  • PURPOSES: In this study, as part of an effort to develop HUD for public transit, it is proposed that the decision of order priority of contents which will be disposed to bus drivers through HUD for public transit using AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) technique. METHODS: In AHP analysis method brainstorming, factor analysis, hierarchical structuring, and weighting analysis were performed by applying a classical analysis method. RESULTS: By the result of analysis it is shown that unlike car drivers, bus drivers prefer information related to bus intervals, bus stop, and door open and close to information related to vehicle running. Also, bus stop information and bus interval information were ranked as first and second place in order priority of HUD contents for public transit by experts. CONCLUSIONS: This method of selecting order priority of HUD contents for public transit can provide a basic foundation for selecting order priority of traffic information contents as well as other HUD contents.

  • A queueing model with two input streams of different service priorities is studied. Specifically, IBP+BP/D/1 with head-of-line priority is analyzed. IBP and BP stand for Interrupted Bernoulli Process and Bernoulli Process respectively. The BP-stream customers have the higher service priority over the IBP-stream customers. An exact analysis of this priority queue is presented to derive the distributions of the state of the system at steady state, the waiting time distributions for each class of customers, and the interdeparture time distributions. The numerical results of the analysis are presented to show how the various parameters of the low and high priority arrival processes affect the performance of the system.

  • PURPOSES : This study prioritizes potential technology for establishing a safe work zone environment on roadways. We consider almost all conceivable technologies that enable mitigation of unexpected accidents for both road workers and drivers. METHODS : This study suggests a methodology to set the priority of potential technology for establishing a safe work zone environment by using the analytical hierarchy process (AHP). For this purpose, the AHP structure was first developed. Thereafter, a web-based survey was conducted to collect experts' opinions. Based on the survey results, weights associated with the relevant criteria of the developed structure were estimated. With the consistency index (CI) and consistency ratio (CR), we verified the estimated weights. In addition, a sensitivity analysis was performed to confirm whether the estimated weights were reliable. We finally proposed the priority for potential technology for establishing a safe work zone environment on roadways. RESULTS : In the first level, safety technology has the highest priority, and real-time information delivery for work zone, hazard warning for drivers, and temporal automated operation for traffic facilities were selected in the second level of hierarchy. CONCLUSIONS : The results imply that establishing the priority will be useful to establish a future road map for improving the work environment for road workers and drivers by employing appropriate protection facilities and developing safety systems.

  • It is important to speed up the loading time of web applications. Parsing is a loading process that contributes to an increased loading time. To address this issue, the optimization called Concurrent Parsing has been proposed which handles the parsing process in parallel by using additional threads. However, Concurrent Parsing has a limitation that it does not consider the priority order of parsing. In this paper, we propose heuristics that exploit priorities of parsing to improve the Concurrent Parsing. For parsing priority, we empirically investigate the sequence of function calls, classify functions into 3 categories, and extract function call probabilities. If a function has high call probability, we give a high priority and if a function has low probability, we give a low priority. We evaluate this priority heuristics on real web applications and get the 2.6% decrease of loading time on average.

  • Construction companies are fulfilled in according to project, and it is difficult to execute the standardized process in various construction projects. Thus many construction companies is adopting BPM(Business Process Management) that meet business process change and business improvement. However, it is difficult to apply BPM in a lump because of difference of BPM characteristics and company's strategies. For this reason, it is desirable to select business process based on company's priority. This study indicated need of method for selecting business process through studying current researches, and made BPA for construction company by analyzing business process in construction company. Moreover, this study indicated core business process from a point of profitability and growth view through grasping strategic goal priority. And also, it proposed criteria for process evaluation for BPM adoption, evaluated core business process, and indicated prior business process for BPM adoption.

  • ATM networks support diverse traffic types with different service requirement such as data, voice, video and image. This paper analyzes a dynamic priority queue to satisfy Quality of Service (QoS) requirements of traffic. to consider the burstiness of traffic, we assume the arrival to be a Markovian arrival process(MAP) . Performance measures such as loss and delay are derived, Finally, some numerical results show the performance of the system.

  • In this paper, we analyze the performance of ATM switch with output buffer which has a space priority control mechanism. As we assumed that the input traffic consists of loss tolerable voice and loss sensitive data, we modeled it with MMPP(Markov Modulated Poisson Process). We confirmed that the loss probability of loss sensitive traffic decreases when we use the space priority control mechanism.

  • This paper addresses the problem of period and priority assignment in networked control systems (NCSs) using a fixed priority scheduler. The problem of assigning periods and priorities to tasks and messages is formulated as an optimization problem to allow for a systematic approach. The temporal characteristics of an NCS should be considered by defining an appropriate performance index (PI) which represents the temporal behavior of the NCS. In this study, the sum of the end-to-end response times required to process all I/Os with precedence relationships is defined as a PI. Constraints are derived from the task and message deadline requirements to guarantee schedulability. Genetic algorithms are used to solve this constrained optimization problem because the optimization formulation is discrete and nonlinear. By considering the effects of communication, an optimum set of periods and priorities can be holistically derived.

  • It is well known that urban environment affects climate, as we can see in the quality of bio-climate. However, climate has not been recognised properly in the urban planning process. The role it flays needs to be examined for better urban environment. The main objective of this study is to investigate the climate-ecological priority area which produces cold fresh air and thermal induced wind circulation between rural and urban areas. The objective is also to improve the quality of bio-climate and wind circulation at blocked urban areas. This paper uses the measurement and analysis method of wind direction and wind speed in order to investigate the climate-ecological priority area and cold fresh air corridor. In this study, local climate conditions i.e. wind speed, wind direction, temperature, humidity etc., were measured at nine fields and analyzed. On the basis of the climate measurement, the climate ecological priority areas were delineated; These will be assigned as climate-ecological conservation areas.
