Statistical Process Control Procedure for Integral-Controlled Processes

  • Statistical process control(SPC) and engineering process control(EPC) are two strategies for quality improvement that have been developed independently. EPC seeks to minimize variability by adjusting compensatory variables in order to make the process level close to the target, while SPC seeks to reduce variability by monitoring and eliminating causes of variation. One purpose of this paper is to propose the IMA(0,1,1) model as the in-control process model. For the out-of-control process model we consider two cases; one is the case with a step shift in the level, and the other is the case with a change in the nonstationarity. Another purpose is to suggest the use of an integrated process control procedure with adjustment and monitoring, which can consider the proposed process model effectively. An integrated control procedure will improve the process control activity significantly for cases of the proposed model, when compared to the procedure of using either EPC or SPC, since EPC will keep the process close to the target and SPC will eliminate special causes.

  • 'Visual segment surface' means a surface that extends from the missed approach point of non precision approaches (or the decision altitude location for approaches with vertical guidance and precision approaches) to the threshold to facilitate the identification of and protection from obstacles in this visual segment of the approach. Validation is the necessary final quality assurance step in the procedure design process, prior to publication. The purpose of validation is the verification of all obstacle and navigation data, and assessment of flyability of the procedure. This paper shows how to apply the protection for the visual segment of the approach procedure, and the results of the validation for visual segment surface conducted at an airport.

  • A modified $Brostr{\ddot{o}}m$ procedure has been widely accepted as a treatment of choice for patients with chronic lateral ankle instability. The procedure is highly reliable and provides successful outcomes in approximately 90% of cases. Severe degree of instability, absence or poor quality of the ligamentous remnant, obesity, and generalized joint hypermobility have been regarded as poor prognostic factors related to the modified $Brostr{\ddot{o}}m$ procedure. However, these perceptions are based on a low level of evidence studies or expert opinions. Therefore, the aim of this article was to search for evidences regarding the poor prognostic factors of the modified $Brostr{\ddot{o}}m$ procedure.

QFD 기법을 이용한 패키지 소프트웨어의 품질 요구사항 획득 (Acquiring Quality Requirements of Package Software using Quality Function Deployment Technique)

  • In this paper, the QFD(quality function deployment) technique is used to acquire the quality requirements of package software which is sold in commercial software shop. To select the principal quality characteristics of package software, an user survey was conducted for a quality model developed based on the international standards and the previous research. The software user is divided into three groups: the general user, the expert, and the developer. Based on the survey results, the top 10 quality characteristics are selected including accuracy, suitability, installability, de-installability, and maturaty. Then, the QFD technique is applied to choose the software quality attributes which have strong correlation with the selected quality characteristics, some of which are traceability, accuracy, modularity, completeness, and self-descriptiveness. The developed procedure can be used in evaluating the quality of package software with lower costs and efforts.

  • 비음용 목적의 지하수에 대한 국내 수질기준은 기준항목 및 기준치설정에 근거가 명시되지 않아 체계적인 기준설정체계 마련이 시급한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 비음용 목적의 특정유해물질에 대한 위해성기반 한국 지하수 수질기준 설정체계를 마련하기 위해 흡입 및 피부접촉 노출경로를 고려한 위해성을 반영하고 있는 선진국의 지하수기준 설정근거를 분석하였으며, 국내 타 수질 관련 매체의 기준 설정 체계를 바탕으로 향후 한국 지하수기준의 설정체계를 제안하였다 모니터링 우선항목 선정, 모니터링 수행, 위해성평가, 지하수 수질기준 후보물질 선정, 특정유해물질 지하수 수질기준 신규항목 선정 및 항목별 기준치 설정 단계로 제안하였다.

  • Quality Management is a recent phenomenon. This is applied to products or services, with an objective to deliver high quality, reliable, worthy, enduring, product or service. The process is considered to have four main components: quality planning, quality control, quality assurance and quality improvement. Focusing on quality control and quality assurance leads to achieving quality management or ensures that an organization or product is consistent. In this paper, the applicable international standard for learning services and for the organization for education and training (learning service provider) is discussed and also the procedure to implement the management system.

  • The Comprehensive quality assurance for radiation oncology provides an overall organizational structures, responsibilities, procedures, processes and resources for assuring the quality of patient management by radiation treatment. Superior performance of modern radiotherapy equipment will be essential part of quality assurance in radiation oncology, which high degree of accuracy and consistency should be maintained under the optimal quality assurance program. Besides quality control of all radiation equipment, this review also emphasizes quality assurance of clinical aspect such as adequacy of the medical decision-making which eventually leads to the treatment prescription, accuracy of treatment procedure from treatment preparation to radiation delivery, and the significance of assessment of treatment outcomes with structure and process.

  • 다구찌 파라미터 설계는 품질특성의 변동을 최대한 줄이면서 동시에 품질특성의 평균을 목표치 가까이 가져가기 위한 설계인자의 최적조건을 찾는 방법이다. 제품의 설계단계에서 품질특성과 여러 개의 설계인자와의 관계는 복잡한 비선형 형태를 가지는 경우가 대부분이다. 신경망에서 유연한 모형선택과 학습능력은 알 수 없는 복잡한 비선형 형태를 파악하는데 아주 유용한 도구이다. 본 연구는 파라미터 설계에서 설계인자의 최적조건을 찾기 위하여 신경망을 이용한 최적화 방안을 제안하였다.

  • Statistical process control (SPC) and engineering process control (EPC) are based on different strategies for process quality improvement. SPC re-duces process variability by detecting and eliminating special causes of process variation, while EPC reduces process variability by adjusting compensatory variables to keep the quality variable close to target. Recently there has been need for an integrated process control (IPC) procedure which combines the two strategies. This paper considers a scheme that simultaneously applies SPC and EPC techniques to reduce the variation of a process. The process model under consideration is an IMA(1,1) model with a step shift. The EPC part of the scheme adjusts the process, while the SPC part of the scheme detects the occurrence of a special cause. For adjusting the process repeated adjustment is applied according to the predicted deviation from target. For detecting special causes the exponentially weighted moving average control chart is applied to the observed deviations. It was assumed that the adjustment under the presence of a special cause may increase the process variability or change the system gain. Reasonable choices of parameters for the IPC procedure are considered in the context of the mean squared deviation as well as the average run length.

Analytic Hierarchical Procedure and Economic Analysis of Pneumatic Pavement Crack Preparation Devices

  • Various approaches have been used in crack preparations and each of the approaches has advantages and disadvantages. Although the routing method has been widely used and seems to be the best approach among the approaches, it is not a complete solution for crack preparation. This paper compares and evaluates a pneumatic crack cleaning device (CCD) developed by Robotics and Intelligent Construction Automation group at Georgia Tech, over existing devices. Surveys were conducted to discover factors that affect the performance of crack/joint preparation work. Then, data for such information were collected via field tests for devices such as router, heat lancer, air blower and CCD. Performed field test results and follow-up interviews demonstrated that the utilization of CCD has potential to offer improvements in productivity, safety, and maintenance cost. An analytic hierarchical procedure (AHP) and economic analyses were conducted. The AHP analysis considered three factors including safety, quality and productivity while the economic analyses examined the alternatives in various ways. The results indicated that the CCD was ranked first and second for the AHP analysis and economic analysis, respectively. In conclusion, the field tests and results revealed that the utilization of CCD achieved satisfactorily in performance, quality, safety and control, and showed that it has high potential in crack cleaning practice.
