  • The purpose of this study is to provide implications for fiscal policy by comprehensively examining the relationship between the on-campus retention and university soundness items of four-year private universities in the context of financial contraction of private universities due to suppression of tuition increase. Multiple regression analysis was performed to analyze the correlation of variables and the effect of financial soundness items on accounting indicators using SPSS 25. First, private university's on-campus reservations had an effect on accounting index items. Second, financial soundness items had an effect on accounting index items. Third, the financial condition factors influenced the change of accounting index by the location of the university. Fourth, according to the size of students, financial conditions had an effect on the change in accounting indicators. Government investment and support for private universities should be changed to a paradigm of securing finance through establishment of a development plan, rather than financial support through reduction of quota, and survival should be sought through income diversification policy strategies.

This paper aims to examine the causal relationship between network capability, knowledge creation, innovativeness, competitive aggressiveness, and business performance of private universities. One model is proposed to test the role of competitive aggressiveness as a mediating variable. The population is lecturers at the 10 best private universities in East Java, Indonesia. Analysis by SEM, on 230 respondents, using random sampling method. The results show that the model is accepted, and competitive aggressiveness is proven to be a positive mediating variable in the relationship of network capability, knowledge creation, innovativeness, and business performance. The results also show that knowledge creation, and innovativeness, have an effect on competitive aggressiveness, while network capability has no effect. The research implication is that management should encourage lecturers and organizations to be more productive in conducting research and writing articles published in reputable journals, this will increase the ranking of universities. In order for the lecturers be more enthusiastic, the management gave an award to each lecturer who could submit their articles, which were then published by reputable journals.

  • The aim of this study was to analyze the operation status of administrative information datasets of private universities and present improvement plans. For the system of private universities, the generation, correction, and deletion of functions, development types, and data were analyzed politically. As a result of the analysis, it has one or more administrative information systems and uses the academic management system in common, and the system is often developed on its own through the university's infrastructure, and data is deleted by the person in charge, but the regulations are not clear. To solve these problems, it was proposed to revise the EA portal to properly investigate the current status of the administrative information system of private universities, manage records centering on systems without data correction, and revise internal regulations to conduct education.

  • This study analyzed the effect of the competency factors (resources and education competency)on the performance of university-industry cooperation by characteristic of universities through multiple regression model using 202 datasets empirically. The input factors variables used in a research model were characteristics of universities (research oriented/education-oriented universities and public/private universities) and competency factors (resource competency and education competency) of university-industry cooperation. The performance factors of university-industry cooperation were composed of the outcomes of intellectual knowledge asset, technology transfer, spin-off and financial profits. The empirical results show that research-oriented universities and public universities produce a uniter performance of university-industry cooperation than education-oriented universities and private universities, respectively and the competency factors of university-industry cooperation such as resource and education competency also have a positive effect on the performance of university-industry cooperation.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the number of university entrants influenced by the population decline of school age, to discuss the major issues of university restructuring policy initiated by government, and to suggest the mid- to long-term policy agenda on university restructuring. According to the analysis of university enrollment changes, university enrollment quota will decrease to 29% of year 2013. And the ratio of private university enrollment and the entrants of universities in the metropolitan areas will increase. Under these circumstances, it is highly concerned that high school graduates will be more concentrated to private universities located in the metropolitan areas. The government policy on university restructuring have several problems on the direction, the pursuing strategies, and the negative impacts of it. This study suggested the new paradigm for the university development and also the alternative strategies such as the balanced development in universities, financial support system, school-to-work policy, university collaboration system, and an enactment of university development.

  • The Educational Restitution Rate is an important parameter that determines the quality of university education. This paper analyzed data from 148 private universities over the 10 years from 2009 to 2018 using data mining techniques in Korea. A significant causal relationship is detected in the fixed effect model as a result of the panel estimation. And the scale of faculty expansion and fund management, which are the university evaluation indicators, and the size of basic funds, respectively, have a positive effect on the ERR, which is within the confidence interval. In the analysis, the more private universities improve the tuition dependence rate, the more decisively positive affecting ERR. As a result of nonparametric regression estimation, when the faculty expansion ratio is reinforced, the effect of economies of scale is detected in some sections, the improvement of the tuition dependence rate, and the result value is generated through the improvement that results are derived at a certain point in time. We hope that the university based on this study can be a basic Indicators for the diagnosis of basic competencies and policy of student-centered education.

  • Today rapidly changing internal and external environment of the universities such as the reduction of freshmen quota forces most universities to be facing a dangerous existence. It is an urgent thing for the universities to secure finance and good students. Because it was thought that to know freshmen's recognition of their choice of colleges would serve to establish the screening system of each university, we studied it through the survey of the freshmen in some universities. We randomly chose some national universities, private universities and educational universities to investigate who are responsible for their choice of colleges. It is shown that the influence of their high school teachers upon their students’ choosing universities is no more than 10%. As a result, the establishment of proper policy of admission to each university on its own that makes use of the characteristics of the region and the university will be effective in choosing good students.

  • The structure of universities needs to be adjusted and reformed to cope with the decrease in admission resources and the quality of education due to the low birth rate and aging population. Such a policy is receiving much attention. To analyze the relative efficiency of private universities in Korea from the perspective of resource and performance, this study evaluated the efficiency of private university operation by applying a DEA(Data Envelopment Analysis) technique. The DEA measurements were compared with the diagnosis results of the department of education (Government) in 2018. The input and output variables used in the research analysis were utilized by the university's notification materials (public disclosure information). An analysis of the operational efficiency showed that 48% (12 universities) of the 25 DMUs (Decision Making Unit) were efficient for DEA-BCC models and that some of the capacity-building universities were operating efficiently. In addition, the DEA analysis found ways to improve inefficient groups through DEA-Additive results. This paper can be meaningful because it confirmed the relative efficiency of private universities and suggested improvement directions through the DEA method, which is characterized by the simultaneous consideration of various input and output factors. This will help apply the limited resources related to the input and output elements of each university.

For this study we compare and analysis the curriculum of 15 universities in Korea and the papers which were published on "Korean Security Science Review" that is a report in a professional private security. In conclusion, 269 subjects are used as instructional materials in 15 universities, thus 103 subjects for the private security and 60 for the leisure sports and first-aid treatment, 46 for the social science, 30 for the martial arts and shooting, 16 for the secretary affairs, 14 for the foreign languages. Regarding scientistic papers, 45.7% of papers for the private security of all and 14.6% for the public security, 14.6% for the criminal, and 11.6% for the terror etc. But there are any papers for the facilities guard or security in spite of the facilities guard is pivotal role in this field. The facilities guard or security, or maybe house detective, holds 80.5% of the private security market and it is important role in this industry in Korea. Besides, considering development of private security, the security market makeup the body-guard field hold 12.2%, prevention security system by censor hold 4.1%. So, this statistics show that the facilities guard lead practically the private security industry in this field, but there are any subjects for the education and any research for the paper.
