  • Effects of refinement of primary Si and residual stress on the mechanical properties of Aluminum B.390 alloy have been examined. Calcium was found to have an effect on the size of primary silicon particles. Primary silicon particle was refined as Ca content decreased. Refinement of primary Si particles led to an improvement in mechanical properties of the alloy; increase of elongation was prominent, above all. By the increase of compressive residual stress in the matrix alloy, tensile strength increased but elongation decreased.

  • In this study, chemical coagulation conditions for treating combined sewer overflow(CSO) occurred during rainy season were evaluated by jar tests with aluminum sulfate[$Al_2(SO_4)_3{\cdot}17H_2O$] and ferric chloride[$FeCl_3{\cdot}6H_2O$]. The raw domestic sewage sampled from the primary sedimentation tank at a local sewage treatment plant was filtered through $150{\mu}m$ sieve before using. Point of zero charge(PZC) for various dose of aluminum sulfate occurred at pH 5.8-6.5, while for ferric chloride occurred at pH 5.3-6.0 in term of streaming current(SC) values. Charge neutralization ability of aluminum sulfate was bigger than that of ferric chloride. Optimum pH and dose of aluminum sulfate and ferric chloride were 6.2, 0.438mM and 5.8, 0.925mM, respectively. Removal efficiencies of TCOD, turbidity, SS and TP were 75, 97, 95, 96% with aluminum sulfate and 74, 96, 98, 99% with ferric chloride at their optimum coagulation conditions. More efficient removal of SS, TP and small particles was possible with ferric chloride at optimum coagulation conditions. Both SC values and COD removal started to increase where soluble phosphorus was completely removed.

  • The primary objective of this study is to investigate the production and performance characteristics of structural concrete incorporating varying proportions (0%, 25%, and 50% by volume) of pumice stone, as well as aluminum lathe as an additive at 0%, 1%, 2%, and 3%, under fire conditions. The experiment will be conducted over a period of up to 1 hour, at temperatures ranging from 24℃, 200℃, 400℃ and 600℃. For the purpose of this, a total of twelve test samples were manufactured, and then tests of compressive strength (CS), splitting tensile strength (STS), and flexural strength (FS) were performed on these samples.Next, a comparison was made between the obtained values and the influence of temperature. To achieve this objective, the manufactured samples were placed at temperatures of 200℃, 400℃, and 600℃ for a duration of 1 hour, and were subjected to the influence of temperature. These values at 24 ℃ were then contrasted with the CS results obtained from test samples that were subjected to the temperature effect for an hour at 200 ℃, 400 ℃, and 600 ℃. A comprehensive analysis of the test outcomes reveals that the incorporation of aluminum lathe wastes into a mixture results in a significant reduction in the compressive strength of the concrete. As a result of this adjustment, the CS values dropped by 32.93%, 45.70%, and 52.07%, respectively. Furthermore, It was shown that testing the ratios of pumice stone alone resulted in a decrease in CS outcomes. Additionally, it was found that the presence of higher temperatures is clearly the primary factor contributing to the decrease in the strength of concrete. Due to elevated temperatures, the CS values decreased by 19.88%, 28.27%, and 38.61% respectively. After this investigation, an equation that explains the connection between CS and STS was provided through the utilization of the data of the experiments that were carried out.

  • It is many devices to obtain the globular structure because the globularity of the structure is the key to the low apparent viscosity and also to good rheological properties. In this study, the morphology of the change of primary Al phase in A356 alloy by electro magnetic stirrer was investigated to obtain the globular structure. The parameters are the current, stirring time, pouring temperature individually. The greater current and longer stirring time was to get the finer the primary however in case of over the 80A of current and 60sec of stirring time, the primary Al was merged together and was increased. The effect of pouring temperature has an important effect on the size of primary phase. About the $675^{\circ}C$, the primary Al was very fined.

  • This paper experimentally investigates the characteristics of Al-honeycomb sandwich panels which are considered as a promising primary strength member of weight critical large structures. Some tests on the aluminum honeycomb panels subject to 3-point bending or uniaxial compression or crushing load are carried out. Based on the test results, linear elastic response, buckling/ultimate strength and crushing/energy absorption capacity are discussed. Some guidelines for design of aluminum honeycomb panels are given.

  • The purpose of this study was to propose the utility which was evaluated the digital image processing and clinical application of the videodensitomery. The experiments were performed with IBM-PC/16bit-AT compatible, video camera(CCdtr55, Sony Co., Japan), an color monitor(MultiSync 3D, NEC, Japan) providing the resolution of 512×480 and 64 levels of gray. Sylvia Image Capture Board for the ADC(analog to digital converter) was used, composed of digitized image from digital signal and the radiographic density was measured by 256 level of gray. The periapical radiograph(Ektaspeed EP-21, Kodak Co., U. S. A) which was radiographed dried human mandible by exposure condition of 70 kVp and 48 impulses, was used for primary X-ray detector. And them evaluated for digitzed image by low and high pass filtering, correlations between aluminum equivalent values and the thickness of aluminum step wedge, aluminum equivalent values of sound enamel, dentin, and alveolar bone, the range of diffuse density for gray level ranging from 0 to 255. The obtained results were as follows: 1. The edge between aluminum steps of digitized image were somewhat blurred by low pass filtering, but edge enhancement could be resulted by high pass filtering. Expecially, edge enhancement between distal root of lower left 2nd molar and alveolar lamina dura was observed. 2. The correlation between aluminum equivalent values and the thickness of aluminum step wedge was intimated, yielding the coefficient of correlation r=0.9997(p<0.00l), the regression line was described by Y=0.9699X+0.456, and coefficient of variation amounting to 1.5%. 3. The aluminum equivalent values of sound enamel, dentin, and alvolar bone were 15.41㎜, 12.48㎜, 10.35㎜, respectively. 4. The range of diffuse density for gray level ranging from 0 to 255 was wider enough than that of photodenstiometer to be within the range of 1-4.9.

  • The primary purpose of this study is to investigate the differences in the characteristics of the mordants, synthetic aluminum mordants and ash solutions as natural mordants, used in Caesalpinia sappan dyeing. By introducing aluminum potassium sulfate in the ash solutions, the behavior of the aluminum in the ash solutions were observed. In the rice straw ash solutions, adjusted to the levels of pH6 and pH10, the aluminum potassium sulfate was introduced to achieve various concentration levels. From the analysis of the ash solution of pull, $K^+$ and $Na^+$ ion concentrations were found to be extremely high, while $Al^+$ ion concentration was 0. The color development in the Caesalpinia sappan dyeing by ash solution mordanting was found to be mainly governed not by the mordanting actions of the metallic ions but by those of alkali components. In the case of cotton, the application of pH10 ash solution promoted reddish color development compared to the case of non-mordanting, regardless of the aluminum potassium sulfate addition. In the case of silk, the application of pH10 ash solution increased a* value and decreased b* value compared to the case of non-mordanting.

  • A high thermal conductive AlN composite coating is attractive in thermal management applications. In this study, AlN-YAG composite coatings were manufactured by atmospheric plasma spraying from two different powders: spray-dried and plasma-treated. The mixture of both AlN and YAG was first mechanically alloyed and then spray-dried to obtain an agglomerated powder. The spray-dried powder was primarily spherical in shape and composed of an agglomerate of primary particles. The decomposition of AlN was pronounced at elevated temperatures due to the porous nature of the spray-dried powder, and was completely eliminated in nitrogen environment. A highly spherical, dense AlN-YAG composite powder was synthesized by plasma alloying and spheroidization (PAS) in an inert gas environment. The AlN-YAG coatings consisted of irregular-shaped, crystalline AlN particles embedded in amorphous YAG phase, indicating solid deposition of AlN and liquid deposition of YAG. The PAS-processed powder produced a lower-porosity and higher-hardness AlN-YAG coating due to a greater degree of melting in the plasma jet, compared to that of the spray-dried powder. The amorphization of the YAG matrix was evidence of melting degree of feedstock powder in flight because a fully molten YAG droplet formed an amorphous phase during splat quenching.
