As deregulation of power industry is becoming a reality, there has been an intense interest in the strategic bidding for suppliers to maximize their profits. The profit gained by a supplier is related not only to its energy-price bid curve but also to its submitted operational parameters such as generation capacity, etc. So suppliers are willing to use those strategic parameters that can be manipulated by themselves and are effective to their profit. This paper deals with the competition model with compound strategies: generation capacity and bidding curve. The parameter space is modeled by dividing into the two strategies, so the problem is made up of the four types of sub-game in a two player game. This paper analyzes the global Nash Equilibrium (NE) over the whole divisions by computing the sub-game NEs in some divisions and by deriving the best response curves which have discontinuities in other divisions. The global NE is shown to correspond to the Cournot NE where the quantity variable is realized by a constraints of a generation capacity.

This paper presents the evaluation of reactive power pricing through the control of generator voltages under the assumption that the reactive power market has been transformed into the real power market. By applying the concept of economic dispatch, which minimizes the total cost of real power generation to reactive power generation, the algorithm for implementing reactive power pricing is proposed to determine the optimum voltage profiles of generators. It consists of reactive power voltage equation, the objective function that minimizes the total cost of reactive power generation, and linear analysis of inequality constraints in relation to the load voltages. From this algorithm, the total cost of the reactive power generation can be yielded to the minimum value within network constraints as the range of load voltages. This may provide the fair and reasonable price information for reactive power generation in the deregulated electricity market. The proposed algorithm has been tested on the IEEE 14-bus system using MATLAB.

As the price competition between airlines became increasingly intensified, due to increased participation of low-cost carriers in the air transport industry and the continued deregulation of international air transport, each airline has introduced various management techniques for securing international competitiveness and operational efficiency in order to cope with the uncertainty in air transport industry. The world leading LCCs, such as Ryan air, easyJet and Southwest, have changed their traditional business models by increasing operation to primary airports, diversifying operating routes, making strategic alliances with FSCs or other LCCs, increasing the operations on the mid or long distance routes, expanding ancillary revenues, etc. As Korea's air transport industry is confronting with intense competition, our LCCs are requested to adjust to this new challenging situation. As the world leading LCCs did, Korean LCCs are recommended to adopt new business models such as restructuring of the air transport industry through M&A, operating more flexibly in terms of frequency or route, launching of services to primary airports, making strategic alliances with foreign FSCs, developing of 4th or 6th traffic demands, etc.

Innumerable microgrids would be operated independently by individual operators in a future smart grid. This kind of decentralized power system requires entirely different operation scheme in the actual power system and electricity market operation. Especially, frequency regulation is very important for successive energy trade in this multi-microgrid circumstance. This paper presents an optimal energy and reserve market participation strategy and operation strategy of energy storage system (ESS) by a microgrid operator (MGO). For definite evaluation of the proposed strategy, we postulate that the MGO should participate in the Power Exchange for Frequency Control (PXFC) market, which was devised by Maria Ilic and her coworkers and is suitable to the decentralized operation circumstances. In particular, optimal reserve capacity of the frequency control market and optimal market participation ratio of ESS between frequency control market and energy market are derived theoretically and evaluated by simulations utilizing Nordic Pool Elspot price data.
This study examines the competitiveness of Korean golf industry and forecasts the demand for golf tourism to diminish the deficit of tourism revenue through revitalizing domestic market for golf. A comparative investigation of the golf expenses shows that the price competitiveness of golf fee and equipments is significantly lower than the competing destinations. For instance, a price of golf tourism package in South east Asian countries, that includes accommodation for three nights and a round-trip airfare, is even lower than the price of three sets of rounding during the weekend in Korea. Plus, the economic impacts analysis shows that if the current regulations regarding domestic golf industry are to be maintained, the competitiveness of Korean golf industry is likely to get worse due to an excessive tax burden, which may result in the increased deficit of tourism revenue. It is expected that the enhanced competitiveness of Korean golf industry will help overcome the current economic crisis of Korea.
SPAC(Special Purpose Acquisition Company) is the paper company that aims the merger of private company only, and introduced in Korea at 2009. Until 2013, 22 SPACs were listed, and 10 of them made successful mergers but rest were delisted. When IPO, range of the volume of public offerings were 20~30 billion won. After IPO, some SPACs showed extreme price movements, but on average their prices were below IPO prices 1 year later and near IPO prices 2 years later. Successful SPACs showed positive and significant 2.94% 25 days Cumulative Average Abnormal Return(CAAR) before the public announcements of merger and also showed positive and significant 10.60% 45 days CAAR around the general meetings of shareholders. I concluded that SPAC market were constrained by several regulations, so deregulation is needed for SPAC market activation.

Automobile industry is facing a variety of risks, including the rise of international oil price and the increase of car prices. In addition to the government's deregulation, efforts should be made to improve management aiming at higher production efficiency. In this study, we established a model for evaluating the procurement logistics based on the Fuzzy-AHP-TOPSIS by using the factors that are actually used in real companies aimed at the improvement of procurement logistics. A total of three automobile factories of Company G were chosen as the evaluation subject. In the result of the Fuzzy-AHP analysis that was conducted on a sample of three car factories, solving the long-term quality problems, minimizing the stop time due to the shortage of materials, preventing the of equipment accident, and solving the short-term quality problems were proven to be the most important factors. TOPSIS analysis result indicated that Factory B had the best procurement logistics. Our study has significance that it can contribute to the improvement of efficiency in the automobile industry as the evaluation model suggested in this study can be used for regular evaluation related to the procurement logistics in the future.
This research reviews regulations on logistics/transport industry and attempts to quantify the effects of regulation mitigation on GDP per capita. South Korea's transport industry has been gradually expanding, however, the industrial structure is still short rooted. In 2014, average number of hours worked is 5th highest and wage margin 12th smallest out of 18 industries. Furthermore, the regulations for this industry appear to be stricter than those of other industries. OECD's logistics/transport industry regulatory index for South Korea has been decreasing for the last 40 years but still exceeds those of EU, Japan, US, and other countries. This paper provides supporting reasons for regulatory reforms by analyzing the ripple effects on real GDP. Factors such as the ratio of trade among GDP, the enrollment rate to primary school, energy usage per capita, and population are controlled in the fixed-effect model. Estimation results showed that 1 unit decrease in transport/logistics regulatory index is correlated with 8.1% increase of the real GDP per capita, that is, 10% of deregulation is expected to yield 2.16% increase in GDP per capita. Thus, it is expected that mitigating regulations on market entries, price determination, ownership structures of network industry, vertical integrations can improve the economy of South Korea.
Recent financial theory views insurance policies as financial instruments that are traded in markets and whose prices reflect the forces of supply and demand. This article analyzes individual's insurance purchasing behavior along with capital market investment activities, which will provide a more realistic look at the tradeoff between insurance and investment in the individual's budget constraint. It is shown that the financial economic concept of insurance cost should reflect the opportunity cost of insurance premium. The author demonstrates the importance of riskless and risky financial assets in reaching an equilibrium insurance premium. In addition, the paper also investigates how the investment income could affect the four established theorems on traditional insurance literature. At the present time in Korea, the price deregulation is being debated as the most important current issue in insurance industry. In view of the results of this paper, insurance companies should recognize investment income in pricing their coverage if insurance prices are deregulated. Otherwise. price competition may force insurance companies to restrict coverage or to leave the market.
In this paper, the resource adequacy as well as the optimum fuel mix is obtained by the following procedures. First, the regulation body, the government agency, determine the reliability index as well as the optimum portfolio of the fuel mix during the planning horizon. Here, the resources with the characteristics of public goods such as demand-side management, renewable resources are assigned in advance. Also, the optimum portfolio is determined by reflecting the economics, environmental characteristics, public acceptance, regional supply and demand, etc. Second, the government announces the required amount of each fuel-type new resources during the planning horizon and the market participants bid to the government based on their own estimated fixed cost. Here, the government announces the winners of the each auction by plant type and the guaranteed fixed cost is determined by the marginal auction price by plant type. Third, the energy market is run and the surplus of each plant except their cost (guaranteed fixed cost and operating cost) is withdrew by the regulatory body. Here, to induce the generators to reduce their operating cost some incentives for each generator is given based on their performance. The performance is determined by the mechanism of the performance-based regulation (PBR). Here the free-riding performance should be subtracted to guarantee the transparent competition. Although the suggested mechanism looks like very regulated one, it provides two mechanism of the competition. That is, one is in the resource construction auction and the other is in the energy spot market. Also the advantages of the proposed method are it guarantee the proper resource adequacy as well as the desired fuel mix. However, this mechanism should be sustained during the transient period of the deregulation only. Therefore, generation resource planning procedure and market mechanisms are suggested to minimize possible stranded costs.
