  • Stomach contents of snailfish, Liparis tanakai, caught in the Nakdong River Estuary were examined quantitatively. Liparis tanakai was a bottom feeding carnivores, and showed an almost strict specialization on shrimps and fishes. Shrimps and fishes accounted for 74.3% and 19.8% of the overall stomach contents, respectively. The most selected prey species was Cragon affinis for all fish size classes. The snailfish' s diets included minor quantities of crabs, amphipods, mysids and isopods. Small individuals(4~10 cm SL) consumed mainly shrimps which accounted for approximately 90% of the stomach contents. However, the portion of the diet attributable to shrimps decreased steadily with increasing fish size, and this decrease was paralleled by increased cosumption of fishes. For 31~45 cm individuals, fishes constituted over 30% of the stomach contents, while shrimps made up approximately 60% of the diet.

  • Feeding habits of Micropterus salmoides were investigated from the stomach contents of specimens ranging from 13 to 511 mm in standard length (n = 419), which are collected in the Lake Okjeong, Korea, 2006 to 2007. M. salmoides is a very strong carnivorous fish eating living organisms such as lots of fishes, small amount of aquatic insects and shrimps. As they grow, the feeding habits changed : they fed mainly on Branchioda in 10 to 20 mm in SL., aquatic insects and small fishes in 30 to 50 mm in SL., fishes including Zacco platypus, Hemiculter eigenmanni and Rhinogobius brunneus over 50 mm. However, among the prey organisms, M. salmoides most preferred living fishes. Analysing ichthyofauna of the Lake Okjeong from 1981 to the present investigation, after and before introduction of M. salmoides, it was showed that there was a certain reduction in fish diversity. Consequently, it is likely to let the strongly fish-eating habit to reduce a diversity of native fishes in the lake.

  • NPC in game is an important factor to increase the fun of the game by cooperating with player or confrontation with player. NPC's behavior patterns in the previous games are limited. Also, there is not much difference in NPC's ability among the existing games because it's designed to FSM. Therefore, players who have matched with NPCs which have the characteristics may have difficulty to play. This paper is for improving the problem and production and evaluation of the game NPC behavior model based on wolves hunting model in real life. To achieve it, first, the research surveys and studies behavior states for wolves to capture prey in the real world. Secondly, it is implemented using the Unity3D engine. Third, this paper compares the implemented state transition probability to state transition probability in real world, state transition probability in general game. The comparison shows that the number of state transitions of NPCs increases, proportions of implemented NPC behavior patterns converges to probabilities of state transition in real-world. This means that the aggressive behavior pattern of NPC implemented is similar to the wolf hunting behavior pattern of the real world, and it can thereby provide more player experience.

  • This studies was carried out to investigate the natural enemies of citrus red mite, pononychus citri and seasonal occurrence of its major beneficial insects in Yuzu groves (Chonnam province) from 1996 to 1998. Natural enemies against citrus red mite were 9 species including Oligota kashmirica benifica, 0. yasumatsui, Stethorus punctillum, Chrysopa pallens, Propylea japonica, Orius sauteri, Scolothrips takahashii, Amblyseius womersleyi and one unidentified species of thrips (Family: Phlaeothripidae). Among them, Oligota kashmirica benzficu and Stethorus punctillum were found to be dominant species. 0 . kushmirica henifica had 4-5 generations from middle May to middle November with peak in early September. S. punctillum had 3 generations from late May to late October with peak of late June to middle July. Population dynamics between predator ( 0 . kushmiricu benifica and S. punctillum) and prey (Panonychus citri) were quite well synchronized until September but predator density was decreased abruptly after October.

  • The toxicities of 37 commercial pesticides for citrus pests were evaluated to H, fallacis. Eight fungicides (difenoconazole, imibenconazole, azoxystrobin, dithianon, fluazinam, procymidon, streptomycin, tribasic copper sulfate), three insecticides (dichlovos, imidacloprid, thiamethoxam) and four acaricides (milbemectin, tetradifon, dicofol, spirodiclofen) had lower effect to the hatchability of eggs N. fallacis. Six fungicides (propineb, difenoconazole, imibenconazole, azoxystrobin, dithianon, procymidon) and three acaricides (bifenazate, tetradifon, spirodiclofen) showed lower contact toxicity to adult N. fallacis. The secondary toxicity of 26 pesticides to N. fallacis adult were evaluated. Two fungicides (fluazinam, streptomycin) and 3 acaricides (machine oil, cyhexatin, halfenprox) showed low toxicity when the prey (eggs of spider mite) was treated with pesticides.

  • Filiform hairs that respond to movements of the surrounding medium are the mechanoreceptors commonly found in arthropods and vertebrates. The hairs function as a sensory system for perceiving information produced by prey, predators, or conspecifics. A mathematical model is proposed, and the parametric analyses for the response of artificial filiform hair are conducted to design and predict the performance of a microfabricated device. The results for the Cytop hair, one of the most popular polymer optical fibers (POFs), show that the fundamental mode has a dominant effect on the hair behavior in an oscillating medium flow. The dynamic behavior of sensory hair is also dependent on the physical dimensions such as length and diameter. It is found that the artificial hair with a high elastic modulus does not show a resonance in the biologically important frequency range.

  • Diel changes in the feeding habits of Rudarius ercodes were investigated in an eelgrass bed of Jindong Bay, Korea. The main food components for R. ercodes (1.6~ 4.3 cm SL) were gammarid amphipods, eelgrass, polychaetes and urochordates. Most dietary items were inhabitants of an eelgrass bed. Diel variations in diet and feeding activity occurred. The diet of R. ercodes underwent changes from eelgrass and gammarid amphipods (omnivore) at day to mainly gammarid amphipods, polychaetes, and urochordates (carnivore) at night. Rudarius ercodes probably took detached eelgrass leaves and grazed live eelgrass during day, whereas feeding on gammarid amphipods, polychaetes, urochordates, and bivalves were facilitated by nocturnal movement and activity of these prey during night. The feeding activity of R. ercodes was also correlated with periods of high tides.

  • The feeding habits of Lateolabrax japonicus were studied based on an examination of the stomach contents of 344 specimens collected monthly from January to December, 2005 in coastal waters off Dolsan-do, Yeosu. The standard length (SL) of specimens ranged in 8.7~52.8 cm. L. japonicus is a piscivore that consumes mainly teleosts such as Engraulis japonicus, Trachurus japonicus, and Acanthogobius flavimanus. Its diet also includes Macrura, Amphipoda, Cephalopoda, Polychaeta, Mysidacea, and Branchyura. Small individuals (<25 cm SL) consume mainly Amphipoda and Macrura. The proportion of these prey items decreases with increasing fish size, and this decrease paralleled the increased fish consumption.

  • The feeding habits of the Siniperca scherzeri were studied using 332 specimens collected by trammel net in the Soyang Lake of Han River, from April to November 2014. Of 332 specimens, 197 contained food and 135 were empty. The standard length of individuals used in this study ranged from 107 to 321 mm. Mandarin fish mainly consumed fishes and shrimps. The main food items of fishes and shrimps were Hypomesus nipponensis and Macrobrachium nipponense. The proportion of fishes in prey items increased with increasing mandarin fish length, however shrimps decreased with growth. The seasonal difference were apparent, fishes were taken mainly all the seasons except June, July and October. There were higher rates of fishes for food items in downstream areas than in the upper and middle areas of the Soyang Lake.

  • Mesodinium rubrum is a cosmopolitan ciliate that often causes red tides. Predation by heterotrophic protists is a critical factor that affects the population dynamics of red tide species. However, there have been few studies on protistan predators feeding on M. rubrum. To investigate heterotrophic protists grazing on M. rubrum, we tested whether the heterotrophic dinoflagellates Gyrodiniellum shiwhaense, Gyrodinium dominans, Gyrodinium spirale, Luciella masanensis, Oblea rotunda, Oxyrrhis marina, Pfiesteria piscicida, Polykrikos kofoidii, Protoperidinium bipes, and Stoeckeria algicida, and the ciliate Strombidium sp. preyed on M. rubrum. G. dominans, L. masanensis, O. rotunda, P. kofoidii, and Strombidium sp. preyed on M. rubrum. However, only G. dominans had a positive growth feeding on M. rubrum. The growth and ingestion rates of G. dominans on M. rubrum increased rapidly with increasing mean prey concentration < $321ngCmL^{-1}$, but became saturated or slowly at higher concentrations. The maximum growth rate of G. dominans on M. rubrum was $0.48d^{-1}$, while the maximum ingestion rate was 0.55 ng C $predator^{-1}d^{-1}$. The grazing coefficients by G. dominans on populations of M. rubrum were up to $0.236h^{-1}$. Thus, G. dominans may sometimes have a considerable grazing impact on populations of M. rubrum.
