In nuclear power plants, the flow rate information is a major indicator of the performance of rotating equipment such as pumps, and is a very important one required for facility operation and maintenance. To measure a flow rate, various types of methods have been developed and used. Among them, the differential pressure type using orifice and the direct doppler type using ultrasonic waves are the most commonly used. However, these flow rate measurement methods have limitations in installation, conditions and status of the measuring part, etc. To solve this problem, we have studied a new technique for measuring flow rate from scratch. In this paper, we have devised a technique to estimate the flow rate using an average moving velocity of large-scale eddy in turbulence that occurs in the piping flow field. The velocity of the large-scale eddy can be measured using the pressure fluctuation signals on the inner surface of the pipe. To estimate the flow rate, at first a cross-correlation function is applied to the two pressure fluctuation signals located at different positions in the down stream for calculating the time delay between the moving eddies. In order to validate the proposed flow rate estimation method, CFD analyses for the internal turbulence flow in pipe are conducted with a fixed flow condition, where the pressure fluctuation signals on the pipe inner surface are simulated. And then the average flow velocity of the large scale eddy is to be estimated. The estimated flow velocity is turned out to be similar to the fixed (known) flow rate.

The objective of this study was to provide the optimum thawing condition under different level of high pressure(50, 100, 150 and 200 MPa) using high pressure assisted technique which can improve the quality of frozen and thawed pork. The calculated thawing rate from the results depending on the high pressure showed the strong trend of increased thawing rate under pressurized condition(P<0.05). And then, the numerical modeling was executed to predict the thawing rate influenced by the pressure level using exponential regression, LnY=0.70623 + 0.00433 ${\cdot}$ P ($R^2=0.9985$), and it was fairly fit for the functional relation between the thawing rate(Y) and pressure(P) with comparatively high coefficient, $R^2$ of determination.

This paper proposes a method to detect misfired cylinders by the exhaust pressure ascent rate. The misfire is generated by faults of electric system or faults of fuel delivery system. It is one of the abnormal combustions. Therefore, it increases the unburned hydrocarbon and the carbon monoxide and affects a bad influence to the 3-way catalyst. The misfire causes to decrease the power of the engine and increase the consumption of the fuel. Early detection and correction of the misfired cylinders can prevent these unusual phenomena. The misfired cylinders can be detected by the comparison of exhaust pressure ascent rate during each cycle. The exhaust pressure ascent rate is defined as pressure rise per time. Our experimental results showed that the proposed method is effective in the detection of the misfired cylinders on a gasoline engine regardless loads and revolutions of the engine.

Notable are the burning rate characteristics of solid propellant burning at extremely high pressure(10000-20000 psia). The burning rate test using closed bomb shows the discontinuous increment around 4000 psia so that the exponent of burning rate(n) is almost double, from 0.4 to 0.8. The pressure-increasing rate of the test motor is about 300 times as high as that of the motor operating at the conventional pressure, less than 2000 psia, is, therefor the burning rate is augmented about 5-50 times. The performance prediction reflecting the pressure-change-rate effect are fairly comparable with the test data at various test conditions.
To investigate emission characteristics of laminar premixed CH4/air flame, combustion experiments were conducted at three flow rates (5.3L/min, 10.6L/min, 15.5L/min) with changing the combustor pressure(-30Kpa-30Kpa). It was found that with increasing flow rate, NOx emission increased in high pressure condition, while decreased in low pressure condition; and the emission of CO decreased with increasing flow rate. For the influence of pressure, emission of NOx increased with increasing pressure regardless of flow rates, while CO emission decreased on the contrary.
The purpose of this study was to test the effect of guided imagery on blood pressure and pulse rate. The subjects were thirty-nine nursing students in I university located in Busan, Korea To enhance the effect of treatment, they were trained getting themselves absorbed in guided imagery on three different occasions before the study. Actually in the study, the subjects were given instruction in Mason's guided imagery for 19 minutes and 58 seconds. Blood pressure and pulse rate were measured before and after guided imagery application. The data were analyzed through paired t-test. The Results were as follows : 1) There was a significant decrease in systolic blood pressure after the use of guided imagery. 2) There was no significant decrease in diastolic blood pressure after the use of guided imagery. 3) There was a significant decrease in pulse rate after the use of guided imagery. These results indicate that guided imagery is a helpful technique for decreasing blood pressure and pulse rate, which are increased in stress condition.

This study has been carried out to investigate the filteration performance of Electrostatically Stimulated Fabric Filter(ESFF) at high temperature condition. The electric field was maintained parallel to the fabric surface. The benefits of ESFF are lower residual pressure drop, improvement of fine particle removal efficiency and increasing reduced rate of pressure drop during a filteration cycle, stable operation at higher filtering velocities. According to the variance of filtering velocities and dust loadings, the results are summarized as follows; By imposing an electric field on the filter, the reduced rate of pressure drop was 7.sim.18% at room temperature, and when filtering velocity was 1.8m/min and dust loading was 1g/m$^{3}$, the value of reduced rate of pressure drop was shown the highest. Under the electric field around the filter, the reduced rate of pressure drop was 10.sim.35% at high temperature, and when filtering velocity was 1.8m/min and dust loading was 1g/m$^{3}$, the value of reduced rate of pressure drop was shown the highest. Most of all, at high temperature, the value of reduced rate of pressure drop was resulted to 25%. Also the collecting efficiency was shown clearly improved. By the SEM photo analysis, the number of penetrated particles at the Conventional Fabric Filter was approximately two times that of Electrostatically Stimulated Fabric Filter.

The purpose of this study is to determine cardiovascular reponses to concentric, eccentric and isometric exercise applied to the knee extensor muscle group. Exercise types studied were concentric, eccentric and isometric. The subjects were sixty healthy male volunteers who had no hypertension or cardiac disease. Heart rate, systolic and diastolic blood pressure were recorded prior to starting exercise. The subjects also performed 10RM on right lower extremity. A N-K table was used for three exercises to right knee extensors. Each exercise was selected randomly and applied to each subject 10 times in a 10 second. After each exercise, heart rate, systolic and diastolic blood pressure were recorded immediately. Findings were as follows concectric contractions had a greater effect on the increase of systolic blood pressure and heart rate than eccentric or isometric contractions. Diastolic blood pressure is influenced only by isometric contractions. Eccentric contractions have less effect on the increase of systolic blood pressure and heart rate than concentric or isometric contractions. We hope that the results of this experiment can be adapted to exercise programs for patients with cardiac disease.

In order to measure the respiratory rate, one of the major vital signs, many devices have been developed and related studies have been conducted. In particular, as the number of wearers of respirators increases in the COVID-19 pandemic situation, studies have been conducted to measure the respiratory rate of the wearer by attaching an electronic sensor to the respirator, but most of them are cases in which an air flow sensor or a microphone sensor is used. In this study, we design and develop a system that measures the respiratory rate of the wearer using an air pressure sensor in a respirator. Air pressure sensors are inexpensive and consume less power than the other sensors. In addition, since the amount of data required for calculation is small and the algorithm is simple, it is suitable for small-scale and low-power processing devices such as Arduino. We developed an algorithm to measure the respiratory rate of a respirator wearer by analysing air pressure change patterns. In addition, variables that can affect air pressure changes were selected, and experimental scenarios were designed according to the variables. According to the designed scenario, we collected air pressure data while the respirator wearer was breathing. The performance of the developed system was evaluated using the collected data.

An experimental investigation on the leakage characteristics of a labyrinth seal, high-low seal, is studied. Pressure distribution and leakage flow rate are measured along with the shaft speed and the pressure difference between the entrance and the exit. Pressure distribution vanes almost linearly along the seal and the leakage flow rate increases as the increase of the pressure difference. Furthermore, it is found that both the shaft speed and the shaft vibration have no influence on the leakage of the labyrinth seal.
