If sound pressure values on boundary are available, then we can predict the sound field in it. Similarly, we can reproduce sound field by manipulating sound pressure values on boundary. In this paper, a noble method of sound reproduction using this concept is introduced and evaluated for the case in which sound field is 2-D half-infinite plane by computer simulation.

An experimental investigation has been made to study the interaction between and incident oblique shock wave and an unstabilized turbulent boundary layer on a solid surface downstream of a porous surface with air injection through the porous surface. The boundary layer upstream of the interaction is unstabilized by the injection and provokes a shock wave which eventually interacts with the unstabilized boundary layer after reflecting from the upper wall of the test section. Three cases having diferent upstream Mach numbers and different shock strengthes are studied. According to the level of the unstabilization, two cases are of attached boundary layers and the other one is of a separated boundary layer. The result shows that the reflected wavey system is composed of the compression wave, expansion wave fan, and recompression wave like the ordinary interaction while the separated boundary layer strengthens the reflected expansion waves. The interactions of the attached boundary layers show a similar tendency of the upstream wall pressure distribution as that of the ordinary interacton but the pressure rise rather decays in the downstream region. In case of the separated boundary layer, the wall pressure continues to rise in the downstream as opposed ot the former cases. This indicates that the interaction region spreads out widely adn the viscous effect of the separated boundary layer smoothens the abrupt pressure increase due to the shock inpingement.

A Compuressible turbulent boundary layer effect of the high temperature, accelerating gas flow through the De-Laval nozzle on combustion chamber pressure is numerically investigated. For this purpose, the coupled momentum integral equation and energy integral equation are solved by the Bartz method, and 1/7 power law for both the turbulent boundary layer velocity distribution and temperature distribution is assumed. As far as the boundary layer thicknesses are concerned, we can obtain reasonable solutions even if relatively simple approximations to the skin friction coefficient and stanton number have been used. The effects of nozzle wall cooling and/or mass flow rate on the boundary layer thicknesses and the combustion chamber pressure are studied. Specifically, negative displacement thickness is appeared as the ratio of the nozzle wall temperature to the stagnation temperature of the free stream decreases, and, consequently, it makes the combustion chamber pressure low.
The accurate modeling of boundary conditions is important in simulations of the discrete element method (DEM) and can affect the numerical results significantly. In conventional triaxial compression (CTC) tests, the specimens are wrapped by flexible membranes allowing to deform freely. To accurately model the boundary conditions of CTC, new flexible boundary algorithms for 2D and 3D DEM simulations are proposed. The new algorithms are computationally efficient and easy to implement. Moreover, both horizontal and vertical component of confining pressure are considered in the 2D and 3D algorithms, which can ensure that the directions of confining pressure are always perpendicular to the specimen surfaces. Furthermore, the boundaries are continuous and closed in the new algorithms, which can prevent the escape of particles from the specimens. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithms is validated by biaxial and triaxial simulations of granular materials. The results show that the algorithms allow the boundaries to deform non-uniformly on the premise of maintaining high control accuracy of confining pressure. Meanwhile, the influences of different lateral boundary conditions on the numerical results are discussed. It is indicated that the flexible boundary is more appropriate for the models with large strain or significant localization than rigid boundary.
Steady two-dimensional flows due to an applied pressure distribution in water of finite depth are considered. Gravity is included in the dynamic boundary condition. Gravity is included in the dynamic boundary condition. The problem is solved numerically by using the boundary integral equation technique. It is shown that, for both supercritical and subcritical flows, solutions depend on three parameters: (i) the Froude number, (ii) the magnitude of applied pressure distribution, and (iii) the span length of pressure distribution. For supercritical flows, there exist up to two solutions corresponding to the same value of Froude number for positive pressures and a unique solution for negative pressures. For subcritical flows, there are solutions with waves behind the applied pressure distribution. As the Froude number decreases, these waves when the Froude numbers approach the critical values.

In this study. an experiment has been performed to investigate distributions of static pressure around a circular cylinder in a uniform shear flow which is made by a specially designed wind tunnel. From the computation program(BLAYER), various boundary layer value are obtained depending on the shear flow rate. It is basical design data that boundary layer flow phenomenon of nuclear power plant heat exchanger tube surroundings. airfoil. and others flow fields.
A code is developed using the hybrid Cartesian/immersed boundary method and it is applied to simulate flows around a three-dimensional deforming body. A new criterion is suggested to distribute the immersed boundary nodes based on edges crossing a body boundary. Velocities are reconstructed at the immersed boundary nodes using the interpolation along a local normal line to the boundary. Reconstruction of the pressure at the immersed boundary node is avoided using the hybrid staggered/non-staggered grid method. The developed code is validated through comparisons with other experimental and numerical results for the velocity profiles around a circular cylinder under the forced in-line oscillation and the pressure coefficient distribution on a sphere. The code is applied to simulate the flow fields around a plate whose tail is periodically flapping under a translation. The effects of the velocity and acceleration due to the deformation on the periodic shedding of pairs of tip vortices are investigated.

The relations between wall pressure fluctuations and near-wall streamwise vortices are investigated in a spatially-developing turbulent boundary layer using the direct numerical simulation. The power spectra and two-point correlations of wall pressure fluctuations are presented to validate the present simulation. Emphasis is placed on the identification of the correlation between wall pressure fluctuations and streamwise vorticities. It is shown that wall pressure fluctuations are directly linked with the upstream streamwise vortices in the buffer region of the turbulent boundary layer. The maximum correlation occurs with the spanwise displacement from the location of wall pressure fluctuations. The conditionally-averaged vorticity field and the quadrant analysis of Reynolds shear stress indicate that the sweep events due to streamwise vortices generate positive wall pressure fluctuations, while negative wall pressure fluctuations are created beneath the ejection events and vortex cores. The instantaneous flow field and time records reveal that the rise of high wall pressure fluctuations coincide with the passages of the upstream streamwise vortices.

Effects of wake-passing orientation and frequency on the wake-induced boundary layer transition on a NACA0012 airfoil are investigated. The wakes are generated by rotating cylinders clockwise (CW) and counterclockwise (CCW) around the airfoil. Time- and phase-averaged streamwise mean velocities and turbulent fluctuations are measured with a single hot-wire probe. Wall skin frictions are estimated by the Computational Preston Tube Method (CPM). The pressure distribution on the airfoil is different according to the wake-passing orientation and frequency. Turbulent patches are generated in the laminar boundary layer due to the passing wake and the boundary layer becomes temporarily transitional. The transition process is significantly affected by the pressure gradient and the turbulent patches. For the receding wake, the turbulent patches propagate more rapidly than those for the approaching wake because adverse pressure gradient becomes larger. As the frequency increases, onset location of transition moles upstream and the boundary layer near the trailing edge becomes more transitional.

Sloshing phenomenon is a complicated free surface flow problem that increases the dynamic pressure on the sidewalls and the bottom of the storage tanks. When the storage tanks are partially filled, it is essential to be able to evaluate the fluid dynamic loads on the tank's perimeter. In this paper, a numerical code was developed to determine the pressure distribution on the rectangular and trapezoidal storage tanks' perimeters due to liquid sloshing phenomenon. Assuming the fluid to be inviscid, the Laplace equation and the nonlinear free surface boundary conditions were solved using coupled boundary element - finite element method. The code performance for sloshing modeling was validated using Nakayama and Washizu's results. Finally, this code was used for partially filled rectangular and trapezoidal storage tanks and free surface displacement, pressure distribution and horizontal and vertical forces exerted on the tanks' perimeters due to liquid sloshing phenomenon were estimated and discussed.
