Curing Behaviours and Adhesion Performance of Thermal Cured Acrylic PSAs Synthesized by UV-polymerization (UV 중합을 활용하여 제조된 열경화형 아크릴 점착제의 경화특성 및 접착특성 분석)

  • Many methods for cross-linking acrylic PSAs have been discussed previously. For high cross-linking density, epoxy functionalized monomer and methyl aziridines as cross-linking agents were used in this study. Additionally, photopolymerization using different UV doses was investigated to synthesize a binder because of its rapid productivity. FT-IR analysis, curing behaviours and adhesion performance were examined for the relationship between UV doses and temperature as curing conditions. According to the results, the gel fraction was over 50% even at $120^{\circ}C$ after UV curing at a dose of $800mJ/cm^2$. On the other hand, while gel fractions of all samples reached approximately 80% only at $180^{\circ}C$ in thermal curing for 1 hour, gel fractions of the samples after thermal curing for 3 hours increased rapidly above $120^{\circ}C$ regardless of UV doses and reached approximately 100% at $180^{\circ}C$. This means that the second cross-linking reaction, esterification, is mainly dependent on the curing temperature.

D-dimer as a Prognostic Tool in Patients with Normotensive Pulmonary Embolism (정상혈압 폐색전증에서 위험도 평가도구로서의 D-dimer의 역할)

  • Background: D-dimer testing is widely applied as a first step in the diagnostic work-up of pulmonary embolism (PE). Although this is the most sensitive assay for ruling out PE, the prognostic implications of D-dimer testing in patients with normotensive PE are not well known. The aim of this study was to determine if D-dimer testing on admission predicts major adverse cardiac events (MACE) in patients with normotensive PE. Methods: A total of 180 consecutive patients with normotensive PE admitted between January 2003 and June 2009 were included. The group was divided into quartiles on the basis of their D-dimer levels. We compared the frequency of MACE by quartile of D-dimer level and estimated sensitivity, specificity, and predictive values for MACE in the first and fourth quartile. Results: In the 37 (20.6%) patients with MACEs, the median D-dimer level (7.94[IQR:4.03~18.17]${\mu}g/mL$) was higher than in patients with a benign course (5.29[IQR:2.60~11.52]${\mu}g/mL$, p<0.01). The occurrence of MACEs was increased with increasing D-dimer level (p=0.017). In the first quartile (D-Dimer <$2.76{\mu}g/mL$) sensitivity, specificity, and positive and negative predictive values for predicting MACEs were, respectively, 91.9%, 29.4%, 25.2%, and 93.3%. Conclusion: Patients with D-dimer levels below $2.76{\mu}g/mL$ have a low risk of MACEs. Our study suggest that D-dimer level may be used to identify low risk patients with normotensive PE.

Study on Growth Optimization of InAs/GaSb Strained-Layer Superlattice Structures by High-Resolution XRD Analysis (고분해능 XRD 분석에 의한 InAs/GaSb 응력초격자 구조의 성장 최적화 연구)

  • For the growth optimization of InAs/GaSb (8/8-ML) strained-layer superlattice (SLS), the structure has been grown under various conditions and modes and characterized by the high-resolution x-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. In this study, the strain modulation is induced by changing parameters and modes, such as the growth temperature, the ratio of V/III beam-equivalent-pressure (BEP), and the growth interruption (GI), and the strain variation is analyzed by measuring the angle separation of 0th-order satellite peak in XRD patterns. The XRD results reveal that the growth temperature and the V/III(Sb/Ga) ratio are major parameters to change the crystallineity and the strain modulation in SLS structures, respectively. We have observed that the SLS samples with compressive strain prepared in this study are show a transition to tensile strain with decreasing V/III(Sb/Ga) ratio, and the GI process is a sensitive factor giving rise to strain modulation. These results obtained in this study suggest that optimized growth temperature and V/III(Sb/Ga) ratio are $350^{\circ}C$ and 20, respectively, and the appropriate GI time is approximately 3 seconds just before InAs growth that the crystallineity is maximized and the strain relaxation is minimized.

A Finite Element Simulation of Cancellous Bone Remodeling Based on Volumetric Strain (스폰지 뼈의 Remodeling 예측을 위한 체적 변형률을 이용한 유한요소 알고리즘)

  • The goal of this paper is to develop a computational method to predict cancellous bone density distributions based upon continuum levels of volumetric strain. Volumetric strain is defined as the summation of normal strains, excluding shear strains, within an elastic range of loadings. Volumetric strain at a particular location in a cancellous structure changes with changes of the boundary conditions (prescribed displacements, tractions, and pressure). This change in the volumetric strain is postulated to predict the adaptive change in the bone apparent density. This bone remodeling theory based on volumetric strain is then used with the finite element method to compute the apparent density distribution for cancellous bone in both lumbar spine and proximal femur using an iterative algorithm, considering the dead zone of strain stimuli. The apparent density distribution of cancellous bone predicted by this method has the same pattern as experimental data reported in the literature (Wolff 1892, Keller et al. 1989, Cody et al. 1992). The resulting bone apparent density distributions predict Young's modulus and strength distributions throughout cancellous bone in agreement with the literature (Keller et al. 1989, Carter and Hayes 1977). The method was convergent and sensitive to changes in boundary conditions. Therefore, the computational algorithm of the present study appears to be a useful approach to predict the apparent density distribution of cancellous bone (i.e. a numerical approximation for Wolff's Law)

A study on the Frequency Analysis Function of the Auricle Using A Notch Filter

  • The human auricle is the first part to receive sound from the outside. In this part, the frequency range of human recognizable form is divided and organized. In this study, we propose modeling by applying a single sound source to the surface of the human auricle. This means that when the sound pressure of a low frequency (low frequency) sound enters the pinna, the impedance felt at the tip of a part of the non-linear surface of the pinna is mainly due to the tensile force at the end of the part of the non-linear surface of the pinna. By expressing the situation of moving at a very small speed, the characteristic impedance of the pinna was confirmed to be negative infinity, and it was also confirmed that the speed at the tip of a part of the non-linear surface of the pinna was 0 in the anti-resonance state. It was found that the wave propagation phenomenon that determines the characteristics of the filter is determined by how large the wavelength, kL, is compared to the length of the tip of a part of the non-straight surface of the pinna. Humans first receive sounds from outside through their ears. The auricle is non-linear and has a curved shape, and it is known that it analyzes frequencies while receiving external sounds. The human ear has an audible frequency range of 20Hz - 20,000Hz. Through the study, we applied the characteristics of the notch filter to hypothesize that the human audible frequency range is separated from the auricle, and applied filter theory to analyze it, and as a result, meaningful results were obtained. The curved part and the inner part of the auricle function as a trumpet, collecting sounds, and at the same time amplifying the weak sound of a specific band. The point was found and the shape of the envelope detected in the auricle was found. Selectivity for selecting sounds coming from the outside is the formula of the pinna that implements the function of Q. The function of distinguishing human-recognizable sound from the pinna from low to high through frequency analysis is performed in the pinna, and the 2-3kHz area, where human hearing threshold is the most sensitive, is also the acoustic impedance of the most recessed area of the pinna.   • Recently PBD method, one of acceleration of consolidation methods is used in the soft ground to shorten consolidation time for fast settlement during construction. It is economical and easy to work. Discharge capacity of PBD is sensitive in proportion to thickness of soft ground layer, and drainage of PBD declines due to disturbance effect in surrounding ground by mandrel used for vertical drainage setting and setting machines and type. Also, deviation of discharge capacity is large according to ground condition, construction condition and soil properties. In addition, when embankment loading is not conducted instantly after PBD setting due to rain or lack of embankment material supply, it causes leaving period problems. But cause and analysis of those problems for discharge capacity is lack. So, in this test, ground improvement and discharge capacity is investigated by implementing composite discharge capacity test for analysis of an effect factor of PBD discharge capacity with leaving period. After fixing the vertical drain on a cylindrical cylinder, put churned sample into the cylinder. Then leave 0day, 30day, 60day and 90day. And then, load following the loading step of 30, 70 and 120kPa using a pressure device. As a result, the longer leaving period, discharge capacity is reduced. It is caused by a decrease of discharge area caused by creep transformation moisture absorption of PBD filter after long leaving period.

Performance Measurement of The Hybrid Sheet with Dual Function of Electromagnetic-Shielding and Heat-Dissipating (전자파차폐 및 방열 기능을 가지는 하이브리드시트 성능측정)

  • This paper presents the performance measurement results of a hybrid sheet with both shielding and heat dissipation functions developed by laminating copper mesh sheets and natural graphite sheets, which are used widely as electromagnetic shielding and heat-dissipating materials in electronic devices, without a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA). The results were compared by measuring the vertical and horizontal thermal conductivity with two other products to confirm the heat dissipation performance. A radiation emission test confirmed the electromagnetic shielding performance using a 3m electromagnetic anechoic chamber according to the CISPR 11 standard. In the case of vertical thermal conductivity, the proposed hybrid sheet was approximately 8.63 times higher than that of an aluminum sheet with heat dissipation coating and 18.7 times higher than that of a copper sheet laminated with artificial graphite with PSA. The proposed hybrid sheet was approximately 0.64 times that of the sheet, and approximately 1.76 times that of the heat-dissipated aluminum sheet in case of horizontal thermal conductivity. Measurements after applying each sheet in the same heat source revealed the proposed hybrid sheet to have the best heat dissipation performance. The radiation emission test showed that significantly radiation noise had been removed.

A Study on the Hydraulic Properties of Domestic Clay/Crushed Rock Mixture for the Backfill Material in a Radioactive Waste Repository (방사성폐기물 처분장 되메움재를 위한 국산점토/분쇄암석 혼합물의 수리특성에 관한 연구)

  • The hydraulic properties of domestic natural clay/crushed rock mixture suggested as a candidate backfill material for the low and intermediate level waste repository were investigated. The dry density-water content relationship was studied to define an optimum water content that gives a maximum attainable dry density at constant compaction pressure. The hydraulic conductivities of clay/crushed rock mixture as a function of clay content were also measured. As the clay content decreased, the maximum attainable dry density increased and the optimum water content became more distinct. However the attainable density is not significantly sensitive to water content. The hydraulic conductivities of the mixture increased from 5 $\times$ 10$^{-12}$ m/s to 7 $\times$ 10$^{-10}$ m/s with clay content decreasing from 100 wt.% to 25 wt.% at dry density of 1.2 Mg/㎥. In case of dry density of 1.5 Mg/㎥, they maintain the lower values of 5 $\times$ 10$^{-12}$ m/s even at 25 wt.% clay content. The concept of effective clay dry density was suggested to estimate the hydraulic conductivity of the mixture. It was shown that the effective clay dry density concept can explain welt the hydraulic conductivities of the mixtures with various dry density and crushed rock content.

Field Evaluation of Traffic Wandering Effect on Asphalt Pavement Responses (차량의 횡방향 주행이격에 의한 아스팔트 콘크리트 포장의 응답특성 분석)

  • This paper presents an experimental evaluation of wandering effect on asphalt concrete pavement responses. A laser-based wandering system has been developed and its performance is verified under various field conditions. The portable wandering system composed of two laser sensors with Position Sensitive Devices can allow one to measure the distance between laser sensors and tire edges of moving vehicle. Therefore, lateral position of each wheel on the pavement can be determined in a real time manner. Pavement responses due to different loading paths are investigated using a roll over test which is carried out on one of asphalt surfaced pavements in the Korea Highway Corporation test road. The pavement section (A5) consists of 5 cm thick surface course; 7 cm intermediate course; and 18 mm base course, and is heavily instrumented with strain gauges, vertical soil pressure cells and thermo-couples. From the center of wheel paths, seven equally-spaced lateral loading paths are carefully selected over an 140 cm wandering zone. Test results show that lateral horizontal strains in both surface and intermediate courses are mostly compressive right under the loading path and tensile strains start to develop as the loading offset becomes 40 cm from the wheel path. The development of the vertical stresses in the top layers of subbase and anti-frost is found to be minimal once the loading offset becomes 50 cm.

Determinants of Foreign Investment in the Korean Bonds by Maturity and Market Impacts (외국인의 만기별 국내 채권투자 결정요인과 채권시장 영향)

  • We examine the motives of foreigner's investments in the Korean bonds by maturity and try to prove that market impacts are different by their investment maturity. Foreign investors initially focused on short-term bonds, but have expanded to mid- to long-term bonds since 2010. The previous studies found that covered interest arbitrage was the main reason for foreign investment. However, there should be some other reasons as their investment in mid- to long-term bonds might have nothing to do with arbitrage. In the empirical analysis, we found that foreign investment in bonds with less than 2 year maturity is driven by arbitrage as previous studies. However, investment in bonds with 2-5 year maturity is sensitive to the FX volatility and the stock market performance compared with the U.S. and investment in bonds with more than 5 year maturity is driven by the CDS premium differential between Korea and PIIGS countries. The more foreigners have invested mid- to long-term bonds, the stronger downward pressure has been on the bond yields. In addition, foreign investors indirectly affected the spreads. Meanwhile, the government should prepare some policy measures since concerns over side effects such as the Korean won appreciation and an abrupt capital outflow are arising.
