Predictions of diesel particulate filtration are typically made by modeling of a particle collection, and providing particle trapping levels in terms of a pressure drop. In the present study, a series of single channel diesel particulate filter (DPF) experiments are conducted, the pressure traces are inversely analyzed and essential filtration parameters are deducted for model closure. A DPF filtration model is formulated with a non-linear description of soot cake regression. Dependence of soot cake porosity, packing density, permeability, and soot density in filter walls on convective-diffusive particle transportation is examined. Sensitivity analysis was conducted on model parameters, relevant to the mode of transition. Soot cake porosity and soot packing density show low degrees of dispersion with respect to the Peclet number and have asymptotes at 0.97 and $70\;kg/m^3$, respectively, at high Peclet number. Soot density in the filter wall, which is inversely proportional to filter wall Peclet number, controls the filtration mode transition but exerts no influence on termination pressure drop. The percolation constant greatly alters the extent of pressure drop, but is insensitive to volumetric flow rate or temperature of exhaust gas at fixed operation mode.

Materials that can be used for 3D printing have been developed in terms of phase and functionality. Materials should also be easily printed with high accuracy. In recent years, the concept of 4D printing has been extended to materials whose physical properties such as shape or volume can change depending on the environment. Typically, such high-performance 3D printing materials include bio-inks and inks for sensors. This study deals with the optimization of the manufacturing method to improve the functional properties of the pressure sensitive material, which can be used as a sensor based on change of the resistance according to the pressure. Specifically, the number of milling for dispersion, the ratio of hardener for controlling elasticity, and the content of MWCNTs were optimized. As a result, a method of manufacturing a highly sensitive pressure-sensitive ink capable of use in 3D printing was introduced.
In this article, vapor bubble nucleation in liquid and the evaporation process of a liquid droplet at its superheat limit were discussed from the viewpoint of molecular clustering (molecular cluster model for bubble nucleation). For the vapor bubble formation, the energy barrier against bubble nucleation was estimated by the molecular interaction due to the London dispersion force. Bubble nucleation by quantum tunneling in liquid helium under negative pressure near the absolute zero temperature and bubble nucleation on cavity free micro heaters were also presented as the homogenous nucleation processes.
For the unconfined vapor cloud explosion accident by the continuous release of gas-liquid flow of various saturated liquids in a vessel at ground level, overpressures were estimated and analyzed with various release conditions and materials by TNT equivalency model with vapor dispersion. We found that at same release conditions, overpressure showed n-heptane > xylene > n-hexane > toluene > n-heptane > benzene, respectively and that overpressure was increased with increasing the hole diameter and the storage pressure, but it was increased with decreasing the wind speed, the interested distance, and the vessel thickness.
Solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs) have been regarded to behave similar to the vegetable oil emulsions because emulsions of lipid melts are formed before lipid droplets being solidified to turn into SLNs. Compared to lipid emulsion, however, it has been more difficult to obtain stable SLNs and needs more extensive considerations on stabilizer and manufacturing process. In the present study, we tried to prepare phosphatidylcholine-based trymyristin (TM) SLNs using high pressure homogenization method and optimize the manufacturing variables such as homogenization pressure, number of homogenization cycles, cooling temperature, co-stabilizer and freeze-drying with cryoprotectants. Nano-sized TM particles could be Prepared using egg Phosphatidylcholine and pegylated phospholipids ($PEG_{2000}$PE) as stabilizers. Based on the optimization study, the dispersion was manufactured by homogenization under the pressure of 100 MPa for more than 5 cycles, and solidifying the intermediately formed lipid melt droplets by dipping in liquid nitrogen followed by thawing at room temperature. In addition, TM SLNs could be freeze-dried and then redispersed easily without significant particle size changes after freeze drying with 10% and 12.5% sucrose or trehalose. The TM SLNs established in this study can be used as delivery system for drugs and cosmetics.
Conventional cold isostatic pressing, slip casting, and filter pressing are not completely suitable for fabricating large plates because of disadvantages such as the high cost of equipment and formation of density gradient. These problems could be avoided by employing pressure-vacuum hybrid slip casting (PVHSC). In the PVHSC, the consolidation occurs not only by the compression of the slip in casting room, but also by vacuum sucking of the dispersion medium around the mold. We prepared the alumina bodies by the PVHSC in a static- or stepwise-pressure manner for loading up to 0.5 MPa using an aqueous slip. The green bodies were dried at $30^{\circ}C$ with 40 ~ 80% relative humidity. Under static pressure, casting induced a density gradient in the formed body, resulting in cracking and distortion after the firing. However, the stepwise pressure loading resulted in green bodies with homogeneous density, and the minimization of the appearance of those defects in final products. Desirable drying results were obtained from the cast bodies dried with 80% RH environment humidity. When sintered at $1650^{\circ}C$ for 4 h, the alumina plate made by stepwise-pressure casting reached full density (> 99.7% relative density).

The main objective of this paper is to design and test a new type of polymer ZnO surge arrester for AC power system of railroad vehicles. Metal oxide surge arrester for most electric power system applications, electric train and must not have explosive breakage of the housing to minimize damage to other equipment when subjected to internal high short circuit current. When breakdown of ZnO elements in a surge arrester occurs due to flashover, fault short current flows through the arrester and internal pressure of the arrester rises. The pressure rise can usually be limited by fitting a pressure relief diaphragm and transferring the arc from the inside to the outside of the housing. However, there is possibility of porcelain fragmentation caused by the thermal shock. pressure rise, etc. Non-fragmenting of the housing is the most desired way to prevent damage to other equipment. The pressure change which is occurred by flashover become discharge energy. This discharge energy raises to damage arrester housing and arrester housing is dispersed as small fragment. Therefore, the pressure relief design is requested to obstruct housing dispersion. The main research works are focused on the structure design by finite element method, pressure relief of module, and studies of performance of surge arrester for electric railway vehicle.

Liquefied petroleum gas(LPG) has been used as motor fuel due to its low emissions and low cost. The fuel feeding system has been improved with stringent requirement for exhaust emissions. LPG carburation system was firstly introduced, then the system changed into a gas injection system controlled precisely, but those gas feeding system has a limitation on improving power output. In order to improve an engine performance, a multi-point port injection system was introduced recently, and a liquid direct injection system into a cylinder was suggested as a next generation system to maximize a fuel economy as well as a power. This study addresses the analysis of the LPG spray from diesel injectors. The spray images are visualized and compared with diesel sprays in a wide injection pressure range. The photographs show much wider dispersion of LPG sprays.
In this paper, Co-Cr thin films which are known for a excellent perpendicular magnetic recording media were prepared. Changing target- substrate distance, Ar gas pressure and arriving atoms, the incident angle and c-axis orientation properties by using the facing targets sputtering system. We evaluated the c-axis dispersion angle by measu ring half-height width with Micro area X-Ray Diffractometer, measured the thickness of thin film with Ellipsometer. The magnetic properties were compared measuring in-plane squareness and perpendicular coercivity with vibrating sample Magnetometer.
