정면밀링 절삭력 예측을 위한 이론적 모델링 (Theoretical Modeling for the Prediction of Face Milling Forces)

  • In order to design establish automation or optimization of the machining process, predictions of the forces in machining are often needed. In this paper, a theoretical model in face milling is presented based on Oxley's predictive machining theory, where the cutting forces are predicted from input data of fundamental work material properties, tool geometry and cutting conditions without any preliminary cutting experiment. A simulation system for the cutting forces in face milling is developed using the model. Milling experimental tests are conducted to verify the model and the predictive results are compared and discussed with the experimental results.

Histomorphometric Analysis of Two Types of Coated Implants : a Preliminary Study Using the Rabbit Tibia Model

  • Purpose : The purpose of this pilot experiment was to evaluate early bone response in two types of coated implants using the rabbit tibia model. Materials and Methods : Screw type titanium implants manufactured with a calcium metaphosphate (CMP) coating and hydroxyapatite (HA) coating were placed in the tibiae of 3 New Zealand White rabbits. The bone responses at 2 weeks after insertion were evaluated and compared by histomorphometry. Results : There was no significant difference in bone-to-implant contact between the groups (P>.05). However, some qualitative differences on histologic views were found. Conclusions : CMP-coating is suggested to be the preferred candidate for fast osseointegration over HAcoating.

  • In this study, for purpose of having a prediction on the flowability of mortar, we use the theory of excess paste, which gives a relationship between viscosity of paste versus water-binder ratio and mortar flow versus relative excess paste volume. Pastes and Mortars with four different mix proportions incorporating mineral admixtures were prepared. As a result of experiment, it seems that high flowability of mortar can be attributed to both lower viscosity of paste and increasing the volume of excess paste.

작은 화면 기기에서의 출력을 위한 신문기사 헤드라인 형식의 문장 축약 시스템 (Sentence Compression of Headline-style Abstract for Displaying in Small Devices)

  • 모바일 디바이스와 같이 작은 필기의 화면을 갖는 기기에서는 긴 문장의 내용을 한눈에 파악하기가 쉽지 않다. 본 논문에서는 신문기사와 그 헤드라인으로부터 추출한 정보로부터 문장을 자동으로 축약할 수 있는 시스템을 제안하고자 한다. 축약된 문장은 문장 내의 필수적이지 않은 요소들을 제거함으로써 그 기본 의미는 그대로 전달하되 문장의 길이를 축소시킨 것이다. 신문기사의 헤드라인으로부터 문장 축약 방법을 학습하였기 때문에 매우 간결한 형태로 문장을 축약할 수 있다 예비 실험을 통해 본 논문에서 제안하고 있는 시스템이 생성해 내는 축약문장이 유용함을 보이고자 한다.

  • In this study, a spatial 3-dof haptic mechanism is implemented. The implemented mechanism does not employ the gear transmissions as velocity reducers for all three joints but uses wire-based transmissions, thereby it is able to minimize the frictions significantly. Also, by employing the structure of the four-bar mechanism to drive third joint from close to the base, the mechanism is able to minimize the inertia effect from the third actuator very effectively. Its kinematic analysis such as position and velocity analyses are performed first. Then, its operating software development, hardware implementation, and the related interfaces between a PC and the implemented Haptic device are completed. To evaluate its potential and its performance as a haptic device, a experiment generating a virtual constraint in a operational task space is conducted and preliminary results are discussed.

  • Large-scaling recycling of demolished concrete will contribute not only to the solution of a growing waste disposal problem. it will also help to conserve natural resoures of sand and gravel and to secure future supply of reasonly priced aggregates for builiding and other construction purposes within large urban areas. because recycled aggregate particles consist of substaintial amount of relatively soft cement paste component, it is less resistant to mechanical actions. With this view in mind, to obtain a reference data for the development of recycling system and to a basic data the guideline of recycled aggregate concrete construction and mix design, this study deals with the comparative analysis of the workability and engineering properties of recycled aggregate concrete according to the factors, such as blending ratio of recycled aggregate with the natural aggregate, addition of flyash, water cement ration.

자세인식과 졸음운전과의 상관관계에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Relationship between Posture Recognition and Drowsy Driving)

  • Recently, there have been a lot of sleepy driving accidents. In this study, we conducted a preliminary study for detecting drowsiness using posture and image processing technology. We used pressure sensors to study posture. We also investigated the possibility of drowsy recognition using histogram. As a result of the experiment, it was possible to distinguish positions through pressure sensors. Also, it was confirmed that the drowsiness phenomenon can be distinguished by using the histogram.

Speech Rhythm Metrics for Automatic Scoring of English Speech by Korean EFL Learners

  • Knowledge in linguistic rhythm of the target language plays a major role in foreign language proficiency. This study attempts to discover valid rhythm features that can be utilized in automatic assessment of non-native English pronunciation. Eight previously proposed and two novel rhythm metrics are investigated with 360 English read speech tokens obtained from 27 Korean learners and 9 native speakers. It is found that some of the speech-rate normalized interval measures and above-word level metrics are effective enough to be further applied for automatic scoring as they are significantly correlated with speakers' proficiency levels. It is also shown that metrics need to be dynamically selected depending upon the structure of target sentences. Results from a preliminary auto-scoring experiment through a Multi Regression analysis suggest that appropriate control of unexpected input utterances is also desirable for better performance.

  • The steel impeller placed in a water pump has been studied with the aim to understand corrosion phenomena on the surface responsible for reducing the pumping efficiency of water inside cooling system. This preliminary experiment includes a period (around 1 month) observation with a powered microscope and weight measurements. The experiments are carried out at different conditions of water and mixtures of water and coolants, based on the water contents of 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% water (pure tap water). From the visual results of microscopy, most of the steel surface is fitted and clear rusty or corrosion phenomena are noticeable as time goes. In addition, the weight loss of the sample specimen submerged in the water is linearly increased, whereas those in the mixtures of water initially gain weight and become almost constant.

  • In this past decade, industrial robot have substituted human workers successfully in certain areas, however, the applications are limited due to the shortcoming in their mechanism and control strategies. Many researchers, therefore, have focused on improving the mechanical and sensory capabilities. Developing mult-degree-of-freedom end effectors, in other words robot hands, is one of the topics that researchers have begun to improve the limitation. A set of direct drive type servo-pneumatic finger joint has been developed for a dexterous robot hand. To control the pneumatic finger joints, a prototype 4/3-way proportional control valve has been designed and tested as a preliminary, research for the control of the pneumatic finger joints. A series of experiments have been conducted to verify the performance characteristics of the valve and the conventional proportional error contral with minor-loop compensation has been used to control the anguar position of the finger joints.
