The model predictive control is an effective method to optimize the current control input that predicts the current control state and the future error using the predictive model of the control system when the reference trajectory is known. Since the control input can not have a physically infinitely large value, a predictive controller design with constraints should be considered. In addition, the reference model $A_r$ and the weight matrices Q, R that determine the control performance of the predictive controller are not optimized as arbitrarily designated should be considered in the controller design. In this study, we construct a predictive controller of a mobile robot by transforming it into a quadratic programming problem with constraints, The control performance of the mobile robot can be improved by optimizing the control parameters of the predictive controller that determines the control performance of the mobile robot using genetic algorithm. Through the computer simulation, the superiority of the proposed method is confirmed by comparing with the existing method.
This paper presents a full digital control strategy for parallel connected modular inverter systems. Each modular inverter is a high frequency (HF) AC link inverter which is composed of a HF inverter and a HF transformer followed by a cycloconverter. To achieve equal sharing of the load current and to suppress the circulating currents among the modules, a three-loop control strategy, consisting of a common output voltage regulation (OVR) loop, individual circulating current suppression (CCS) loops and individual inner current tracking (ICT) loops, is proposed. The ICT loops are implemented with predictive current control from which high precision current tracking can be obtained. The effectiveness of the proposed control strategy is verified by simulation and experimental results from parallel connected two full-bridge HF AC link inverter modules.
In a digital system, there are inevitable delays in calculations and applying the inverter output voltages to the motor terminals. Because of the delays, the conventional predictive current controller implemented in the digital system has large overshoot and large harmonics. A new predictive current controller, considering the delays, for a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) is presented. The effectiveness and feasibilities are shown by experimental results.
Dual-mode photovoltaic power system should be capable of operating in grid-connected (GC) and stand-alone (SA) modes for distributed generation. Under different working modes, the optimal parameters of inverter output filters vary. Inverters commonly operate in GC mode, and thus, a small capacitance is beneficial to the GC topology for achieving a reasonable compromise. A predictive current control scheme is proposed to control the grid current in GC mode and thereby obtain high-performance power. As filter are not optimal under SA mode, a compound control strategy consisting of predictive current control, instantaneous voltage control, and repetitive control is proposed to achieve low total harmonic distortion and improve the output voltage spectrum. The seamless transfer between GC mode and SA mode is illustrated in detail. Finally, the simulation and experimental results of a 4 kVA prototype demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy.
This paper deals with the attitude control problem of nonlinear MIMO propeller setup. Multivariable GPC[Generalized Predictive Control] is adopted as the main controller, and it is implemented by TMS320C31 in the current paper. The main object of control is to move the propellers to wanted positions. System identification is performed to configure the system. Performance of the multivariable predictive controller implemented is shown via some experiments, which shows the controller meets the adequate control purpose.
Harmonic current mitigation is vital in power distribution networks owing to the inflow of nonlinear loads, distributed generation, and renewable energy sources. The active power filter (APF) is the current electrical equipment that can dynamically compensate for harmonic distortion and eliminate asymmetrical loads. The compensation performance of an APF largely depends on the control strategy applied to the voltage source inverter (VSI). Model predictive control (MPC) has been demonstrated to be one of the effective control approaches to providing fast dynamic responses. This approach covers different types of power converters due to its several advantages, such as flexible control scheme and simple inclusion of nonlinearities and constraints within the controller design. In this study, a finite control set-MPC technique is proposed for the control of VSIs. Unlike conventional control methods, the proposed technique uses a discrete time model of the shunt APF to predict the future behavior of harmonic currents and determine the cost function so as to optimize current errors through the selection of appropriate switching states. The viability of this strategy in terms of harmonic mitigation is verified in MATLAB/Simulink. Experimental results show that MPC performs well in terms of reduced total harmonic distortion and is effective in APFs.

This paper proposes a deadbeat current controller using predictive current method for three-phase shunt active power filter (SAPF). In proposed controller, the compensating current reference which is necessary for the deadbeat control is estimated by using the predictive current method. This method can improve the accuracy of compensation and ensure the fast dynamic response of SAPF. Simulations have been carried out to demonstrate the perfomance of SAPF using proposed control method.
We present a two-stage inverter with high step-up conversion ratio engaging modified finite-set Model Predictive Control (MPC) for utility-integrated photovoltaic (PV) applications. The anticipated arrangement is fit for low power PV uses, the calculated efficiency at 150 W input power and 19 times boosting ratio was around 94%. The suggested high-gain dc-dc converter based on Cockcroft-Walton multiplier constitutes the first-stage of the offered structure, due to its high step-up ability. It can boost the input voltage up to 20 times. The 3S current-source inverter constitutes the second-stage. The 3S current-source inverter hires three semiconductor switches, in which one is functioning at high-frequency and the others are operating at fundamental-frequency. The high-switching pulses are varied in the procedure of unidirectional sine-wave to engender a current coordinated with the utility-voltage. The unidirectional current is shaped into alternating current by the synchronized push-pull configuration. The MPC process are intended to control the scheme and achieve the subsequent tasks, take out the Maximum Power (MP) from the PV, step-up the PV voltage, and introduces low current with low Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) and with unity power factor with the grid voltage.
In this paper, a high performance current control strategy for a Brushless DC Motor is presented. The proposed strategy is based on the ramp comparison PI current control with the predictive voltage compensation. The proposed strategy is compared with the hysteresis current control strategy. The proposed method can improve the current waveforms, and it can reduce the torque ripples. So the proposed strategy is suitable to a high performance current control strategy for a Brushless DC Motor. The simulation and experimental results for a laboratory Brushless DC motor drive system confirm the validity of the proposed strategy.

In this work, a new method of design adaptive controllers for SISO systems based on multiple models and switching is presented. The controller selects the model from a given set, according to a switching rule based on output prediction errors. The goal is to design, at each sample instant, a predictive control law that ensures the robust stability of the closed-loop system and achieves the best performance for the current operating point. At each sample the proposed control scheme identifies a set of linear models that best characterizes the dynamics of the current operating region. Then, it carries out an automatic reconfiguration of the controller to achieve the best possible performance whilst providing a guarantee of robust closed-loop stability. The results are illustrated by simulations a nonlinear continuous and stirred tank reactor.
