Formation of Shell-Shaped Carbon Nanoparticles through Critical Transition in Irradiated Acetylene (레이저가 조사된 아세틸렌에서의 임계전이를 거쳐서 형성된 쉘 형상 카본 나노입자에 관한 연구)

  • Shell shaped hollow carbon nanoparticles are synthesized in the oxygen-hydrogen diffusion flame with $C_{2}H_{2}$ as precursor when it is irradiated with $CO_{2}$ laser of certain power. Below this power of laser, we couldn't get any other but amorphous soot. This shell shaped hollow carbon nanoparticles shows outer wall of high degree of crystallinity with void space inside of itself. And size distribution of these nanoparticles is measured with TEM image analysis. Also the structural comparison between this carbon nanoparticle and soot is done by Raman and XRD measurement. These results show this carbon nanoparticles are of grapheme structure, which means it has good crystallinity when compared with soot.

Microbial Production and Characterization of Superparamagnetic Magnetite Nanoparticles by Shewanella sp. HN-41

  • A facultative dissimilatory metal-reducing bacterium, Shewanella sp. strain HN-41, was used to produce magnetite nanoparticles from a precursor, poorly crystalline iron-oxyhydroxide akaganeite ($\beta$-FeOOH), by reducing Fe(III). The diameter of the biogenic magnetite nanoparticles ranged from 26 nm to 38 nm, characterized by dynamic light scattering spectrophotometry. The magnetite nanoparticles consisted of mostly uniformly shaped spheres, which were identified by electron microscopy. The magnetometry revealed the superparamagnetic property of the magnetic nanoparticles. The atomic structure of the biogenic magnetite, which was determined by extended X-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopic analysis, showed similar atomic structural parameters, such as atomic distances and coordinations, to typical magnetite mineral.

Synthesis of poly(dialkyl or monoalkyl)silanes as silicon carbide precursors for ceramic matrix composites (탄화규소 선구물질로서의 폴리(디알킬 또는 모노알킬)실란들의 합성과 세라믹 복합체 응용)

  • Polyalkylsilanes such as poly(dialkyl)silanes and poly(monoalkyl)silanes were synthesized by sonochemical dechlorination-condensation method from (dialkyl or monoalkyl)chlorosilanes with sodium metal. Those polyalkylsilanes were analyzed for the properties such as thermal behaviors from TGA analysis and obtained ceramic yields of 10-20% for poly(dialkyl)silanes and 40-60% for poly(monoalkyl)silanes. Ceramic composite discs were prepared by the combined mixture of polyalkylsilanes and SiC powder and were tested by TGA and analyzed by SEM and XRD for the application as binder for ceramic composite precursors.

Self-Cleaning and Photocatalytic Performance of TiO2 Coating Films Prepared by Peroxo Titanic Acid

  • Self-cleaning and photocatalytic $TiO_2$ thin films were prepared by a facile sol-gel method followed by spin coating using peroxo titanic acid as a precursor. The as-prepared thin films were heated at low temperature($110^{\circ}C$) and high temperature ($400^{\circ}C$). Thin films were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD), Field-emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM), UV-Visible spectroscopy and water contact angle measurement. XRD analysis confirms the low crystallinity of thin films prepared at low temperature, while crystalline anatase phase was found the for high temperature thin film. The photocatalytic activity of thin films was studied by the photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue dye solution. Self-cleaning and photocatalytic performance of both low and high temperature thin films were compared.

Isomeric Trimethylbenzyl Radicals Produced by Corona Discharge of 1,2,3,5-Tetramethylbenzene

  • Isomeric trimethylbenzyl radicals were generated and vibronically excited from precursor 1,2,3,5-tetramethylbenzene, isodurene, with a large amount inert carrier gas helium in a corona excited supersonic expansion (CESE) using a pinhole-type glass nozzle. A long-path monochromator was used to record the visible vibronic emission spectra of the jet-cooled benzyl-type radicals in the $D_1{\rightarrow}D_0$ electronic transition. From the analysis of the spectra, we identified the evidence of the presence of three isomeric trimethylbenzyl radicals in the corona discharge, and obtained the electronic energy and a few vibrational mode frequencies in the ground electronic state for each isomer.

Preparation of Alumina by the Sol-Gel Process (II) Characteristics of Powders Obtained by Polymeric Alumina Sol (졸겔법에 의한 알루미나의 제조(II) : 중합졸로부터 제조한 분말의 특성)

  • Alumina precursor sol was obtained by the reaction of Al(OC4H9)3 and acetylacetone in the solvent followed by the partial hydrolysis. This sol was measured by viscosity and the effect of pH. The powders obtained from this sol were calcined at the various temperatures. The transition of crystals and crystal state were investigated at the various temperatures. The powders dried at 90$^{\circ}C$ showed amorphous and ${\gamma}$-Al2O3 at 900$^{\circ}C$, ${\alpha}$-Al2O3 mono-phase at 1050$^{\circ}C$ respectively. As a result of Al27-MASNMR analysis, amorphous and ${\alpha}$-Al2O3 powders showed 6-coordinated Al, ${\gamma}$-Al2O3 4-coordinated Al respectively.

  • We have prepared CIGS thin film absorber layers with simple solution spray deposition technique and thin film were synthesized with different atomic ratio. CIGS thin films were synthesized using non-vacuum solution deposition method on pre-heated sodalime glass substrates and Mo-coated soadlime glass substrate. In precursor solution were Cu : In : Ga: S ratio 4 : 3 : 2 : 8 and the crystal type of sprayed thin film were CIGS chalcopyrite structures. This structure was identified as typical chalcopyrite tetragonal structure with XRD analysis. This result showed that CIGS solution deposition technique has potential for the one step synthesis and low cost fabrication process for CIS or CIGS thin film absorber layer.

  • This paper presents a therapy that uses a constant drug dosage for leading a HIV patient to a LTNP (Long-Tenn Non-Progressor). From analysis of CTLp (Cytotoxic T Lymphocyte precursor) concentration at equilibrium point and bifurcation of equilibrium points, we found the therapy with a drug whose efficacy is less than one brings higher CTLp concentration at the equilibrium point. From this fact, we propose a treatment with constant drug dosage. which can induce LTNP.

Low temperature UV-assisted rapid thermal processing of (Ba,Sr)$TiO_3$ thin films (저온에서 (Ba,Sr)$TiO_3$ 박막의 UV를 이용한 RTP에 관한 연구)

  • Chemically homogeneous $Ba_{0.6}Sr_{0.4}TiO_3$ (BST) sols were synthesized using barium acetate, strontium acetate, and titanium isoproxide as starting materials. BST thin films of thickness 340 nm were deposited on Pt/$TiO_2/SiO_2$/Si and alumina substrates using spin coating method. The technique used for the processing of these films was Ultraviolet (UV) sol-gel photoannealing, using phto-sensitivity precursor solutions and UV-assisted rapid thermal processing(UV-RTP). The crystallization behaviour of the BST sols and thin films was studied by differential thermal analysis (DTA) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Variation of permittivity and dielectric loss were measured in LCR-meter, model HP 4394A.

  • Numerical calculation has been performed to investigate the fluid flow, heat transfer and local mass fraction of chemical species in the MOCVD (metalorganic chemical vapor deposition) manufacturing process. The mixing of reactants (trimethylgallium with hydrogen gas and ammonia) was presented by the concentration of each reactants to predict the uniformity of film growth. Effects of inlet size, location, mass flow rate and susceptor/cold wall tilt angle on the concentration were reported. The newly developed reactor, that precursors were supplied at separated inlet to prevent from premixing, was investigated to obtain the quantitative verification. As a results, the optimum mass flow rate, wall tilt angle and inlet conditions were proposed.
