Acoustic Emission Monitoring during Laser Spot Welding of Stainless Steel Sheets (스테인레스 박강판의 레이저 점 용접 시 음향방출 실시간 모니터링)

  • Compared with conventional welding, laser spot welding offers a unique combination of high speed, precision and low heat distortion. This combination of advantages is attractive for manufacturing industries including automotive and electronics companies. In this paper, a real time monitoring scheme fur a pulsed Nd:YAG laser spot welding was suggested. Acoustic emission (AE) signals were collected during welding and analyzed for given process conditions such as laser power and pulse duration. A back propagation artificial neural network, with AE frequency content inputs, was used to predict the weldability of stainless steel sheets.

  • Laser welding of metals has been widely used to improve a wear resistance and a corrosion resistance of the industrial parts. The objective of this research works is to investigate the influence of the process parameters, such as the welding for metals with CW Nd:YAG lasers. The bead-on-plate welding tests are carried out for several combinations of the experimental conditions. In order to quantitatively examine the characteristics of the butt welding, the welding quality of the cut section, stain-stress behavior and the hardness of the welded part are investigated. From the results of the investigation, it has been shown that the optimal welding condition without defects in the vicinity of the welded area and with a good welding quality is 1325W of the laser power, and 1.4m/min of laser welding speed.

  • A robot application system is developed for dual purpose of stud welding and are welding to weld plates in the manufacturing of elevator cabin. The production quantity is not so big to accommodate separate stations for stud welding and are welding respectively while the need for randomization of the processes is urgent. A robot with specification for spot welding is chosen, which is appropriate for stud welding. Some implementations are made so that the robot may also be shared for are welding process. Common jig and fixture is designed for the dual purpose. Important aspects in the procedure of system design, installation, and commissioning are stated, and signal set-ups and logic diagrams are illustrated.
