This study is aimed at to examine the stress redistribution mechanism for tunneling in an unconsolidated ground with inclined layers through model tests. To make the unconsolidated ground, two dimensional model ground is prepared with aluminum rods and blocks, which are frictional resistance free between testing apparatus walls and ground materials, by establishing the ground materials self-supporting. It is carried out to measure the ground deformation and the stress redistribution for model ground with tunneling by measuring apparatus respectively. For the ground deformation, surface settlements are measured to examine the deformation features during tunnel excavation. For the stress redistribution, the earth pressure acting on both the tunneling part and its surrounding parts is measured to examine their mutual relationship. Based on test results, precise examination is conducted on the stress redistribution mechanism in the unconsolidated ground with inclined layers during tunnel construction.

This paper studied the cause of the deterioration of the four 3-Arch tunnels built in mid-1990. The common deteriorations of the four 3-Arch tunnels were longitudinal cracks, leakage and efflorescence at the same parts of lining concrete. Three fourths of 3-Arch tunnels, there was high percentage longitudinal cracks and a quarter was low frequency about longitudinal cracks. So the material reviewed to find out the differences between two groups in construction process and analysis was conducted such as non-destructive testing, precise visual survey and safety evaluation of one tunnel which had bad ground condition As the result, the tunnels were safety condition and the primary deterioration occurred during the construction process, namely, problems arrangement of rebar and the effects of the blast at middle tunnel.

A variety of influenza A viruses from animal hosts are continuously prevalent throughout the world which cause human epidemics resulting millions of human infections and enormous industrial and economic damages. Thus, early diagnosis of such pathogen is of paramount importance for biomedical examination and public healthcare screening. To approach this issue, here we propose a fully integrated Rotary genetic analysis system, called Rotary Genetic Analyzer, for on-site detection of influenza A viruses with high speed. The Rotary Genetic Analyzer is made up of four parts including a disposable microchip, a servo motor for precise and high rate spinning of the chip, thermal blocks for temperature control, and a miniaturized optical fluorescence detector as shown Fig. 1. A thermal block made from duralumin is integrated with a film heater at the bottom and a resistance temperature detector (RTD) in the middle. For the efficient performance of RT-PCR, three thermal blocks are placed on the Rotary stage and the temperature of each block is corresponded to the thermal cycling, namely $95^{\circ}C$ (denature), $58^{\circ}C$ (annealing), and $72^{\circ}C$ (extension). Rotary RT-PCR was performed to amplify the target gene which was monitored by an optical fluorescent detector above the extension block. A disposable microdevice (10 cm diameter) consists of a solid-phase extraction based sample pretreatment unit, bead chamber, and 4 ${\mu}L$ of the PCR chamber as shown Fig. 2. The microchip is fabricated using a patterned polycarbonate (PC) sheet with 1 mm thickness and a PC film with 130 ${\mu}m$ thickness, which layers are thermally bonded at $138^{\circ}C$ using acetone vapour. Silicatreated microglass beads with 150~212 ${\mu}L$ diameter are introduced into the sample pretreatment chambers and held in place by weir structure for construction of solid-phase extraction system. Fig. 3 shows strobed images of sequential loading of three samples. Three samples were loaded into the reservoir simultaneously (Fig. 3A), then the influenza A H3N2 viral RNA sample was loaded at 5000 RPM for 10 sec (Fig. 3B). Washing buffer was followed at 5000 RPM for 5 min (Fig. 3C), and angular frequency was decreased to 100 RPM for siphon priming of PCR cocktail to the channel as shown in Figure 3D. Finally the PCR cocktail was loaded to the bead chamber at 2000 RPM for 10 sec, and then RPM was increased up to 5000 RPM for 1 min to obtain the as much as PCR cocktail containing the RNA template (Fig. 3E). In this system, the wastes from RNA samples and washing buffer were transported to the waste chamber, which is fully filled to the chamber with precise optimization. Then, the PCR cocktail was able to transport to the PCR chamber. Fig. 3F shows the final image of the sample pretreatment. PCR cocktail containing RNA template is successfully isolated from waste. To detect the influenza A H3N2 virus, the purified RNA with PCR cocktail in the PCR chamber was amplified by using performed the RNA capture on the proposed microdevice. The fluorescence images were described in Figure 4A at the 0, 40 cycles. The fluorescence signal (40 cycle) was drastically increased confirming the influenza A H3N2 virus. The real-time profiles were successfully obtained using the optical fluorescence detector as shown in Figure 4B. The Rotary PCR and off-chip PCR were compared with same amount of influenza A H3N2 virus. The Ct value of Rotary PCR was smaller than the off-chip PCR without contamination. The whole process of the sample pretreatment and RT-PCR could be accomplished in 30 min on the fully integrated Rotary Genetic Analyzer system. We have demonstrated a fully integrated and portable Rotary Genetic Analyzer for detection of the gene expression of influenza A virus, which has 'Sample-in-answer-out' capability including sample pretreatment, rotary amplification, and optical detection. Target gene amplification was real-time monitored using the integrated Rotary Genetic Analyzer system.

Purpose: Multiple skin leiomyoma and uterine myoma bearing autosomal dominant traits are benign smooth muscle tumors which originate in skin or female uterus. Skin leiomyoma occurs after gene mutation originating from arrector pili muscle of hair follicle where its clinical manifestations vary significantly from person to person. Our department hereby reports the histological findings and genetic evaluations of this very rare disease. Methods: A 57-year-old woman presented in our institute with multiple tumors in the left and central parts of her back that started to appear since 19 years ago. The patient was diagnosed as having uterine myoma 15 years ago and underwent hysterectomy. Biopsy has been done on the specimen, and genomic DNA was separated from Fumarate hydratase gene for it to go through PCR amplification. The results of PCR amplification were aligned by sequencer. Results: According to the results of biopsy, tumor cells were spindle-shaped and were aligned in a bundle where there was no dysplasia or mitosis. Moreover, these cells had abundant eosinophilic cytoplasm with elongated nucleus, and benign leiomyoma that showed positive reactions to SMA stain were found. In genetic examination, mutations such as heterozygous single nucleotide substitutions were found in alignments of amplified DNA. Conclusion: Multiple skin leiomyoma and uterine myoma are relatively uncommon diseases that are transmitted through autosomally dominant traits from genetic mutations. When a patient's chief complaint lies upon skin-colored or brown masses that occur in multiples appearing in the trunk or extremities with characteristic clinical symptoms and histological findings, and when the patient's family history is acknowledged such as skin or uterine leiomyoma or renal tumor, necessary genetic examination on multiple skin leiomyoma and uterine myoma could be done, and thereby precise diagnosis could also be made.
A space, real or virtual, comprises regions as its parts and physical objects residing in them. A coherent and sophisticated representaion scheme for their spatial relations premises the precision and plausibility in its associated agents' inferencing on the spatial relations and the development of events occurring in such a space. The existing spatial models are not suitable for a comprehensive representation of the general spatial relations in that they have limited expressive powers based on the dichotomy between the large and small scales, or support only a small set of topological relations. The representaion model we propose has the following distinctive chracteristics: firstly, our model provides a comprehensive representation scheme to accommodate large and small scale spaces in an integrated fashion; secondly, our model greatly elaborated the spatial relations among the small-scale objects based on their contact relations and the compositional relations among their respective components objects beyond the basic topological relations like disjoint and touch; thirdly, our model further diversifies the types of supported relations by adding the container property besides the soildness together with considering the gravity direction. The resulting integrated spatial knowledge representation scheme considering the gravity allows the diverse spatial relations in the real world to be simulated in a precise manner in relation to the associated spatial events and provides an expression measure for the agents in such a cyber-world to capture the spatial knowledge to be used for recognizing the situations in the spatial aspects.

The number of use cases in machinery, aviation, and other industries that manufacture precise parts is increasing, and the construction industry is also increasingly using 3D printing technology. Although various materials for 3D printing are currently being developed and utilized, 3D printing manufacturing has a problem that the mechanical properties of the product may change when compared with conventional manufacturing methods such as injection and molding. This paper verifies the effect of the printing orientation on the mechanical properties of the product in the manufacture of PA12 material and providing basic data on the practical use of the materials as building subsidiary materials and structural materials. The results of the experiment showed that the product printed in the orientation of 0° showed the lowest overall strength and elongation rate, and the product printed in the orientation of 45° showed the highest figure. Overall, tensile strength and yield strength increased between 0° and 45°, and tended to decrease somewhat at 45° to 90°.

The precise analysis of exercise data for designing an effective rehabilitation system is very important as a feedback for planing the next exercising step. Many subjective and reliable research outcomes that were obtained by analysis and evaluation for the human motor ability by various methods of biomechanical experiments have been introduced. Most of them include quantitative analysis based on basic statistical methods, which are not practical enough for application to real clinical problems. In this situation, data mining technology can be a promising approach for clinical decision support system by discovering meaningful hidden rules and patterns from large volume of data obtained from the problem domain. In this research, in order to find relational rules between posture training type and muscle activation pattern, we investigated an application of the WAR(Weishted Association Rule) to the biomechanical data obtained mainly for evaluation of postural control ability. The discovered rules can be used as a quantitative prior knowledge for expert's decision making for rehabilitation plan. The discovered rules can be used as a more qualitative and useful priori knowledge for the rehabilitation and clinical expert's decision-making, and as a index for planning an optimal rehabilitation exercise model for a patient.

Various methods have been employed for acquiring beach surface data, which are used to monitor shoreline changes due to beach erosion. This study explores the possibility of constructing and implementing a surface model of beach using data acquired with a terrestrial laser scanner and RTK-GPS. Digital images and three-dimensional data of beach areas acquired at 20 cm intervals using a laser scanner were used to create a digital surface model covered with digital image. Seven months later, the beach area was surveyed using an RTK-GPS, and another beach model was constructed using the data collected with an accuracy of 1.9 cm. The use of a terrestrial laser scanner is expected to ensure acquisition of good quality results and help deal with seasonal changes in beach areas. Because readings obtained with the RTK-GPS are dependent on the number of sampling points in beach model, difficulties are encountered when fixing the survey points. However, RTK-GPS could be used to implement a three-dimensional model by correcting the hidden parts in images obtained using a terrestrial laser scanner. Therefore, an RTK-GPS and a terrestrial laser scanner can be used in combination to obtain more precise data for the construction of beach model data.

This present research was carried out by dividing two parts; field surveying and data processing, in order to analyze changed patterns of a shoreline. Firstly, the shoreline information measured by the precise GPS positioning during long duration was collected. Secondly, the algorithm for detecting an auto boundary with regards to the changed shoreline with multi-image data was developed. Then, a comparative research was conducted. Haeundae beach which is one of the most famous ones in Korea was selected as a test site. RTK-GPS surveying had been performed overall eight times from September 2005 to September 2009. The filed test by aerial Lidar was conducted twice on December 2006 and March 2009 respectively. As a result estimated from both sensors, there is a slight difference. The average length of shoreline analyzed by RTK-GPS is approximately 1,364.6 m, while one from aerial Lidar is about 1,402.5 m. In this investigation, the specific algorithm for detecting the shoreline detection was developed by Visual C++ MFC (Microsoft Foundation Class). The analysis result estimated by aerial photo and satellite image was 1,391.0 m. The level of reliability was 98.1% for auto boundary detection when it compared with real surveying data.
The antennae of millipedes have a prominent function in detecting various types of environmental stimuli, and structural modification of the antennae is closely associated with the degree of sense recognition. Although the biological significance of the antennal sensillae to millipedes are widely understood, the structure and function of the antennal sensillae are still not clear and more precise analysis is required. We have analysed the ultrastructural characteristics of the antennal sensillae in a millipede Anaulaciulus koreanus koreanus using field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM). According to their morphological and substructural features, we could identify three different types of antennal sensillae as follows: trichoid sensilla (TS), chaetiform sensilla (CS) and basiconic sensilla (BS). The TS on the articles are long, blunt-tipped, almost straight hairs with deep longitudinal grooves in their lower parts whereas, the CS are long, sickleshaped bristles with longitudinal grooves acuminating toward the tip. The BS can be subdivided further into three subtypes which are the large-sized basiconic sensilla ($BS_1$), the small-sized basiconic sensillae ($BS_2$) and the spiniform basiconic sensillae ($BS_3$). The BS between the terminal segment and distal margins of the other segments are clearly discriminated in this species.
