  • In this paper, a new GPS navigation algorithm which considering the SA fade away, is proposed. Ionospheric delay and Tropospheric: delay is modeled and estimated is the proposed method. The experimental results show that precise positioning without DGPS or other sensors can be possible. It will be easily applied to car or marine navigation without changes.

  • As GPS equipments improve, one can acquire GPS data easily in the field. However, to obtain precise and accurate coordinates, post processing is additionally required and the processing needs high degree of skills. Besides, it is very common that we can't operate processing software in the field because required system environment is usually not prepared. The aim of this study is the development of internet-based GPS data processing service. For post processing, we use GIPSY developed by JPL. It has many advantages such as precise point positioning, which enables a rapid determination of receiver positions. The developed service in this study proceeds as following orders by interlocking GIPSY and internet service on a Linux platform: Users upload raw data files on the internet, then GIPSY runs automatically and then the user get the result in the field. We use an Apache Web Server as a hosting program and PHP is used in coding web pages.

  • Using GPS carrier phase whose cycle ambiguities are resolved, it is possible to perform precise survey requiring centimeter-level positioning accuracy. Because of an optical illusion, we cannot recognize the exact slope of Dokaebi Road. In this paper, we performed kinematic survey experiments in order to calculate the exact slope of Dokaebi Road with high positioning accuracy of CDGPS. By post-processing experimental data using CDGPS, it was possible to generate the exact vertical trajectory of Dokaebi Road with centimeter-level accuracy.

  • Satellite laser ranging is a technique for precisely measuring the range between a laser station and a satellite that is equipped with retro-reflectors. SLR technique was first used for Beacon-B satellite in 1964 with the ranging accuracy of meter level. Now the single shot have centimeter level accuracy and the normal point have mm level in ranging. In this study we developed the algorithm for precise orbit determination using SLR data and performed the orbit determination of GPS-36 satellite using the algorithm. RMS of the estimated orbit was 74cm when compared with IGS precise orbit. It is known that RMS of SLR measurement residual is below 55mm. But we were able to achieve 44mm RMS of residual throughout this study.

  • GPS signal delay that caused by dry gases and water vapor in troposphere is a main error source of GPS point positioning and it must be eliminated for precise point positioning. In this paper, we implemented to generate tropospheric delay grid map over the Korean Peninsula based on post-processing method by using the GPS permanent station network in order to determine the availability of tropospheric delay generation algorithm. GIPSY 5.0 was used for GPS data process and nationwide AWS observation network was used to calculate the amount of dry delay and wet delay separately. As the result of grid map's accuracy analysis, the RMSE between grid map data and GPS site data was 0.7mm in ZHD, 7.6mm in ZWD and 8.5mm in ZTD. After grid map accuracy analysis, we applied the calculated tropospheric delay grid map to single frequency relative positioning algorithm and analyzed the positioning accuracy enhancement. As the result, positioning accuracy was improved up to 36% in case of relative positioning of Suwon(SUWN) and Mokpo(MKPO), that the baseline distance is about 297km.

  • The GPS positioning involves not only 'natural' errors associated with the satellites position errors, refraction of EM wave in the ionosphere, etc., but also 'artificial' errors associated with the operation of S/A (Selective Availability). In this paper, we present the principles, accuracies and applicabilities of our personal DGPS method, which employs the position-correction method on the GPS positionings data collected at the reference and the remote sites. The essential requirement of our DGPS method is that two GPS receivers should utilize the identical Navstar satellites at the same time. The positioning error (1 drms) of the stand-alone GPS is of an order of a few tens meters, while that of horizontal position by our DGPS method is about 1m and that of vertical position is about 2m We applied out DGPS technique in positioning moving objects, and obtained satisfactory results in tracking the trajectories of a car on the road and the those of drifters in the sea.

  • The accuracy of user position by GPS is heavily dependent upon the accuracy of satellite position which is usually transmitted to GPS users in radio signals. The real-time satellite position information directly obtained from broadcast ephimerides has the accuracy of 3~10 meters which is very unsatisfactory to measure 100km baseline to the accuracy of less than a few mili-meters. There are globally at present seven orbit analysis centers capable of generating precise GPS ephimerides and their orbit quality is of the order of about 10cm. Therefore, precise orbit model and phase processing technique were reviewed and consequently precise GPS ephimerides were produced after processing the phase observables of 28 global GPS stations for 1 day. Initial 6 orbit parameters and 2 solar radiation coefficients were estimated using batch least square algorithm and the final results were compared with the orbit of IGS, the International GPS Service for Goedynamics.

  • GPS is not able to be used for indoor positioning and currently most of techniques emerging to overcome the limit of GPS utilize private wireless networks. However, these methods require high costs for installation and maintenance, and they are inappropriate to be used in the place where precise positioning is needed as in indoor parking lots. This paper proposes a vehicular indoor positioning method based on QR-code recognition. The method gets an absolute coordinate through QR-code scanning, and obtain the location (an relative coordinate) of a black-box camera using the tilt and roll angle correction through affine transformation, scale transformation, and trigonometric function. Using these information of an absolute coordinate and an relative one, the precise position of a car is estimated. As a result, average error of 13.79cm is achieved and it corresponds to just 27.6% error rate in contrast to 50cm error of the recent technique based on wireless networks.

  • This paper proposes an advanced outdoor localization algorithm of a GPS(global positioning system)-INS(inertial navigation system) integration system. In order to reduce noise from the internal INS sensors, discrete wavelet transform and variable threshold method are utilized. The UPF (unscented particle filter) combines GPS information and INS signals to implement precise outdoor localization algorithm and to reduce noise caused by the acceleration, deceleration, and unexpected slips. The conventional de-noising method is mainly carried out using a low pass filter and a high pass filter which essentially result in signal distortions. This newly proposed system utilizes the vibration information of actuator according to fluctuations of the velocity to minimize signal distortions. The UPF also resolves non-linearities of the actuator and non-normal distributions of noises. Effectiveness of the proposed algorithm has been verified through the real experiments and the results are demonstrated.

  • The aim of this study is to know the GPS absolute positioning accuracy after discontinuing of Selective Availability (SA). The GPS satellite clock errors and the observation station coordinates were calculated using GPS C/A code pseudorange and compared with the JPL precise ephemerides and the previous known coordinates. As the results, the correction or the GPS clock errors in SA-on is about $\pm$40m but in SA-off $\pm$2m. The 95% probable errors for the measurements in SA-on are about $\pm$65m but in SA-off $\pm$10m in X, Y and SA-off $\pm$15m in Z.
