The purpose of this study was to provide a better understanding of prospective teachers' experiences during their toddler educaring practicum and what the meanings of their experiences are. A narrative study on practicum experiences was conducted with four junior students who major in early childhood education in A university in Seoul. The experiences of prospective teachers in daycare centers for toddler were diverse. Such diverse experiences allowed teachers to find the meaning of the relationship between teacher and toddler and to learn what being a teacher was like. And they showed positive changes in their attitude toward practicum and becoming toddler care and education teachers following improved understanding about the lives and development of toddlers and care-giving and teaching skills. The meaning of toddler educaring practicum was explained as building justification for existence and essential identity through continuous self-reflection, and experiencing happiness of caring and teaching toddlers. During the practice, they also learned that teachers in charge of toddlers should understand their lives, provide child friendly and stable environments, and be receptive and sensitively respond to them according to their needs and developmental levels. Student teachers realized that their role was to give loving care and to have sincere concern about the lives of toddlers.
This study aimed to investigate the effect of verbal abuse experience, coping style and resilience on emotional response and practical stress. 261 nursing students participated in this study. Purpose: This study sought to identify the levels of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) knowledge, anxiety, nursing professionalism, and clinical practicum stress, and the factors influencing this stress in nursing students. Methods: A cross-sectional and descriptive study was conducted with the participation of 140 junior and senior nursing students recruited from three nursing colleges in Busan and Gyeongsangnam-do. Data analysis was performed using independent t-tests, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression using the SPSS/WIN 26.0 program. Results: The study arrived at a mean score of 63.18±13.89 for clinical practicum stress, which showed a significant difference based on the perceived health status and reasons for admission to nursing school. Anxiety and professionalism exhibited a noteworthy correlation with clinical practicum stress. The significant predictors of clinical practicum stress among nursing students were perceived health status (β=.39, p<.001), anxiety (β=.25, p=.033), and the reasons for admission to nursing school (β=.17, p=.012). The total explanatory power of these variables was 23.0% (F=6.28, p<.001). Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that it is necessary to provide effective education to promote nursing professionalism during a pandemic. It is also necessary to develop and include various programs in the curriculum that strategically intervene to prevent anxiety in pre-service nurses. This would reduce the stress in the clinical practice of nursing students when faced with new infectious diseases in the future.

This is an exploratory study on the status of the social work field practicum at a cyber university. The purpose is to investigate the current situation and improvement plan of the social work field practicum. A qualitative analysis was conducted with 11 professors who have instructed the social work field practicum at cyber universities. The social work field practicum based on the experiences of the professors is investigated, and this paper analyzes the status according to students, schools, practitioners, and institutions. In order to improve the quality of the social work field practicum, factors for improvement were analyzed through the efforts of students, schools, the Korean social workers' association, institutional improvements, and social welfare instructors. The results of the study are as follows. Students, schools, and training organizations should recognize the importance of the social work field practicum and must strive for systematic and consistent education. It is also important to remember that a social worker is not a professional with simple qualifications, but an expert with a philosophy, values, and ideologies. The direction for improvement in the social work field practicum is as follows. When constructing a social welfare curriculum, the school should have a realistic curriculum and teaching method that can enhance the sense of the field. The student should not be qualified as a social worker only as a vague investment for the future, but should have the professional ability to serve clients as a social worker and to give professional help to clients, considering the best welfare service for human beings. Institutions should provide a place for students to integrate theory and practice in vital social welfare experiences as social workers. The Republic of Korea is now facing an age with one million social workers. In order to open the future of social welfare in Korea, we need united endeavors with government that can develop students as pre-social workers and establish universities, institutions, and their systems for a substantial social work field practicum.
The purpose of this study was to examine what factors affect the construction of preservice white mathematics teachers' racial identities and the relationship between their racial identities and Culturally Relevant Teaching (CRT) practices. We examined five white female preservice teachers who enrolled in an elementary mathematics methods course at a private university in the US. We collected data consisting of lesson plans, semi-structured interviews, and reflection of a taught lesson in the 2018 fall term and examined them using qualitative research methods. We found that preservice teachers' racial identities were affected by their backgrounds, K-12 school experiences, and practicum school environment. We also found a relationship between teachers' sensitivity to racial issues and their endorsement of CRT strategies. The findings also revealed that the relationships were mediated by practicum school contexts. Based on the findings, we provided practical implications for the teacher education programs.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the experience of pre-service mathematics teachers who attended at a university course combined with teaching practicum based on design thinking process to identify the change of their awareness of its activities. For the research, 8 pre-service mathematics teachers participated in a mathematics major course, consisting of 5 phases of design thinking formed by Stanford d.school. In the end of the course, qualitative data were collected through individual and focus group interviews and the course activities. By data analysis, the results of this study were as follows. Firstly, the participants' perspectives of design thinking activities were changed from the difficulty and ambiguity of its activity in the beginning of the process to positiveness with competence of solving authentic problem in terms of teaching practicum over time. Secondly, the participating pre-service teachers emphasized that design thinking activities helped them prepare well teaching practicum and raise understanding of students they met in the school fields. Thirdly, some research participants went through the difficulty in utilizing their products drawn from 4th phase (prototyping) of design thinking process depending on the acceptance of their guidance teachers. Fourthly, the research participants also pointed out that the design thinking was a significant activity in that they learned how to understand and communicate with their students and how to collaborate with team members and it gave an insight about the preparation for a class. Through these results, this study identified the possibility of using the design thinking process for pre-service mathematics teachers' teaching practicum. In addition, the research put forward some implications for better use of design thinking in teacher education.
This study was conducted to examine the experiences of nursing students during a clinical practicum at a university hospital in the Seoul metropolitan area. The purpose of this study is to understand the difference in nursing process competence, critical thinking disposition, and SBAR technique knowledge of nursing students according to practical methods. The subjects of the study were 20 students who participated in clinical practice and 18 students who participated in alternative clinical practicum. The collected data were analyzed by t-test, Mann-Whitney U-test, and Kruskal Wallis test. As a result of the study, there was no significant difference between nursing students' nursing process competence, critical thinking disposition, SBAR utilization ability, and perception of use depending on clinical practice and alternative clinical practicum. In clinical practice, nursing process competence and SBAR technical knowledge were significantly higher when college life satisfaction was high. In in-school practice, which is an alternative clinical practicum, critical thinking disposition and SBAR technical knowledge were high when nursing major satisfaction was high, and critical thinking disposition was high when grade were high. In preparation for future pandemic situations, a systematic clinical alternative practicum education plan should be prepared to improve nursing process competence, critical thinking tendency, and SBAR technique knowledge.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the perception of role transition from a student nurse to a registered nurse among senior year nursing students and to examine factors affecting their role transition. Methods: A descriptive survey with convenience sampling was conducted in four nursing colleges in Seoul, South Korea. Data were collected using a self-administrated questionnaire. Four instruments including role transition, self-esteem, interpersonal relationships and anxiety during clinical practicum were used and the students'demographics were also collected. A multiple logistic regression was used to identify predictors for the role transition. Results: A total of 233 nursing students were surveyed and final analysis was conducted utilizing 226 participants. Mean point of perceived role transition (5 point scale) was $3.34{\pm}0.44$. In a multiple regression model, high self-esteem, good interpersonal relationships, low anxiety during clinical practicum, and high satisfaction in college life were significant predictors of a smooth transition (Adj. $R^2$=.32, F=22.28, p<.001). Conclusion: The findings suggest that role transition from a student nurse to a registered nurse is facilitated through the establishment of programs to improve self-esteem and interpersonal relationships and to reduce anxiety during clinical practicum.
