Varistor Characteristics of $ZnO-Pr_6/O_{11}-CoO-Er_2O_3$-Based Ceramics ($ZnO-Pr_6/O_{11}-CoO-Er_2O_3$계 세라믹스의 바리스터 특성)

  • The varistor characteristics of $ZnO-Pr_6O_11-CoO-Er_2O_3$-based ceramics were investigated. $ZnO-Pr_6O_11-CoO-Er_2O_3$-based ceramics were sintered at $1300^{\circ}C$ and $1350^{\circ}C$in the addition range 0.0~2.0mol% $Er_2O_3$, respectively. $ZnO-Pr_6O_11-CoO-Er_2O_3$-based ceramics, which are added with 0.5mol% $Er_2O_3$ at $1300^{\circ}C$ and l.Omol% $Er_2O_3$ at $1350^{\circ}C$ sintering temperature, exhibited the bestexcellent varistor characteristics, namely, the nonlinear exponent was better 52.78 at $1300^{\circ}C$ thanat 13$1350^{\circ}C$ and the leakage current was better 6.57$\mu\textrm$A at $1350^{\circ}C$ than at $1300^{\circ}C$. Consequently, it is estimated that $ZnO-Pr_6O_11-CoO-Er_2O_3$-based ceramics, which $Er_2O_3$ is added in the range 0.5~l.Omol% will begin to be used as a predominant basic composition of $PR_6O_11$-based ZnO varistors.

  • The electrical properties and stability of Pr$_{6}$/O$_{11}$-based ZnO wvaristors consisting of ZnO-Pr$_{6}$/O$_{11}$-CoO-Dy$_{2}$/O$_{3}$ based ceramics were investigated in the Dy$_{2}$/O$_{3}$ additive content range o 0.0 to 2.0 mol%. The density was nearly constant 5.62 g/cm$^3$corresponding to 97% of theoretical density as Dy$_{2}$/O$_{3}$ additive content increases up to 0.5 mol%. However the density decreased as Dy$_{2}$/O sub 3/ additive content is further additive content. Pr$_{6}$/O$_{11}$-based ZnO varistors doped with 0.5mol% Dy$_{2}$/O$_{3}$ exhibited a good nonlinearity, which is 37.76 in the nonlinear exponent and 5.36 $mutextrm{A}$ in the leakage current. And they exhibited very stress (0.80 V$_{1mA}$/9$0^{\circ}C$/12h)+(0.85 V$_{1mA}$/115$^{\circ}C$/12h)+(0.95 V$_{1mA}$/1$25^{\circ}C$/12h). Consequently it was estimated that ZnO-0.5 mol% Pr$_{6}$/O$_{11}$-1.0 mol% CoO-0.5 mol% Dy$_{2}$/O$_{3}$ based ceramics will be sufficiently used as a basic composition to develop the advanced Pr$_{6}$/O$_{11}$-based ZnO varistors in the future.he future.uture.he future.

  • SrTiO$_3$에 Pr$^{3+}$ 이온, 또는 Pr$^{3+}$ 이온과 Ga$^{3+}$ 이온을 첨가하여 합성한 형광체와 floating zone method로 성장시킨 단결정의 PL 특성을 조사하였다. 분말 형광체와 단결정에서 모두 Ga$^{3+}$ 이온이 함께 첨가되었을 때 적색 발광 세기가 크게 증가하였다. XRF(X-Ray Fluorescence) 측정결과 Ga$^{3+}$ 이온이 함께 첨가되었을 때 SrTiO$_3$결정 격자내의 Pr$^{3+}$ 이온의 농도가 증가하였다. Ga$^{3+}$ 이온이 함께 첨가되었을 때 적색 발광 세기가 증가하는 것은 첨가된 Ga$^{3+}$ 이온이 결정내 발광 center인 Pt$^{3+}$ 이온의 농도가 증가시켰기 때문이며, 또한 Ga$^{3+}$ 이온이 hole trap center로 작용하기 때문인 것으로 생각된다.

  • The ultraviolet-C emitting praseodymium doped yttrium phosphate (YPO4:Pr3+) powder was synthesized by conventional solid-state reaction. The electroluminescence device was fabricated by simple screen-printing method using the synthesized YPO4:Pr3+ powder, especially, polyvinylidene fluoride as an insulating layer was applied on the printed YPO4:Pr3+ powder for stable performance of the electroluminescence. The electroluminescence properties were investigated under alternating current power system of 400 Hz. The device starts to emit at 350 V, which showed the ultraviolet-C emission peaking at the 233, 245, 264, 273 nm attributed to electronic transition of the Pr3+ ions. The electroluminescence intensity was increased as increasing the operating voltage and the device revealed stable performance up to 600 V due to the polyvinylidene fluoride serve as a protective layer.

  • The $SrTiO_3$ with Al, Pr red phosphor for FED was synthesized by Pechini process using metallic nitrates, ethylene glycol and citric acid. The different particle growth tendency of $SrTiO_3$ phosphor powder was observed at above and below $900^{\circ}C$. Also, luminescent properties were observed under 359 nm excitation of Pr ion. The emission band was shown between 575 nm and 650 nm with 617 nm maximum spectra. Therefore, $SrTiO_3$ with Al, Pr phosphor is applicable to red phosphor of FED.

  • After dividing 372 Korean people of 47 different family names into 307 people of 28 indigenous family name groups and 65 people of 19 immigrated family name groups and investigating Pr. Db, Pa gene frequency of each family name groups based on phenotype of parotid saliva character the author have got following conclusions. 1. The gene frequencies of indigenous family name groups were Pr1=0.686, Pr2=0.314, Pr gene frequencies of immigrated family name groups were Pr1=0.7, Pr2=0.3. 2. The gene frequencies of indigenous family name groups were Db==0.021, Db-=0.979, Pr gene frequencies of immigrated family name groups were Db+=0.023, Db-=0.977. 3. The gene frequencies of indigenous family name groups were Pa+=0.248, Pa-=0.752, Pr gene frequencies of immigrated family name groups were Pa+=0.206, Pa-=0.794. 4. The Pr gene frequencies of immigrated family name groups were in the middle of those of Chinese people and indigenous people groups. 5. There was no significant difference of Db gene frequencies between indigenous and immigrated family name groups. 6. Pa gene frequencies of immigrated family name groups were similar to those of Chinese people.

  • Natural convection in a wide-gap horizontal annulus is considered, and the transition of flows and the bifurcation phenomenon are investigated for the fluids with Pr=0.2 and 0.3. At Pr=0.2, a bicellular flow pattern is observed at high Rayleigh number, and the solution is unique. At Pr=0.3, both the steady unicellular and bicellular flows exist above a certain critical Rayleigh number. For the fluids of Pr=0.2, the bicellular flow can be obtained by the impulsive heating of the inner cylinder, but it is not obtained from the zero initial condition for Pr=0.3. Hysteresis phenomena have not been observed. A transition from a bicellular flow to a unicellular flow occurs for Pr=0.3.

  • A study is presented showing the effect of carrier phase error on the error-rate of a (Class I, II, IV)PR shaped SQAM digital communication system. A simple upper bound on the probabilty of error as a function of phase error is derived and compared to one another. The results show that the three system can be used appropriately if carrier phase error is less than 3$^{\circ}$. However, if phase error is larger than 3, the PR class I is the best choice.

  • Photoluminescenc (PL) and low-voltage cathodoluminescence (CL) characteristics of $[xSrTiO_3+(1-x)Li_2TiO_3]:Pr^{3+}$ and $[xSrTiO_3+(1-x)Na_2TiO_3]:Pr^{3+}$ systems were investigated. The red luminescence intensities of these compounds are enhanced remarkably by the incorporation of $Li^+$ or $Na^+$ ion as compared to that of $SrTiO_3:Pr^{3+}$. The enhanced luminescence is speculated to result from both the charge compensation of $Pr^{3+}$ site and oxygen vacancies generated in the lattices by $Li^+$ or $Na^+$ ion.

Infrared-to-Visible Up-conversion in Er-Pr-Yb Triply Doped Oxyfluoride Glass Ceramics

  • We synthesized $Er^{3+}-Yb^{3+}$, $Pr^{3+}-Yb^{3+}$, and $Er^{3+}-Pr^{3+}-Yb^{3+}$ -doped oxyfluoride glass ceramics containing $CaF_2$ nanocrystals by proper thermal treatments. Spectral characteristics of down- and up-converted emissions in three kinds of glass ceramics under 365-nm and 980-nm excitations were compared and explained by cross relaxations, excited-state absorptions, and energy-transfer processes between different ions. The huge reduction of up-conversion emission in the triply doped glass ceramics under 980-nm excitation compared to the $Er^{3+}-Yb^{3+}$ codoped one was explained by the split pump power and the direct energy transfer from $Er^{3+}$ to $Pr^{3+}$ ions. Increasing $Yb^{3+}$ concentration from 2% to 10% in the triply doped glass ceramics showed more than quadratic enhancement of the absorbed power, and we explained it by the enhanced energy-transfer efficiency from $Yb^{3+}$ to $Er^{3+}$ ions. We also observed enhanced up-converted emissions of $Er^{3+}$ and $Pr^{3+}$ ions in three kinds of glass ceramics under simultaneous excitation at 980 nm and 1550 nm, and suggested detailed up-conversion mechanisms.
