Implementation of a dynamic high-performance Notch Filter for Power-Line Communications (전력선통신을 위한 동적 고성능 Notch Filter 구현)

  • Recent studies have been conducted on powerline communications as a viable alternative to the spread of the spread of the Internet and the Internet as the chief source of information act in the information age, the internet does not reach local Last Mile Solution. Powerline communication, but because it has been designed to transfer power to the high frequency signal to be sent when the close of wireless communications services impacted. The notch filters of a common way to eliminate the interference are used. In this paper, a dynamic high-performance notch filter applying WDF performance was verified through MATLAB and was implemented using a TI's TMS320C6416T DSP board.

  • In this paper, we present the design of a system on a chip(SoC) based on Powerline Communication for Power-IT. The SoC deals with power information obtained from analog to digital converter and transmits this data via powerline. We integrate main processor, ADC and PLC function into a chip. Also a FPGA-based emulation system is introduced to evaluate a proposed SoC architecture.

  • As most of the powerline modems use spread spectrum modulation method which has strong immunity against the narrowband fading, or psk modulation method, the amplitude of the signal contains no useful informations. In this paper, we used class D amplifier to implement the drive circuit of the analog front end, and showed that it has great superiority over other existing drive circuits in rapidly impedance changing powerline channel.

  • In this paper, we propose a method to implement an IoT-based sensor network for each workplace of a shipyard. Here, at the most common welding workplace in shipyards, the shipbuilding blocks are used as a communication medium to transmit information such as the worker's location, welding progress, and working hour to a server using LoRa and powerline communication. To achieve the data communication, inductive couplers and hybrid modems have been manufactured and installed on wire feeders and pin jigs to establish a sensor network. As a result of field test, the proposed system shows a success rate of data transmission and a rate of successful recognition of worker's location of about 98% or more. In addition, the process management system platform can record and display the work process data generated at the field in real time. The proposed system can be a starting point for enhancing the competitiveness of Korean shipbuilding industry through the establishment of a smart shipyard.

  • In this paper, a multi-modem for process automation of non-destructive inspection (NDI) which possibly generates various kinds of data is implemented and verified. Here, a variety of data such as control signals, text data, image data generated by inspection devices, sensors, computers are transmitted to the multi-modem via serial, Ethernet, and coaxial cable. We exploit a communication network in which powerlines are used as backbone transmission media. Thus, the implemented multi-modem has various ports and corresponding interfaces for data transmission. As a result of practical experiments, the multi-modem maintains almost constant data rate with little waveform distortion. In addition, the experiments confirm that the modem operates normally under extreme variation of temperature. It is, therefore, considered that the multi-modem can contribute significantly to implement powerline communication (PLC)-based process automation for NDI in which various kinds of data are practically generated.

A Study on Broadband Inductive Coupler using Impregnated Nanocrystalline Ribbon (함침된 나노결정립 리본을 이용한 광대역 유도형 결합기 연구)

  • Ferrite cores are used as a soft magnetic material in the fabrication of couplers for inductive powerline communication (PLC). However, it is difficult to adjust the size freely according to the power-line and power-grid environment. In this paper, we report that a nano-crystalline alloy with higher permeability than ferrite can be used as an inductive coupler for non-contact PLC. Since nano-crystalline are produced in the form of a thin ribbon, the size of the coupler can be freely controlled by the number of ribbons wound on the toroidal core. It was fabricated with induction type coupler and showed to be suitable for non-contact power line communication. Experimental results show that the communication bandwidth is 45 Mbps for 100 m and 8 Mbps for 200 m under the current fluctuation of less than 100 A, and the reception ratio is 100%.

  • PLC_Zigbee system, implemented in a previous study, uses ZigBee Node based on PLC (Power Line Communication). The weak point of the system is that the long distance powerline communication and PLC is impossible to use in the areas where the powerline is not installed. In this paper, we added CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) module using a data transfer method of SMS (Short Message Service) and XBee of WSN (Wireless Sensor Network) module to the previous system, and got around the restriction of place and environment of PLC system through the interfacing of each communication media. We, thus, implemented a wide range of real monitoring system.

  • 전력선 통신기술은 추가 배선이 필요 없는 유용성에도 불구하고 전력선 채널에 대한 정확한 채널 모델링과 전력선 모뎀의 전송 신뢰성에 대하여 많은 문제점을 나타내고 있다. 본 논문에서는 전송선로의 주파수에 대한 잡음과 임피던스 특성을 분석하고, 이의 해결을 위하여 전력선 채널에 Spread Spectrum 기법을 적용한 신호를 전송하였을 때의 시뮬레이션 결과와 구현된 FPGA 보드를 비교분석 하였다. 채널 모델링은 잡음과 감쇄 특성을 고려하였으며, Spread Spectrum 변조 방식을 적용한 전력선 모뎀의 FPGA를 구현하여 성능을 분석하였다.
