  • A stabilizer link connects the stabilizer bar to the lower arm of the suspension. When a vehicle is turning, lateral forces from the tire are transmitted through the stabilizer link into the stabilizer bar. The stabilizer bar will twist, thus adding rigidity to the vehicle body. In this study, the stabilizer link body was manufactured by using composite material with POM-GF25%. Therefore, the strength evaluation of stability link body with composite material carried out from tensile, wear and fatigue test. The tensile strength between the stability link body with composite material and the rod with knurling was the largest of four types of rod. In Analyzing materials property using optical sensing technique of stabilizer link for automobile parts, its has been identified the safety.

  • Stabilizer fins are installed on each side of a ship to control its roll motion. The most common stabilizer fin is a rolling control system that uses the lift force on the fin surface. If the angle of attack of a stabilizer fin is zero or the speed is zero, it cannot control the roll motion. The Coanda effect is well known to generate lift force in marine field. The performance of stabilizer fin that applies the Coanda effect has been verified by model tests and numerical simulations. It was found that a stabilizer fin that applied the Coanda effect at Cj = 0.085 and a zero angle of attack exactly coincided with that of the original fin at α = 26°. In addition, the power needed to generate the Coanda effect was not high compared to the motor power of the original stabilizer fin.

  • The paper describes the parameter tuning of power system stabilizer (PSS) for a power plant based on hybrid system modeling. The existing tuning method based on bode plot and root locus is well applied to keep power system stable. However, due to linearization of power system and an assumption that the parameter ratio of the lead-lag compensator in PSS is fixed, the results cannot guarantee the optimal performances to damp out low-frequency oscillation. Therefore, in this paper, hybrid system modeling, which has a DAIS (differential-algebraic-impusive-switched) structure, is applied to conduct nonlinear modeling for power system and find optimal parameter set of the PSS. The performances of the proposed method are carried out by time domain simulation with a single machine connected to infinite bus (SMIB) system.

  • This paper presents an optimal fuzzy power system stabilizer to damp out low frequency oscillation. So far fuzzy controllers have been applied to power system stabilizing controllers due to its excellent properties on the nonlinear systems. But the design process of fuzzy logic power system stabilizer requires empirical and heuristic knowledge of human experts as well as many trial-and-errors in general. This paper presents and optimal design method of the fuzzy logic stabilizer using the genetic algorithm. Non-symmetric membership functions are optimally tuned over an evaluation function. The present inputs of fuzzy stabilizer are torque angle error and the change of torque angle error without loss of generality. The coding method used in this paper is concatenated binary mapping. Each linguistic fuzzy variable, defined as the peak of a membership function, is assigned by the mapping from a minimum value to a maximum value using eight bits. The tournament selection and the elitism are used to keep the worthy individuals in the next generation. The proposed system is applied to the one-machine infinite-bus model of a power system, and the results showed a promising possibility.

But the design of a fuzzy logic power system stabilizer relies on empirical and heuristic knowledge of human experts as well as many trial-and-errors in general. This paper presents the optimal design method of the fuzzy logic stabilizer using the genetic algorithm, which is the optimization method based on the mechanics of natural selection and natural genetics. The proposed method tunes the parameters of the fuzzy logic stabilizer in order to minimize the consuming time during the design process. In this paper, the proposed method tunes the shape of membership function of the fuzzy variables. The proposed system is applied to the one-machine infinite-bus model of a power system. Through the case study, the efficiency of the fuzzy stabilizing controller tuned by genetic algorithm is verified.

  • This paper provides an analysis of the effect of input signals, such as acceleration power and generator shaft speed for improving Power System Stabilizer(PSS) efficiency. We consider a single machine and infinite bus system which is modeled by PSCAD/EMTDC. We choose an optimum stabilizer gain with respect to eigenvalue analysis and transient stability analysis to each input signal.

  • This paper presents the proposed full-order observer-based sliding mode power system stabilizer(FOOSMPSS) for finding unmeasurable state variables(torque angle, quadratic-axis transient voltage, exciter output voltage, voltage regulator output voltage and output voltage) by measuring angular velocity. The simulation results is shown by the comparison of the FOOPSS with the proposed FOOSMPSS.

  • This paper deals with parameter tuning of the Power System Stabilizer (PSS) for 612 MVA thermal power plants in the KEPCO system and its validation in a field test. In this paper, the selection of parameters, such as lead-lag time constants for phase compensation and system gain, is optimized using linear and eigenvalue analyses. This is then verified through the time-domain transient stability analysis. In the next step, the performance of PSS is finally verified by the generator's on-line field test. After the field test, measured and simulated data are also compared to prove the effectiveness of the models used in the simulations.
