The cooling technology of power conversion semiconductors in the propulsion system for the HEMU(High Electrical Multi Unit) are applied in water cooling method and phase change method such as the immersed type and the heat pipe type. Both of cooling systems need a condenser and a fan through forced wind to emit that is radiated heat from electric power conversion semiconductor(IGBT) stack effectively, now in the case of Japanese Fastec 360S, is using ram-air that is flowed in establishing cooling passage to propulsion system for cooling of condenser. In this research, it is that achieved the computing numerical analysis using ADINA of commertial program to examine flow characteristics and pressure distribution of ram-air for a condenser in cooling passage.

Propulsion subsystem transfers KOMPSAT into mission orbit and controls its attitude. Design factor consists of structure safety, electrical circuit design, consumable power estimation of thermal hardwares, damping device design of fuel transient pressure, and system configuration design by considering plume effect from thruster firing. System level analysis should be performed for verification of system design under launch vehicle and orbital environment. Electrical functional test of thermal control hardware, proof pressure test, cleanliness verification test, and internal/external leakage test of fuel feeding system should be carried out for performance estimation of propulsion system. Design and assembly process of propulsion subsystem was depicted and reliability of system was verified by test analysis in this paper.

This paper describes the field test results of IGBT VVVF inverter for the railway propulsion system. The 1,650kVA IGBT VVVF inverter has been developed. Therefore, the field test is performed in SMG 6 Line to confirm its the reliability and performance. The train consists of 4M4T and the electrical equipment for field test are as follows : VVVF inverter 4 sets, 16 traction motors and 2 SIVs. The propulsion system is composed with 1C4M(1-Controller 4-Motors). The results of propulsion system which have the excellent acceleration/deceleration and the jerk characteristics as well as starting ability on slope are taken through the field test.

In this study, a motion control problem for the vessels towed by tugboats or towing ships on the sea is considered. The towed vessel looks like the barge ship, which is used for many purposes. In these vessels, basically, the power propulsion system is not installed but just towed by a towing vessel such as tugboats with ropes and wires. It means that the motions of towed vessel are basically dependent on the tracking route of towing boat. Therefore, in some cases, undesirable and unpredictable motions may be made by environmental factors such as wave, wind attack and so on. As a result, a collision accident with others may occur during maneuvering situation. Based on these facts, the authors try to encourage the steering performance of the towed vessel by using controllable rudders without any propulsion system. In this study, especially, a controllable vessel with three rudders is considered, and a mathematical model is induced for the future study. The model is described as surge, sway motion and inertia moment by following the general representation method for the surface ship.

The International Maritime Organization has steadily strengthened environmental regulations on nitrogen oxides and carbon dioxide emitted from marine vessels. Consequently, the demand for electric propulsion vessels based on eco-friendly elements has increased. To this end, research and development has been steadily conducted for various vessels. In electric propulsion systems, a redundancy configuration is typically adopted to increase reliability and facilitate the onboard arrangement. Furthermore, studies have been actively conducted to ensure the safety of electric propulsion systems through the combination with digital twin technology. A digital twin can be used to predict outcomes in advance by implementing real-world equipment or space in a virtual world like twins, integrating real-world information and data with the virtual world, and performing computer simulations of situations that can occur in a real environment. In this study, we perform failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) to validate the electric power management system (PMS) redundancy scheme for the digital twin technology development of electric propulsion vessels. Then, we propose the role and algorithm of PMS as a compensation function for preventing primary and secondary damages caused by a single equipment failure of the PMS and preventing additional damages by analyzing the impact on the entire system under real vessel operating conditions based on the redundancy FMEA suggested for the ship classification and certification. We verified the improvement in propulsion conservation through tests.

As a cryogen, LOx is a light blue, odorless, transparent liquid. Also it is not shock sensitive and does not decompose. However, it is a strong oxidizer and will vigorously support combustion. Therefore all harmful contaminants (such as grease, oil, fingerprint and organic materials) that could cause malfunctions, fires, or explosions in a oxygen environments must be completely removed prior to the introduction of oxygen. Especially, grease ingredient located inside of the LOx supply line, pipe and PHS (Pneumo-Hydraulic System) part can make drastic chemical reaction with oxygen. Therefore, to protect rapid reaction such as explosion, grease ingredient must be surely eliminated by a regular and irregular degreasing. Study on the availability, effectiveness and selection of degreasing detergents and method is described in this paper, and it will be useful for the construction and management of IPP test facility.
This work provides the biomechanical evaluations of a manual wheelchair with a bi-directional driving system. The new propulsion strategy can be accomplished by employing a special gear system that converts the oscillatory motion of a handrim into the unidirectional output motion of a wheel. A main feature of the forward. backward propulsion is to supply continuous driving torque without break. Motion. analysis has been performed through 2-dimensional image processing for measuring the kinematic properties of the upper arm and fore arm. Then, the inverse dynamics analysis has been done for obtaining the joint torques, the handrim forces and input/output powers. Results show that the output power by the forward. reverse propulsion is almost twice as much as that by conventional propulsion. Also, the new propulsion is expected to reduce the fatigues and injuries at arm joints by employing more muscle groups for movement. In conclusion, the forward. reverse propulsion can greatly improve the performances of manual wheelchairs by providing better mobility as well as by guaranteeing several advantages from a biomechanical viewpoint. Future development of a manual wheelchair optimized for the bi-directional propulsion will further improve the propulsion performances.
This paper presents a high performance low switching PWM technique for the propulsion system of railway such as subway and high speed train. In order to achieve the continuous voltage control to six-step and a low harmonics with low switching frequency under 500Hz, the synchronous PWM technique is combined with a space vector overmodulation and implemented by using DSP. Improved performance and a validation of proposed method are showed by the digital simulation and the experimental results using a 1.65MVA IGBT VVVF inverter and inertia load equivalent to 160 tons railway vehicles.

Environmental regulations are becoming more stringent in response to climate change, especially concerning marine pollution caused by ship emissions. Large ships are adjusting by integrating technologies to reduce pollutant emissions and transitioning to eco-friendly fuels such as low-sulfur oil and LNG. However, small ships face space constraints for installing LNG propulsion systems and the risk of power depletion with pure electric propulsion. Consequently, there's growing interest in researching hybrid propulsion methods that combine electricity and diesel for smaller vessels. Hybrid propulsion systems utilize diverse energy sources, requiring an effective method for evaluating their efficiency. This study proposes employing Bond graph modeling to comprehensively analyze energy dynamics within hybrid propulsion systems, facilitating better understanding and optimization of their efficiency. Modeling of the ship's energy system using Bond graphs will be able to provide a framework for integrating various energy sources and evaluating their effects.
The propulsion technology used in unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs)—which represent one of the most important development directions in aviation—is significantly related to their flight performance. This review paper discusses the different types of propulsion technologies used in unmanned aerial vehicles, namely the internal combustion engine (reciprocating, rotary, and gas turbine engines), the hybrid system, and the pure electric system. In particular, this paper presents and discusses the classification, working principles, characteristics, and critical technologies of these types of propulsion systems. These findings are expected to be helpful in establishing a development framework, comprehensive views, and multiple comparisons of future UAV propulsion systems.
