Capacitor-run single-phase induction motor is cheaper than motors that use permanent magnets and is widely used in home appliances and industries based on relatively high durability and productivity. It can also be operated by line. However speed cannot be controlled because the line frequency is free. In this paper we dealt pole change method one of the method controlling speed of capacitor-run single-phase induction motor. The conventional pole change method is difficult to improve the power and efficiency of the motor because the composition of the pole change device is complex and do not have enough area of the windings because of windings not used according to the driving conditions. In this paper, we proposed the pole change method that is used main windings and auxiliary windings at 4 poles operation and used auxiliary windings as compensation windings at 2 poles operation. The proposed method was verified through finite element analysis.
This paper presents the analysis of the speed-power performance in the real sea using a large container vessel data provided as a test bed from a shipping company. To perform a speed trial of the vessel during a commercial voyage, the on-board measuring device and various operation data acquisition systems were mounted on the vessel for long-term performance monitoring and the voyage operated under the container loading condition close to the design draft was adopted. The content of this paper consists of Part I and Part II. Part I, such as this paper, contains the speed trial method and analysis results of the operating vessel. Part II contains the analysis of the speed-power characteristics change over time and before and after hull cleaning using operation data measured from the voyage operated under a condition similar to the speed trial.
Motivated by a recent work, a fuzzy-power-controller(FPC) is designed for the relieving-horsepower control of output variable pump with electrical proportional valve and actually implemented on the industrial excavator. In order to calculate the output power of pump with input of FPC, a linear discrete time model of load system to pump is obtained and the result is applied to control the engine-pump coupled system by software without pressure and flow sensor. The FPC controls the engine and pump coupled system by relieving horsepower control according to the change of load and the running conditions in relieving horsepower control are selected by fuzzy inference engine. A case study is peformed through the construction of the control device and installation on the excavator. It shows that the relieving-horsepower control system with the FPC, as suggested in this paper, is superior to the conventional PID controllers. And also, the excavator, with the FPC, shows that the power-loss of the coupled system is reduced and the running speed of the hydraulic actuator is enhanced.
As the global warming threats to humanity, renewable energy is considered the key solution to overcome the climate change. In this circumstance, distributed PV systems are being expanded significantly its market share in the renewable energy industry. The performance of inverter is the most important component at PV system and numerous researches are focusing on it. In order to improve the inverter, PV simulator is an essential device to experiment under various load and conditions. This paper proposes the PV Power-Hardware-In-Loop simulator (PHILS) with real-time processing converted electrical and mathematical models to improve computation speed. Single-diode PV model is used in MATLAB/SIMULINK for the PV PHILS to boosting computation speed and dynamic model accuracy. In addition, control algorithms for sub-components such as DC amplifier, measurement device and several interface functions are implemented in the model. The proposed PV PHILS is validated by means of experiments with commercial PV module parameters.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the body temperature peripheral circulation with vibration shoes in healthy 10 adults. The magnetic vibration device with non-electric power was mounted in the midsole of the vibration shoes. The experiment was divided into two groups: vibration shoes and no vibration shoes. Subjects were randomly selected and measured body surface temperature by digital infrared thermal imaging (DITI) and non-invasive capillaries change by nailfold microscope (NFM). After walking in a treadmill for 15 minutes at 4.0 km/h speed wearing normal shoes or vibration shoes, DITI and NFM were measured. The walking with vibration shoes showed the body surface temperature shift from the proximal to the distal. In addition, the diameter of the nailfold capillary in the vibration shoes group was thicker and clearer due to the increased blood flow than that of the no vibration shoes group. The vibration shoes are easy to apply to anyone who can walk because it can give vibration stimulation by walking without additional time, cost, and effort in daily life. Further studies are needed to explain the physiological effects of vibration frequency and intensity on the long-term perspective of target subjects resulting from vascular dysfunction.
The purposes of this study were to find correlations among Fugl-Meyer Assessment scale, gait speed, and Timed Up & Go test (TUG) and to predict gait ability from subscales of Fugl-Meyer Assessment scale. The study population consisted of 30 stroke patients referred to the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine in the Bundang Jaesang General Hospital. All subjects were ambulatory with or without an assistive device. All participants were assessed on Fugl-Meyer Assessment scale and gait speed (m/s), TUG (s). The data were analyzed using independent t-test, Pearson product moment correlation analysis and stepwise multiple regression. The results revealed that all items of Fugl-Meyer Assessment scale, except passive joint range of motion were significantly correlated with gait speed and TUG. In particular, sensation score, lower extremity motor and coordination score have a significant correlation with gait speed and TUG (p<.05). The sensation score and lower extremity motor score were important factors in comfortable gait and maximal gait speed. Their power of explanation regarding comfortable gait and maximal gait speed were 63.0% and 65.0%, respectively. The sensation score and lower extremity coordination score were important factors in TUG. Their power of explanation regarding TUG was 55.0%. These results showed that Fugl-Meyer Assessment scale is significantly correlated with gait speed and TUG. Therefore Fugl-Meyer Assessment scale is an appropriate assessment tool to predict gait ability of patients with stroke. Further study about gait speed and TUG by change of Fugl-Meyer Assessment score is needed using a longitudinal study design.
Objective: This study aimed to compare differences in biomechanical factors according to distance changes in relation to approaches during a round of golf to obtain basic data on golf swings. Methods: The research subjects were 8 KPGA-affiliated professional golfers who performed approach shots that put a ball into a circle of 8 feet in diameter from distances of 30, 50, and 70 m. Data were collected by using six infrared cameras and a ground reaction force device, which were applied to calculate biomechanical factors by using Kwon3D XP. The calculated data were subjected to one-way ANOVA by using SPSS 20.0, with the significance level set at p value of 0.05. Results: Elapsed time, stance width, clubhead position variation, clubhead synthesis speed, and cocking angle significantly differed according to distance change during the approach swing. Clubhead speed was positively related with stance width and clubhead displacement. Ground reaction force significantly differed according to distance change during the approach swing. Factors before and after showed differences in other states, except in the impact state. Conclusion: In the present study, we drew several conclusions regarding biomechanical factors and ground reaction forces according to distance change in the approach swing of professional golfers. According to these conclusions, we suggest that distance control with swing range is more important than power control in maintaining the accuracy and consistency of golf swing and is the most important mechanism of golf swing.
A portable terminal assistant market grows rapidly every year and it requires many change in research on display devices. Among many newly developing methods, OLED(Organic Light Emitting Diode) is considered an advanced flat display device because its excellent characteristics, including high speed response, full color performance, low power consumption and flux of panel. However changes in the market of display shows that the market will require 3-dimensional images, but it is hard for existing 2-dimensional displays to make 3-dimensional images. Therefore we will try to find various methods such as holograms. In this paper, we will show existing flat displays can make 3-dimensional images by applying Lenticular Screen printing techniques on the organic semiconductor display device.
