  • This paper presents a modeling and simulation of a fuzzy controller for maximum power extraction of a grid-connected wind energy conversion system with a link of a rectifier and an inverter. It discusses the maximum power control algorithm for a wind turbine and proposes, in a graphical form, the relationships of wind turbine output, rotor speed, power coefficient, tip-speed ratio with wind speed when the wind turbine is operated under the maximum power control. The control objective is to always extract maximum power from wind and transfer the power to the utility by controlling both the pitch angle of the wind turbine blades and the inverter firing angle. Pitch control method is mechanically complicated, but the control performance is better than that of the stall regulation method. The simulation results performed on MATLAB will show the variation of generator's rotor angle and rotor speed, pitch angle, and generator output.

  • The hydraulic power-take-off mechanism (HPTO) is one of the most popular methods in wave energy converters (WECs). However, the conventional HPTO with only one direction motion has a number of drawbacks that limit its power capture capability. This paper proposes an adjustable moving angle wave energy converter (AMAWEC) and investigates the effect of the moving angle on the performance of the wave energy converter to find the optimal moving angle in order to increase the power capture capability as well as energy efficiency. A mathematical model of components from a floating buoy to a hydraulic motor was modeled. A small scale WEC test rig was fabricated to verify the power capture capability and efficiency of the proposed system through experiments.

  • The pyramidal reaction wheel arrangement is one of the configurations that can be used in attitude control simulators for evaluation of attitude control performance in satellites. In this arrangement, the wheels are oriented in a pyramidal configuration with a tilt angle. In this paper, a study of pyramidal reaction wheel arrangement is carried out in order to find the optimum tilt angle that minimizes total power consumption of the system. The attitude control system is analyzed and the pyramidal configuration is implemented in numerical simulation. Optimization is carried out by using an iterative process and the optimum tilt angle that provides minimum system power consumption is obtained. Simulation results show that the system requires the least power by using optimum tilt angle in reaction wheels arrangement.

  • Three-phase controlled converters have many applications in the utility interfacing of renewable energy sources and adjustable speed drives as a rectifier or inverter. The utility line currents of these converters have a high harmonic distortion, which is more than the harmonic standards. This paper introduces a new technique for circulating the third harmonic currents from the dc-link to the line currents to reduce their harmonic contents. The proposed system uses a single-phase PWM converter to control the angle and amplitude of the injection current for each of the firing angle of a three-phase converter. A detailed analysis is introduced to achieve a relationship between the firing angle of the three-phase controlled converter and the power angle of the PWM converter. In addition, a detailed design for the other injection path components is introduced. A simulation and experimental work is introduced to prove the mathematical derivations. Analysis, simulation and experimental results prove the superiority of the proposed technique.

  • This paper presents a new approach to the automatic control of the turn-off angle used to excite the Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) employed in electric vehicles (EV). The controller selects the turn-off angle that supports and improves the performance of the motor drive system. This control scheme consisting of classical current control and speed control depends on a lookup table to take the best result of the motor. The turn-on angle of the main switches of the inverter is fixed at $0^{\circ}C$ and the turn-off angle is variable depending on the reference speed. The motor, inverter and control system are modeled in Simulink to demonstrate the operation of the system.

  • This paper showed the difference in the optimum conditions by using the ANSYS CFX simulation program with the changes of the main-blade angle and sub-blade angle. Main-blade Shape 4,which had angle $45^{\circ}$ while other Shapes with angle $0^{\circ}$, was increased to 157.2[%] to 263.2[%] in the power and was increased to 110[%] to 250[%] in the power coefficient. Moreover, when the Shape 5 Fin length of main-blade doubled, the power was 70.8[%] when compared with Shape 1 and 27.5[%] with shape 4.If the main-blade geometry equals shape 1 in the case structure, The power of Case1 was increased to 13.3[%] when compared with Case2. Also, the power coefficient was increased to 15.4[%]. When sub-blade angle was $45^{\circ}$, main-blade was better than the Fin type than the Bended type. The power of Case4 was increased to 47[%] when compared with Csae1 and increased to 13.6[%] with Case 3. Also, the power coefficient was 46.7[%] when compared with Case 1 and 15.8[%] with Case 3.

  • Super junction trench gate power MOSFETs have been receiving attention in terms of the trade-off between breakdown voltage and on-resistance. The vertical structure of super junction trench gate power MOSFETs allows the on-resistance to be reduced compared with conventional Trench Gate Power MOSFETs. The heat release of devices is also decreased with the reduction of on-resistance. In this paper, Lattice Temperature of two devices, Trench Gate Power MOSFET and Super junction trench gate power MOSFET, are compared in several temperature circumstance with the same Breakdown Voltage and Cell-pitch. The devices were designed by 100V Breakdown voltage and measured from 250K Lattice Temperature. We have tried to investigate how much temperature rise in the same condition. According as temperature gap between top of devices and bottom of devices, Super junction trench gate power MOSFET has a tendency to generate lower heat release than Trench Gate Power MOSFET. This means that Super junction trench gate power MOSFET is superior for wide-temperature range operation. When trench etching process is applied for making P-pillar region, trench angle factor is also important component. Depending on trench angle, characteristics of Super junction device are changed. In this paper, we focus temperature characteristic as changing trench angle factor. Consequently, Trench angle factor don't have a great effect on temperature change.

  • This paper presents a two Hall sensor method for rotor angle detection in permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM). To minimize the implementation complexity, the system is designed to measure the edge field of permanent magnet pieces. However, there are nonlinearities in the measured values of the edge field. In this work, an angle correction algorithm is proposed, and the improvements in accuracy are verified through experiments. Finally, a field orientation controller is constructed with the proposed angle detection algorithm.

  • This paper designed the main blade in V-shape and tried to identify the best design conditions by changing the main blade angle and wind speed. When the main blade open angle was maintained at $120^{\circ}$ and the sample2 with an angle changed by $30^{\circ}$ was compared with the sample3 changed by $60^{\circ}$, the power output of sample2 was 3.8[kW], the power coefficient was 0.12, and the power output of sample3 was 6.0[kW], the power coefficient was measured as 0.18. So the power output of sample 3 was 58% higher than that of sample2, and the power coefficient was increased by 50%. The power coefficient was 0.18 and the wind speed was changed to 10[m/s] at 6.0[kW] at wind speed of 7[m/s] by fixing main blade open angle of $120^{\circ}$ and angle of $60^{\circ}$. The output was measured at 7.7[kW] and the power coefficient at 0.23. When the wind speed was high, the power output increased by 28% and the power coefficient increased by 83%. Also, sample4 was 103% higher in output and 92% more in efficiency than sample2.
