The power performance monitoring system for a small class of wind turbine is established. The wind turbine power performance characteristics are determined by measured power curve and the estimated annual energy production (AEP). The measured power curve is determined by collecting simultaneous measurements of wind speed and power output at the test site under varying wind conditions. In order to determine the power performance characteristics of the wind turbine accurately, the data are of sufficient quantity and quality shall be corrected according to defined criteria. In this study, the 6kW wind turbine made by Germany Inventus GmbH is examined.
A wind turbine is one of the most popular energy conversion systems to generate electricity from the natural renewable energy source and an axial-flow type wind turbine is the most popular system for the electricity generation in the wind farm nowadays. In this study, a cross-flow type turbine has been studied for the application of wind turbine for electricity generation. The target capacity of electric power generation of the model wind turbine developing on the project is 12 volts, 130A/H (about 1.56kW). The important design parameters of the model turbine impeller are the inlet and exit angle of the turbine blade, number of blade, hub/tip ratio and the exit flow angle of the casing. In this study, the radial equilibrium theorem was used to decide the inlet and exit angle of the impller blade and CFD technique was used to have the performance analysis of the designed model power turbine to find out the optimum geometry of the CPT impeller and casing. The designed CPT with 24 impeller blades at ${\alpha}=82^{\circ}$, ${\beta}=40^{\circ}$ of turbine blade angle was estimated to generate 284.6 N.m of indicated torque and 2.14kW of indicated power.

The effects of varying the inlet flow angle on the output power of a Francis hydraulic turbine were studied numerically and the result was compared to the experimental results conducted at Korea Institute of Energy Research to determine the brake power of the turbine for each set of operating conditions. The loss of mechanical power of the model turbine was determined by comparing the numerical and experimental results, and thus the turbine efficiency or energy conversion efficiency of the model turbine could be estimated. From the result, it was found that the maximum brake efficiency of the turbine is approximately 46% at an induced angle of 35 degrees. The maximum indicated mechanical efficiency of the turbine is approximately 93% at an induced angle of 25~30 degrees.
In this paper, The case of power performance test for 3MW wind-turbine system is introduced. For the verification of power curve and the certification of wind-turbine, power performance test is very important. This paper described the power testing results of a 3MW wind turbine and analysed an uncertainty about the testing. The measured power curves are very closely coincide with the calculated. Total uncertainty of measured data for Power Curve is 120~200kW in the rated power.

The turbine is one of the most important components in the tidal current power device which can convert current flow to rotational energy. Generally, a tidal turbine has two or three blades that are subjected to hydrodynamic loads. The blades are continuously deformed by various incoming flow velocities. Depending on the velocities, blade size, and material, the deformation rates would be different that could affect the power production rate as well as turbine performance. Surely deformed blades would decrease the performance of the turbine. However, most studies of turbine performance have been carried out without considerations on the blade deformation. The power estimation and analysis should consider the deformed blade shape for accurate output power. This paper describes a fluid-structure interaction (FSI) analysis conducted using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and the finite element method (FEM) to estimate practical turbine performance. The loss of turbine efficiency was calculated for a deformed blade that decreased by 2.2% with maximum deformation of 216mm at the blade tip. As a result of the study, principal causes of power loss induced by blade deformation were analysed and summarised in this paper.
Power generation of wind turbine which is installed in wind farm should be measured to predict economic feasibility of wind farm. Also electric power company want to verify wind turbine performance which is stated by manufacturer. The International Electrotechnical Commission(IEC) published 61400-12-1 "Power performance measurements of electricity producing wind turbines" for test of wind turbine power performance. In this paper, measurable sector of wind speed is analysed based on IEC 61400-12-1 to verify power curve of wind turbine with various wind turbine in wind farm.

There are several advantages to make use of a bridge pier for the tidal power generation. Current velocity increases near the pier, therefore the tidal power generation becomes more efficient because the power is proportional to the cubic of the current velocity. The pier is convenient for access and maintenance of the hydraulic turbine and the power unit. The project is now underway at the Ikitsuki Bridge in Tatsuno-Seto Strait of Nasasaki Prefecture, where the tidal current was measured by the bottom mount ADCP for almost one year. Model experiments for a Darrieus water turbine with two and three straight blades were carried out in the circulating water channel, in which the power coefficients of the turbine were obtained as a function of blade section and the attaching angle of a blade to the rotor. Those experimental results are discussed to obtain an optimum Darrieus turbine for tidal power generation.
We analyzed an existing turbine speed control logic in steam turbine power plant. If it is too late to respond a valve position demand signal, it is difficult to control turbine speed. In this paper we proposed a modified control logic and showed a good result by computer simulation.
A study on power performance testing of a wind turbine which has no met-mast at a distance of 2~4 rotor diameter was carried out using the Nacelle Transfer Function, NTF, according to IEC 61400-12-2. The wind data for this study was measured at HanKyoung wind farm of Jeju Island. The NTF was modeled using the correlation between wind speeds from the met-mast and from the wind turbine nacelle within 2~4 rotor diameter from the met-mast. The NTF was verified by the comparison of estimated Annual Energy Productions, AEPs, and binned power curves. The Nacelle Power Curve, NPC, was derived from the nacelle wind speed data corrected by NTF. The NPC of wind turbine under test and the power curve offered by the turbine manufacturer were compared to check whether the wind turbine is properly generating electricity. Overall the NPC was in good agreement with the manufacturer's power curve. The result showed power performance testing for a wind turbine which has no met-mast at a distance of 2~4 rotor diameter was successfully carried out in compliance with IEC 61400-12-2.
There are three main devices such as boiler producing steam, turbine driving generator and generator producing electricity. An electrical generator in power plant is driven and maintained its speed at rated by steam turbine which is coupled into generator directly. Therefore after the steam turbine reaches its rated speed and the generator gets into parallel operation with power grid, the electrical power can be increased by turbine controller or governor. The first governor was invented by James Watts for the steam engine to be maintained at a constant speed. The first governor by him was mechanical type with fly balls. The electrical type governor was created due to the progress of electronic devices such as operational amplifiers or integrated circuits. and Today digital electronic type of governor is being widely used in most prime movers.
