This paper deals with the dynamic voltage control problem at the inverter end of a HVDC link when connected to a weak AC system which has the potential for harmonic instability and commutation failures. The dynamic voltage control problem is tackled with a STATCOM (Static Compensator), which not only provides a rapid recovery from harmonic instability and commutation failures but also offers a lower cost filter design for HVDC systems. PSCAD/EMTDC simulations are presented to validate the proposed topology and to demonstrate its robust performance.
As a power system gets complicated and the number of regulating points increases, the voltage reactive power control tends to be more complex and more difficult. In the past, we took only the voltage regulation into account for this voltage control problem. pay attention not only to the voltage regulation but also to the rational system operation which minimizes transmission losses. Considering the rehuirements mentioned above we aim developing a method of coordination of these regulating equipments and also present some preliminary discussions aboutcomputer control of power systems which is now frequently available with the progress of digital computer technique.

This paper presents a new algorithm to determine accurate bus-wise transmission loss allocation utilizing path-integrals dictated by the transaction strategy. For any transaction strategy, the total sum of the allocated transmission losses of all buses is equal to the actual loss given by the AC power-flow calculation considering the distributed slack. In this paper, the bus-wise allocation of the transmission loss is calculated by integrating the differential loss along a path determined by the transaction strategy. The proposed algorithm is also compared with Galiana's method, which is the well-known transmission loss allocation algorithm based on integration. The performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated by case studies carried out on the WSCC 9-bus, IEEE 14-bus, New England 39-bus, and IEEE 118-bus systems. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm is fast and accurate with a large step size.
As digital systems continue to use components with faster edge rates and clock speeds, transmission of the digital information in these systems approaches the microwave realm. At these speeds digital signal fidelity becomes both a critical success factor and design challenge. The noise sources in digital systems include the noise in power supply, ground and packaging media due to simultaneous switching of drivers, signal reflections and distortions on single and multiple transmission lines. This paper presents theory, case studies and design considerations of gigabit interconnection for network and communication systems. The case studies show HSPICE and Ampredictor simulations of alternate approaches. Various subjects including skin effect and dielectric losses, interconnect simulations and crosstalks of connector, affected signal discontinuity, are addressed.
A GDHS(Geothermal District Heating System) is a heating system supplying a group of districts with heat extracted from geothermal sources. The advantages of GDHS include saving fuel consumption as well as reducing air pollution. This paper presents a case study for the economic feasibility model and analysis of a GDHS with which central/individual heating systems are replaced. Configuring to a simplified GDHS which consisits of subsurface systems, surface systems, and transmission/distribution systems, we find out the properties of the system and the model parameters affecting the initial investment/operating costs in order to develop a classical economic feasibility model given geothermal temperature. Based on our model parameter space, we analyzed the geothermal development project of the Jejoo Island probabilistically given prior information such as the expected geothermal power, the demand size and the length of transmission/distribution pipes.
A data error inspection algorithm for wireless digital data communication was developed. Original data converted By wireless digital data error inspection algorithm. Wireless digital data is high possibility to get distortion and lose by noise and barrier on wireless. If the data check damaged and lost at receiver, can't make it clear and can't judge whether this data is right or not. Therefore, by wireless transmission data need the data error inspection algorithm in order to decrease the data distortion and lose and to monitoring the transmission data as real time. This study consists of RF station for wireless transmission, Water Level Meter station for water level measurement and Error inspection algorithm for error check of transmission data. This study is also that investigation and search for error inspection algorithm in order to wireless digital data transmission in condition of the least data's damage and lose. Designed transmitter and receiver with one - chip micro process to protect to swell the volume of circuit. Had designed RF transmitter - receiver station simply by means of ATMEL one - chip micro processing the systems. Used 10mW of the best RF power and 448MHz-449MHz on frequency band which is open to public touse free within the limited power.
In this paper, we investigate the problem of minimizing the average transmission power of users while guaranteeing the average delay constraints in time-varying uplink channels. We design a scheduler that selects a user for transmission and determines the transmission rate of the selected user based on the channel and backlog information of users. Since it requires prohibitively high computation complexity to determine an optimal scheduler for multi-user systems, we propose a low-complexity scheduling scheme that can achieve near-optimal performance. In this scheme, we reduce the complexity by decomposing the multiuser problem into multiple individual user problems. We arrange the probability of selecting each user such that it can be determined only by the information of the corresponding user and then optimize the transmission rate of each user independently. We solve the user problem by using a dynamic programming approach and analyze the upper and lower bounds of average transmission power and average delay, respectively. In addition, we investigate the effects of the user selection algorithm on the performance for different channel models. We show that a channel-adaptive user selection algorithm can improve the energy efficiency under uncorrelated channels but the gain is obtainable only for loose delay requirements in the case of correlated channels. Based on this, we propose a user selection algorithm that adapts itself to both the channel condition and the backlog level, which turns out to be energy-efficient over wide range of delay requirement regardless of the channel model.
Electric power transmission utilities make an effort to maximize profit by reducing their electricity supply and operation costs while maintaining their reliability. The development of maintenance strategies for aged components is one of the more effective ways to achieve this goal. The reliability centered approach is a key method in providing optimal maintenance strategies. It considers the tradeoffs between the upfront maintenance costs and the potential costs incurred by reliability losses. This paper discusses the application of the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) technique used to find the optimal maintenance strategy for a transmission component in order to achieve the minimum total expected cost composed of Generation Cost (GC), Maintenance Cost (MC), Repair Cost (RC) and Outage Cost (OC). Three components of a transmission system are considered: overhead lines, underground cables and insulators are considered. In regards to aged and aging component, a component state model that uses a modified Markov chain is proposed. A simulation has been performed on an IEEE 9-bus system. The results from this simulation are quite encouraging, and then the proposed approach will be useful in practical maintenance scheduling.
