조력발전과 해류발전을 겸하는 통합발전시스템 타당성 연구 (Feasibility Study on the Integration Power System combining Tidal Power Generation and Ocean Current Power Generation)

  • The present paper relates to an integration power system combining tidal power generation and ocean current power generation, and more particularly, to an integration power system combining a tidal power plant and two ocean current power parks, which is capable of increasing the operating rate of power facilities and efficiently generating electrical energy by using incoming seawater into the lake through turbine generators of a tidal power plant or fast flow of seawater discharged to a sea side through sluice gates of a tidal power dam. It is shown that the integration power system is a new promising ocean power system and the ocean current turbine generators in the ocean current power parks of the integration power system are smaller in size and larger in power generation capacity compared with the tidal current turbine generators in the ocean.

  • The integrated power system combining a tidal power plant and two ocean current power parks is suggested. It is characterized by the set up of an ocean current power park in the lake side by installing a number of ocean current turbines generating electricity by using sea water flow discharged into the lake side from the turbine generator of a tidal power plant and an ocean current power park in the sea side by installing a number of ocean current turbines generating electricity by using sea water flow exiting into the sea side through the sluice gate from the lake side. The vision of the integrated power system is demonstrated by the simple theory and simulation results of the SIWHA Tidal Power Plant. And it is shown that the newly proposed integrated power system combining tidal power and ocean current power can produce very high economical benefits.

  • 해양구조물 전력시스템은 독립형 전력체계를 구축하기 어렵다. 그러므로 해상용 전력시스템을 효과적으로 운영하기 위하여 연료전지 및 하이브리드 전력체계를 연동한 전력시스템을 구축하는 것이 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 연료전지 기반의 해양구조물용 전력체계 설계에 필요한 수소 발생 메카니즘, 사용 전력량 계산과정 등을 기초로 해상용 연료전지 기반의 전력체계를 설계하고, 설계된 전력 시스템을 LabVIEW 프로그램을 활용하여 시뮬레이션 및 분석하였으며, 이를 기반으로 해양구조물용 전력시스템 설계 방안을 제안하고자 한다.

Study on a Fully Electrified Car Ferry Design Powered by Removable Battery Systems Considering Domestic Coastal Environment

  • As increasing the international community's awareness of greenhouse gas reduction, the demand for eco-friendly ship fuel has accelerated recently. The fundamental aim of this study is to develop a new type of fully electrified ferry for passengers and cars considering Korean domestic coastal environmental conditions. Several technical difficulties are encountered in applying a fully electric propulsion system based on removable battery systems into a ship due to limitations imposed by the batteries' size and capacity. This paper reviews and analyzes marine environment regulations strengthened recently, technology trends related to fully electric propulsion vessels in each country, and Korean domestic coastal environments. We propose a new fully electrified car ferry design with a displacement of 400 t applied in Korea. It is powered by removable battery systems pre-charged in a safe inland charging station. The mobile battery system is developed to enable roll-on and roll-off using wheels. The characteristics of the ship motion are analyzed based on the weight and location of the battery systems. We expect our battery systems to be applicable to larger ships in the future.

  • In order to convert wave energy into large quantities of high-efficiency power, it is necessary to study the optimal converter system appropriate for the environment of a specific open ocean area. A wave energy converter system with a counterweight converts the translation energy induced from the heave motion of a buoy into rotary energy. This experimental study evaluated the primary energy conversion efficiency of the system, which was installed on an ocean generating basin with a power take-off system. Moreover, this study analyzed the energy conversion performance according to the weight condition of the buoy, counter-weight, and flywheel by changing the load torque and wave period. Therefore, these results could be useful as basic data such as for the optimal design of a wave energy converter with a counterweight and improved energy conversion efficiency.

  • This paper has been studied that ocean wave vibration power generator is composed of buoy and vibration generator to make effective use of ocean wave energy. We designed buoy to can occur resonance for dominant frequency with ocean wave. And then we fitted the natural frequency of vibration system with vibration power generator to buoy's natural frequency. And we can show that the amplitude of ocean wave up and down motion is decreased, on the other hand, the displacement of vibration system with vibration power generator is increased. Therefore, ocean wave vibration power generator which is proposed in this paper has merits not only securing its stability from surroundings but also producing more electronic power by using ocean wave energy.

  • 본 논문에서는 파도의 상하운동에너지의 이용효율을 높이기 위해서 부양체와 2 D.O.F.(자유도) 진동발전시스템을 일체로 구성한 파력진동발전시스템을 제안한다. 파도가 갖는 상하운동 주파수 중 속도 에너지가 큰 주요 주파수 ${\omega}_1$, ${\omega}_2$을 선정하고, 2 D.O.F. 파력진동발전시스템의 고유진동수와 선정된 주파수들을 일치시킨다. 그러면 공진효과에 의해 각각의 질량과 권선사이의 상대속도가 파도의 상하운동속도보다 커진다. 또한 2 D.O.F. 진동시스템의 연성효과로 인한 1 D.O.F. 파력진동발전시스템보다 더 많은 전기에너지를 얻을 수 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서 제안한 2 D.O.F. 파력 발전시스템은 파도가 갖는 에너지를 더 많이 이용할 뿐만 아니라 더 많은 전기에너지를 얻을 수 있는 장점을 가짐을 알 수 있었다.

  • Recently, focus has been placed on ocean energy resources because environmental concerns regarding the exploitation of hydrocarbons are increasing. Tidal current power, one of the ocean energy resources, has great potential worldwide due to its high energy density. The flow velocity is the most crucial factor for the power estimation of TCP(Tidal Current Power) system since the kinetic energy of the flow is proportional to the cube of the flow speed. So sufficient inflow speed to generate electricity from the tidal current power is necessary. A duct system can accelerate the flow velocity, which could expand the applicable area of TCP systems to relatively lower velocity sites. The shapes of the inlet and outlet could affect the flow rate inside the duct. To investigate the performance of the duct, various ducts were preliminary designed considering the entire system that is single-point moored TCP system and a series of simulations were carried out using ANSYS-CFX v13.0 CFD software. This study introduces a ducted turbine system that can be moored to a seabed. A performance estimation and comparison of results with conventional tidal converters were summarized in this paper.

  • The Shiwhaho is an artificial lake located in Yellow sea of Korea where the ocean tidal current is significantly strong, and the tidal power plant is currently being under construction to generate electric power from the ocean tidal current. In addition to the tidal power plant under construction, an ocean current power park was proposed to maximize the power generation by utilizing the ocean current generated by the tidal power plant. To evaluate the feasibility of such combined power plant, the flow characteristics in the ocean current power parks connected with the tidal power plants were investigated numerically in the present study. When two different type of generations are operating together as a system, their interference may occur, which affects their efficiency. Therefore, the minimum distances between the tidal power plants and the ocean current power generators are studied in the present study to minimize such interference. The feasible region to generate power around the Shiwha tide embankment is also predicted by considering predicted ocean current speed distribution. Various arrangements of the ocean current generators are examined and an optimal arrangement is also discussed.

해양시설물용 하이브리드 발전시스템 설계 (A design of Hybrid power generation system for Ocean facilities)

  • 일반적으로 해양 시설물은 대부분 태양광 기반의 발전 시스템으로 구성된다. 태양광 발전 시스템은 날씨의 광량에 따라 변화한다. 태양광 발전 시스템은 흐린 날과 비오는 날에 전력 생산량이 감소한다. 태양광 발전량이 부족해지면 해양 시설물에 전력 부족이 발생한다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위하여 본 논문은 태양광과 파력 시스템을 복합한 하이브리드 발전 제어 시스템을 제안한다. 파력 발전 시스템은 웰스 터빈과 영구자석 발전기로 구성되어 있다. 제안하는 시스템을 특별한 지역에 설치하고 태양광 발전 전력과 파력 발전 전력을 측정하였다. 실험결과 태양광 전력은 파력에 비하여 안정적인 전원이다. 그러나 파력은 태양이 없는 동안에도 전력을 공급할 수 있다. 제안하는 하이브리드 시스템의 전력 특성이 태양광 시스템에 비하여 높은 안정성을 갖는 것을 알 수 있다.
