Load models are very important for improving the accuracy of stability analysis and load flow studies. Various loads are connected to a power bus and their characteristics of power consumption change with voltage and frequency. Thus, the effect of voltage/frequency changes must be considered in load modeling. In this work, artificial neural networks-ANNs- were used to construct the component load models for more accurate modeling. A typical residential load was selected and subjected to a test under variable voltage/frequency conditions. Acquired data were used to construct component models by ANNs. The aggregation process of separately determined load models is also presented in the paper. Furthermore, this paper proposes a method to transform a single load model constructed by the aggregation method into a mathematical load model that can be used in traditional power system analysis software.
The purpose of this paper is to present a model for operating an emergency power system(EPS) that can secure a sufficient power supply used in case of a fire by analyzing the status of power supplies for emergency and firefighting operations. Investigations on the one of the causes of the operational failure of firefighting systems show evidence of EPS. Generally, when power to a building is interrupted, EPS supplies the emergency load(excepted firefighting load) first. When a power outage and a fire occur simultaneously, the EPS must be able to supply both the emergency load and the firefighting load, especially the firefighting load to the end. However, in order to save construction costs, emergency power generators in apartment, commercial, and business buildings can satisfy only one of the required loads. In cases like this, when a power outage and a fire occur simultaneously, there is a danger of firefighting equipment not operating due to insufficient power supply from the emergency generator. Therefore, an EPS must have a reserved firefighting power that can supply both the firefighting and the emergency load. Such EPS, when faced with a danger of an overload, will shut down the supply to all or part of the emergency load, thus securing a continuous power supply to the firefighting equipment. The generator power system with reserved firefighting power (RFP) will also have an indicator to show that the selective control is being used. General power generation systems for emergency load and firefighting load were found to have a demand factor of 50-60% with a lump. However, when installing an EPS, the builders must choose the higher demand factor suggested according to the official approval demand factor of the building.
This paper describes the control methods to cut out the NFB(No Fuse Breaker) of shorted load in the auxiliary power supply, Generally, when the short-circuit occurs in the load of the auxiliary power supply, the auxiliary power supply stops the operation according to the protection sequence. Finally, the other auxiliary power supply stops the operation by the same fault, To resolve this problem, we suggest the control method to trip the NFB of shorted load. That is, when the short circuit occurs, the controller changes control mode from voltage mode to current mode without the operation of output contactor(SIVK) in the auxiliary power supply. The auxiliary power supply provides a large current for the short-circuit load. After some time, the NFB of the short-circuit load is cut off and the auxiliary power supply Provides stable voltage for the loads except for the short-circuit load.
A line overload emergency control strategy based on the source-load synergy coefficient is proposed in this paper. First, the definition of the source-load synergy coefficient is introduced. When line overload is detected, the source-load branch synergy coefficient and source-load distribution synergy coefficient are calculated according to the real-time operation mode of the system. Second, the generator tripping and load shedding control node set is determined according to the source-load branch synergy coefficient. And then, according to the line overload condition, the control quantity of each control node is determined using the Double Fitness Particle Swarm Optimization (DFPSO), with minimum system economic loss as the objective function. Thus load shedding for the overloaded line could be realized. On this basis, in order to guarantee continuous and reliable power supply, on the condition that no new line overload is caused, some of the untripped generators are selected according to the source-load distribution synergy coefficient to increase power output. Thus power supply could be restored to some of the shedded loads, and the economic loss caused by emergency control could be minimized. Simulation tests on the IEEE 10-machine 39-bus system verify the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed strategy.
Generally, the low-voltage customer has been used with a linear load and nonlinear load in the 3-phase 4-wire distribution system. Linear load has usually configured the resistance and inductance, current phase is slower than the voltage phase, so power factor is low. It is required for the power factor correction device prior to the phase of the current than the voltage. The capacitor is connected in parallel to the load in order to ensure a low power factor. Power converter such as an inverter is a typical non-linear load. Non-linear load generates harmonic currents in the energy conversion process. Many electrical equipment may be adversely affected by the harmonic current. There, passive or active filter have been used to reduce these harmonics current. Passive filter consisting of inductor and capacitor generates a reactive power. According to the combination of filter inductor and capacitor, reactive power can be adjusted. In this paper, we analyzed how the combination of inductor and capacitor affects the overall power factor by simulation and measurement.
We present in this paper a novel power load prediction method using temporal pattern mining from AMR(Automatic Meter Reading) data. Since the power load patterns have time-varying characteristic and very different patterns according to the hour, time, day and week and so on, it gives rise to the uninformative results if only traditional data mining is used. Also, research on data mining for analyzing electric load patterns focused on cluster analysis and classification methods. However despite the usefulness of rules that include temporal dimension and the fact that the AMR data has temporal attribute, the above methods were limited in static pattern extraction and did not consider temporal attributes. Therefore, we propose a new classification method for predicting power load patterns. The main tasks include clustering method and temporal classification method. Cluster analysis is used to create load pattern classes and the representative load profiles for each class. Next, the classification method uses representative load profiles to build a classifier able to assign different load patterns to the existing classes. The proposed classification method is the Calendar-based temporal mining and it discovers electric load patterns in multiple time granularities. Lastly, we show that the proposed method used AMR data and discovered more interest patterns.
This paper describes a load simulator with power-recovery capability, which is based on the voltage source converter-inverter set. The load simulator described in this paper can save the electric energy that should be consumed to test the operation and performance of the distributed generation system and the power quality compensator. The load simulator consists of a converter-inverter set with a DSP controller for system control and PWM pulse generation. The converter operates as a universal load to model the linear load and the non-linear load, while the inverter feed the energy back to the power source with harmonic compensation. The load simulator can be widely used in the lab to test the performance of the distributed generation system and the power quality compensator.
For effective distribution planning and operation, we need a reliable estimation of operation capacity. But it is difficult to ensure reliability due to the low accuracy of section load data, which is used as a basis in estimating the operation capacity. This paper discusses how to improve the accuracy of section load data by analyzing the existing method of estimating the section load, using statistical techniques to adjust the acquired data, and using the section load estimation algorithm to estimate the section load based on the adjusted data.
In electric power industry. load balance has been one of the most fundamental and important management goals. Therefore. the strategy to achieve high quality load management now includes load balance besides the stabilization of electricity supply and quality management of electricity. Amongst many techniques of load management. direct load management has been actively studied and utilized to increase power facility and peak load suppression. Higher peak load situation is appeared during summer than during winter in Korea. and approximately 20% of the peak load is due to the load for air-conditioning. To cope with this peak load problem during summer KEPCO is performing a research project to develop a system to remotely control air-conditioning load using wireless communication. Currently, applicable facilities are limited to small-scale air-conditioning facility that has less than 2KW power capacity. This paper described the 1st year of efforts made in the study.
This study is designed to predict the overall electric power load, to apply the method of time sharing and to reduce simultaneous load factor of electric power when authorized by user entering demand plans and using schedules into the user's interface for a certain period of time. This is about smart grid, which reduces electric power load through simultaneous load factor of electric power reduction system supervision agent. Also, this study has the following characteristics. First, it is the user interface which enables authorized users to enter and send/receive such data as demand plan and using schedule for a certain period of time. Second, it is the database server, which collects, classifies, analyzes, saves and manages demand forecast data for a certain period of time. Third, is the simultaneous load factor of electric power control agent, which controls usage of electric power by getting control signal, which is intended to reduce the simultaneous load factor of electric power by the use of the time sharing control system, form the user interface, which also integrate and compare the data which were gained from the interface and the demand forecast data of the certain period of time.
