Single Stage Current-Balancing Multi-Channel LED Driver for LED TV (LED TV를 위한 단일전력단 전류평형 다채널 LED 구동회로)

  • A single-stage current-balancing multi-channel light-emitting diode (LED) driver is proposed in this study. The conventional LED driver system consists of two cascaded power conversion stages, i.e., an isolation DC/DC converter and LED driver. LED driver is usually implemented with the same number of expensive boost converters as those of LED channels to tightly control the current through each LED channel. Therefore, its overall system size is not only bulky, but the cost is rather high. By contrast, the proposed LED driver system is composed of a single power stage with the DC/DC converter and LED driver merged. Although the current balancing circuit of the proposed LED driver requires only passive devices instead of expensive boost converters, all currents through multi-channel LEDs can be well balanced. Therefore, the proposed LED driver features a small system size, improved efficiency, and low cost. To confirm the validity of the proposed driver, its operation and performance are verified on a prototype for a 46" LED TV.

  • In this paper, a power management circuit was designed to drive the emergency lighting LED in the underground facility for public utilities using magnetic energy harvest. The magnetic energy harvest consists of a harvest elements and power management circuits. The proposed circuit was made of a rectifier, a battery charging circuit, and an LED driving circuit. In normal times, the battery is charged with the harvested power, and in the event of an emergency, the energy stored in the battery is used to drive the LED. As a result of the measurement, it took two minutes to charge the 47 mF capacitor. This is the amount of power that can drive an LED for emergency lighting for about three and a half minutes. Through this, it was confirmed that the power management circuit for magnetic energy harvest proposed in this paper can be used as an emergency lighting LED-driven power device in an underground facility for public utilities where it is difficult to draw separate power.

  • Channel letter용 High Power LED Module 개발하기 위하여, 1W 백색(단색) LED 1EA LED Module과 1W 백색(단색) LED 3EA LED Module, 3W RGB LED 1EA LED Module에 대한 3종의 제품 개발하고, 고효율 RGB LED SMPS 회로 설계, 광색 가변을 위한 RGB LED 최적 배치 및 렌즈 설계, 고출력 1W LED Module 방열 설계 및 기구 개발, SMPS 회로 및 RGB LED 배열 회로 통합 시제품 직접 제작하였다, 신뢰성 평가 및 성능 시험 등을 실시하였으며, T자형 Channel letter에 기존 고휘도 LED Module과 개발된 고출력 LED Nodule을 동시에 적용한 결과, 기존 고휘도 LED Module를 사용하였을 경우에는 $1W{\times}10$개로 10W의 전력을 소비하였으나 개발된 고출력 LED Nodule은 $3W{\times}3$개로 9W의 전력을 소비하였으며 1W의 에너지가 절감되었음에도 불구하고 평균 휘도는 약 2.5배, 균제도는 1.43 배가 더 우수한 결과를 얻었다.

  • LED(Light Emitting Diode)는 친환경적 특성, 긴 수명, 우수한 효율, 빠른 응답 속도 등의 장점이 있어 최근 기존의 백열 전등 및 형광등을 대체하는 조명 수단으로 각광받고 있다. 기존의 LED구동회로를 조광기용 MR16안정기에 연결할 경우 안정기와 조광기의 오동작으로 인해 Flicker 현상이 발생되고 선형적인 Dimming이 불가능하다. 그러므로 본 논문에서는 MR16 안정기와 조광기용 MR16안정기를 호환하는 Flicker Free LED 구동회로를 제안한다. 또한 LED구동회로의 원리와 Dimming에 따른 LED전류제어기법 원리를 설명하고 모의실험 및 시작품 제작을 통해 제안 회로의 타당성을 검증한다.

  • In line with the rapid economic growth of many countries, fossil fuel energy sources are also rapidly depleting. Therefore, the price is also rising rapidly, so it is necessary to develop new and renewable energy sources such as hydropower, geothermal power, nuclear power, wind power and solar energy to replace fossil fuel energy in the future. In this study, development of rotating concentrator module system, development of rotating module control control system, development of lamp and charge control controller, configuration and prototype production of rotating concentrating solar LED street light system, efficiency of rotating concentrating solar LED street light, and power production. The research was conducted in the order of evaluation of comprehensive performance tests such as consumption and consumption. As a result, the developed high-efficiency rotation-concentrating hybrid solar LED street light module system has a 50% higher light-gathering efficiency than existing products by tracing sunlight by self-developing a rotation-collecting module on existing solar LED street lamps according to the characteristics of Korea's topography. and the power generation was improved by more than 40%.

  • 본 논문은 다중 채널 LED(Light Emitting Diode) 구동을 위한 모듈형 전류 평형 회로를 제안한다. 기존 방식은 DC/DC 컨버터단과 다중 채널 LED 전류제어를 위해 각 채널마다 일정한 전류 제어를 하는 LED 드라이버단의 직렬 연결로 구성된다. 하지만 제안회로는 캐패시터의 전하평형원리에 의해 단일 채널 전류 제어로 모든 채널의 LED 전류를 동일하게 제어할 수 있어 DC/DC 컨버터와 LED 드라이버단을 하나로 통합한 단일 전력단 LED 구동회로 구성이 가능하며, 이는 회로구성의 단일화로 소자수 및 사이즈의 소형화가 가능하다. 또한 수동소자만으로 이루어진 모듈형 회로로써 모듈의 추가에 따라 요구되는 LED 채널 수 만큼 다채널 모듈로 확장할 수 있다. 제안회로의 타당성 검증을 위해 1kW급 LED 구동회로에 적용한 시뮬레이션 결과를 제시한다.

  • 본 논문은 조명용 RGB LED 구동 장치를 위한 새로운 방식의 Two-stage RGB LED 구동 회로를 제안한다. 제안된 회로는 PFC Flyback Converter의 다중 출력을 이용하여 LED 구동 회로의 전압 스트레스를 줄이면서 효율을 높일 수 있는 새로운 방식의 LED 구동회로이다. 제안된 회로는 Universal Input에서 25W 이상 조명 장치에 적용되는 IEC61000-3-2 Class C 규제를 만족하며, RGB LED의 개별적인 Digital Dimming을 사용하여 다양한 색을 구현할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 제안된 회로의 동작 원리를 설명하고, 시뮬레이션 및 RGB LED에 실제 적용 실험하여 제안 회로의 유용성을 입증하였다.

  • An LED lighting which adjusted brightness according to the surround ambient implemented using PWM technology and power devices. To measure the brightness of surround ambient a CdS sensor was used. A control board for the generation of the PWM signal was made using a MCU and duty ratio was controlled according to light intensity of surround ambient of the system. To drive the LED lamps which require high-voltage and high-current power devices were used for switching the DC power supply. Measurement results show that the IGBT is excellent as only lineality but the PowerBJT is more good to consider to efficiency and cost.

  • A TRIAC dimming LED driver that can control the brightness of LED arrays for a wide range of source voltage variations is proposed in this paper. Unlike conventional PWM LED drivers, the proposed LED driver adopts a TRIAC switch, which inherently guarantees zero current switching and has been proven to be quite reliable over its long lifetime. Unlike previous TRIAC type LED drivers, the proposed LED driver is composed of an LC input filter and a variable switched capacitance, which is modulated by the TRIAC turn-on timing. Thus, the LED power regulation and dimming control, which are done by a volume resistor in the same way as the conventional TRIAC dimmers, can be simultaneously performed by the TRIAC control circuit. Because the proposed LED driver has high efficiency and a long lifetime with a high power factor (PF) and low total harmonic distortion (THD) characteristics, it is quite adequate for industrial lighting applications such as streets, factories, parking garages, and emergency stairs. A simple step-down capacitive power supply circuit composed of passive components only is also proposed, which is quite useful for providing DC power from an AC source without a bulky and heavy transformer. A prototype 60 W LED driver was implemented by the proposed design procedure and verified by simulation and experimental results, where the efficiency, PF, and THD are 92%, 0.94, and 6.3%, respectively. The LED power variation is well mitigated to below ${\pm}2%$ for 190 V < $V_s$ < 250 V by using the proposed simple control circuit.

  • 최근 LED 기술을 활용한 LED 조명은 밝기와 수명 및 저전력이라는 장점으로 인하여 현재 시중에 급속도로 퍼저 나가고 있다. 이러한 LED를 조명으로 사용하기 위한 기반 기술은 SMPS(Switching Mode Power Supply) 설계 기술이라 할 수 있다. 또한 LED 성능은 입력 전원 상태 및 LED 조명의 부하 조건에 따라 오차가 발생하여 LED등의 균일한 밝기를 유지하는데 기술적으로 많은 어려움이 있다. 본 논문에서는 12[W] 급 LED 다운 라이트에 대하여 LED SMPS의 전류 출력에 대하여 정전류제어를 함으로서 입/출력 조건의 변동에 대응하여 보다 안정적인 LED 등의 균일한 밝기를 유지하기 위한 12[W] 급 LED 다운 라이트용 SMPS에 PFC(Power Factor Correction) 회로를 추가하여 역율을 개선을 하며, 전압 위상에 따른 전류 위상 분포를 규일 비율로 제어 하여 보다 안정적인 밝기를 제공하는 12[W] 급 LED 조명용 SMPS를 개발하여 상품화를 제안하고자 한다.
