This paper presents analysis, modeling, and design of a low-harmonic, isolated, active-clamped SEPIC for future avionics applications. Simpler converter dynamics, high switching frequency, zero voltage-Transition-PWM switching, and a single-layer transformer construction result. This paper describes complete design of a digital controller for a high-frequency switching power supply. Guidelines for the minimum required resolution of the analog-to-digital converter, the pulse-width modulator, and the fixed-point computational unit is derived. A design example based on a SEPIC converter operating at the high switching frequency is presented. The controller design is based on direct digital design approach and standard root-locus techniques.
It is always necessary to high performance power supplies for the magnet system in the accelerator, especially when the number of power supplies are large. When have developed the compact power supply using switching technology instead of SCR phase control. We adopt the pulse width modulation(PWM) method with a half bridge DC/DC converter. In this way, we can make a compact system with light weight and small volume. Actual system we developed is 1.2kW, 35V/35A bipolar DC power supply current precision of +/-0.02%. It is possible to mount 10 unit in a conventional 19 rack. The built in controller has an RS422 protocol to drive 10 unit by one serial port up to 1.2km distance. If we adopt RS485 protocol, one serial port can control 32 power supplies. In this paper, we will report the design and performance of the prototype power supply.
This paper is proposed a sinusoidal input current multi-level ac-dc converter using transformer. The multi-level converter which controls input current by combining Buck converter to Improve input current characteristics. This method, which is multiplying and duplicating output of converter of equal capacity, is able to control unit power factor of input current, reduce the problem caused by high frequency switching, and apply to high power converter because filter is not necessary The feasibility of the circuit is verified by computer simulation using PSIM
In this paper, single-phase PWM AC to AC converter that operates with unit power factor and sinusoidal input line currents is presented. The output voltage of this converter is able to be obtain step up voltage as well as step down voltage. because the converter applies to operating method of buck-boost converter. The control of this converter is performed with PI control method. By using this control method low lipples in the output current and the voltage as well as fast dynamic response are achieved.
This paper discusses a DC distribution system which has been supplied by external AC systems as well as local microturbine distributed generation system in order to demonstrate an overall solution to power quality issue. Based on the dynamic model of the converter, a design procedure has been presented. In this paper, the power flow control in DC distribution system has been achieved by network converters. A suitable control strategy for these converters has been proposed, too. They have DC voltage droop regulator and novel instantaneous power regulation scheme. Also, a novel control system has been proposed for MT converter. Several case studies have been studied and the simulation results show that DC distribution system including microturbine unit can provide the premium power quality using proposed methods.
For transferring the primary power to the secondary one, the high frequency series resonant converter has been widely used for the contactless power supply system. However, the high frequency series resonant converter has the disadvantages such as the low efficiency, the high voltage gain characteristics and deviation of the phase angle in the overall load range. To improve this disadvantage, In this paper, the characteristics of the high efficiency and unit voltage gain as well as in phase are revealed in the proposed three-level LCLC ( Inductor - Capacitor - Inductor -Capacitor)resonant converter. The results are verified on the simulation based on the theoretical analysis and the 4kW experimental prototype.
Series hybrid electric vehicles (SHEVs) having multiple power sources such as an engine- generator (EnGen), a battery, and an ultra-capacitor require a power control unit with high power density and reliable control operation. However, manufacturing using separate individual power converters has the disadvantage of low power density and requires a large number of power and signal cable wires. It is also difficult to implement the optimal power distribution and fault management algorithm because of the communication delay between the units. In order to address these concerns, this approach presents a design methodology and a power control algorithm of an integrated power converter for the SHEVs powered by multiple power sources. In this work, the design methodology of the integrated power control unit (IPCU) is firstly elaborately described, and then efficient and reliable power distribution algorithms are proposed. The design works are verified with product-level and vehicle-level performance experiments on a 10-ton SHEV.
The charge redistribution digital-to-analog converter(CR-DAC) is often used for successive approximation register analog-to-digital converter(SAR ADC) that requiring low power consumption and small circuit area. However, CR-DAC is required 2 to the power of N unit capacitors to generate reference voltage for successive approximation of the N-bit SAR ADC, and many unit capacitors occupy large circuit area and consume more power. In order to improve this problem, this paper proposes SAR ADC using series capacitor DAC. The series capacitor DAC is required 2(1+N) unit capacitors to generate reference voltage for successive approximation and charges only two capacitors of the reference generation block. Because of these structural characteristics, the SAR ADC using series capacitor DAC can reduce the power consumption and circuit area. Proposed SAR ADC was designed in CMOS 180nm process, and at 1.8V supply voltage and 500kS/s sampling rate, proposed 6-bit SAR ADC have signal-to-noise and distortion ratio(SNDR) of 36.49dB, effective number of bits(ENOB) of 5.77-bit, power consumption of 294uW.
Due to several advantages of Pulse Width Modulation(PWM) Converter, such as unity power factor operation, elimination of low-order harmonics and regeneration of motor braking energy to source, the application range of PWM Converter has been rapidly extended in industrial application. Nowadays, vector control algorithm and space vector PWM(SVPWM) method are applied to improve the performances of PWM Converter, but vector control algorithm and SVPWM require to use Microprocessor and other digital devices in hardware, causing costly and somewhat large dimension system. In every practical application of energy conversion equipments, the design and implementation should be carried out considering cost and performance. High performance and low cost is the best choice for energy conversion equipments. So, this paper presents the practical design method and implementation results of 3-phase PWM Converter with analog hysteresis current controller, and verifies the performances of unit power factor operation and energy regeneration operation via experimental results.
A optimal soft switching technique for A/DC full bridge converter is proposed. variable soft switching single stage AC/DC full bridge converter with unit power factor are presented in this paper. Using soft switching, we can reduce a switching losses. As a result, achieving good power factor and achieving a good efficiency. We search a optimal soft switching technique in this paper and to verify the theoretical analysis of the presented AC/DC full bridge converter, a design example is given with its Pspice and Psim simulation and experimental results.
