Three single loop fuzzy logic controllers are designed independently for the control of boiler system of fossil-power plant. The control rules and the membership functions of proposed fuzzy logic control system are generated automatically without using plant model. The simulation shows successful results for wide range operation of boiler system of fossil-power plant.
This paper proposes a real-time implementation of an optimal operation of a double stage grid connected wind power system incorporating an active power filter (APF). The system is used to supply the nonlinear loads with harmonics and reactive power compensation. On the generator side, a new adaptive neuro fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) based maximum power point tracking (MPPT) control is proposed to track the maximum wind power point regardless of wind speed fluctuations. Whereas on the grid side, a modified predictive current control (PCC) algorithm is used to control the APF, and allow to ensure both compensating harmonic currents and injecting the generated power into the grid. Also a type 2 fuzzy logic controller is used to control the DC-link capacitor in order to improve the dynamic response of the APF, and to ensure a well-smoothed DC-Link capacitor voltage. The gained benefits from these proposed control algorithms are the main contribution in this work. The proposed control scheme is implemented on a small-scale wind energy conversion system (WECS) controlled by a dSPACE 1104 card. Experimental results show that the proposed T2FLC maintains the DC-Link capacitor voltage within the limit for injecting the power into the grid. In addition, the PCC of the APF guarantees a flexible settlement of real power exchanges from the WECS to the grid with a high power factor operation.

In this paper, three types of power control strategies for controlling a Fuel Cell Hybrid Electric Vehicle(FCHEV) are studied in view of fuel economy. The FCHEV has become one of alternatives for future vehicles since it does emit water only without any exhaust gas while it has a high well-to-wheel efficiency together with an energy saving due to regenerative braking. However, it has also several disadvantages such as the complexity of vehicle system, the increased weight and the extra battery cost. Among various power control strategies, a static power control strategy, a power assist control strategy and a fuzzy logic-based power control strategy are simulated and compared to show the effectiveness of each method.

A controller and sensor fault tolerant system jot a steam generator is designed with fuzzy logic. A structure of the : proposed fault tolerant redundant system is composed of a supervisor and two fuzzy weighting modulators. A supervisor alternatively checks a controlled and a sensor induced performances to identify Which Part, a controller or a sensor, is faulty. In order to analyze controller induced performance both an error and a charge in error of the system output an chosen as fuzzy variables. The fuzzy logic jot a sensor induced performance uses two variables : a deviation between two sensor outputs and its frequency, Fuzzy weighting modulator generates an output signal compensated for faulty input signal. Simulations show that the : proposed fault tolerant control scheme jot a steam generator regulates welt water level by suppressing fault effect of either controllers or sensors. Therefore through duplicating sensors and controllers with the proposed fault tolerant scheme, both a reliability of a steam generator control and sensor system and that of a power plant increase even mote.

Photovoltaic (PV) generators have nonlinear V-I characteristics and maximum power points which vary with illumination level and temperature. Using a maximum power point tracker (MPPT) with an intermediate converter can increase the system efficiency by matching the PV systems to the load. This paper presents a maximum power point tracker based on fuzzy logic and a control scheme for a single-phase inverter connected to the utility grid. The fuzzy logic controller (FLC) provides an adaptive nature for system performance. Also the FLC provides excellent features such as fast response, good performance and the ability to change the fuzzy parameters to improve the control system. A single-phase AC-DC inverter is used to connect the PV system to the grid utility and local loads. While a control scheme is implemented to inject the PV output power to the utility grid at unity power factor and reduced harmonic level. The simulation results have shown the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.
Clock Controlled Dual keeper Domino logic structures (CCDD_1 and CCDD_2) for achieving a high-speed performance with low power consumption and a good noise margin are proposed in this paper. The keeper control circuit comprises an additional PMOS keeper transistor controlled by the clock and foot node voltage. This control mechanism offers abrupt conditional control of the keeper circuit and reduces the contention current, leading to high-speed performance. The keeper transistor arrangement also reduces the loop gain associated with the feedback circuitry. Hence, the circuits offer less delay variability. The design and simulation of various wide fan-in designs using 180 nm CMOS technology validates the proposed CCDD_1 and CCDD_2 designs, offering an increased speed performance of 7.2% and 8.5%, respectively, over a conventional domino logic structure. The noise gain margin analysis proves good robustness of the CCDD structures when compared with a conventional domino logic circuit configuration. A Monte Carlo simulation for 2,000 runs under statistical process variations demonstrates that the proposed CCDD circuits offer a significantly reduced delay variability factor.

This paper presents a modeling and simulation of a fuzzy controller for maximum power extraction of a grid-connected wind energy conversion system with a link of a rectifier and an inverter. It discusses the maximum power control algorithm for a wind turbine and proposes, in a graphical form, the relationships of wind turbine output, rotor speed, power coefficient, tip-speed ratio with wind speed when the wind turbine is operated under the maximum power control. The control objective is to always extract maximum power from wind and transfer the power to the utility by controlling both the pitch angle of the wind turbine blades and the inverter firing angle. Pitch control method is mechanically complicated, but the control performance is better than that of the stall regulation method. The simulation results performed on MATLAB will show the variation of generator's rotor angle and rotor speed, pitch angle, and generator output.
The improvement of load following operation of the thermal power plant is influenced to the electrical quality. Analysis of boiler, turbine, and governor system, and the study of control algorithm are preceded. The thermal power plant is operated by various control systems. In the case of faulty governor system, it takes long days to solve the problem and impossible to repair the mechanism without outage. A non-planned out-age is taken into consideration because of economical power production. In this paper, to clear the continuous swings of an old turbine governor system(YEOSU #1), the trend, the control logic, and the hydraulic mechanism are analyzed, and then the control circuit with ADAPT function and the 1st order lag circuit are inserted and modified. After that, the power plant comes to automatic governor control operation.

This paper is a technical review of the research and development results of the Korea Nuclear Instrumentation and Control System (KNICS) project and Nu-Tech 2012 program. In these projects man-machine interface system architecture, two digital platforms, and several control and protection systems were developed. One platform is a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) for a digital safety system and another platform is a Distributed Control System (DCS) for a non-safety control system. With the safety-grade platform PLC, a reactor protection system, an engineered safety feature-component control system, and reactor core protection system were developed. A power control system was developed based on the DCS. A logic alarm cause tracking system was developed as a man-machine interface for APR1400. Also, Integrated Performance Validation Facility (IPVF) was developed for the evaluation of the function and performance of developed I&C systems. The safety-grade platform PLC and the digital safety system obtained approval for the topical report from the Korean regulatory body in February of 2009. A utility and vendor company will determine the suitability of the KNICS and Nu- Tech 2012 products to apply them to the planned nuclear power plants.
