  • This study examined the power consumption of angling boats during entry, departure, and fishing operations using a black box-type storage device. Through this analysis, it determined the energy consumption and carbon emissions of small fishing boats used for catching the largehead hairtail. The energy consumption and carbon emissions were calculated using formulas provided by the Korea Energy Agency, which incorporated updated emission coefficients from 2022. The findings revealed that the average power consumption of small fishing boats for the largehead hairtail was 546.3 kWh, with a total energy consumption of 0.1164 TOE and carbon emissions of 24.057 CO2. The average energy consumption was calculated at 0.0006 TOE per kilogram, and the carbon emissions were determined to be 0.135 CO2/kg.

  • In order to increase energy efficiency, developments of the advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) in the smart grid technology have recently been actively conducted. An essential part of AMI is analyzing power consumption and forecasting consumption patterns. In this paper, we analyze the power consumption and summarized the data errors. Monthly power consumption patterns are also analyzed using the k-means clustering algorithm. Forecasting the consumption pattern by each household is difficult. Therefore, we first classify the data into 100 clusters and then predict the average of the next day as the daily average of the clusters based on the deep neural network. Using practically collected AMI data, we analyzed the data errors and could successfully conducted power forecasting based on a clustering technique.

  • Offering of different attractive opportunities by different wireless technologies trends the convergence of heterogeneous networks for the future wireless communication system. To make a seamless handover among the heterogeneous networks, the optimization of the power consumption, and optimal selection of interface are the challenging issues. The access of multi interfaces simultaneously reduces the handover latency and data loss in heterogeneous handover. The mobile node (MN) maintains one interface connection while other interface is used for handover process. However, it causes much battery power consumption. In this paper we propose an efficient interface selection scheme including interface selection algorithms, interface selection procedures considering battery power consumption and user mobility with other existing parameters for overlaying networks. We also propose a priority based network selection scheme according to the service types. MN‘s battery power level, provision of QoS/QoE and our proposed priority parameters are considered as more important parameters for our interface selection algorithm. The performances of the proposed scheme are verified using numerical analysis.

  • The consumption of mobile device batteries which are limited resources is an important criterion when circuit designers analyze and evaluate circuits. For this reason, researchers conducted researches with different models of battery consumption to analyze power consumption of mobile devices. The battery consumption model generation techniques have various characteristics depending on availability of sensors, run-time model generation, and models for using in verification and testing. However, there is lack of comparison and analysis between varied battery consumption model generation methods. In this research, we compare and evaluate the analysis methods which have been studied so far to support the circuit investigation for circuit designers. Finally, we suggest the direction of researches in battery consumption analysis using the comparison result.

  • Experimental study on the unsteady aerodynamics analysis and power consumption of a folding wing is accomplished using a wind tunnel testing. A folding wing model is fabricated and actuated using servo motors. The flapping wing consists of an inboard main wing and an outboard folding wing. The aerodynamic forces and consumed powers of the flapping wing are measured by changing the flapping and folding wings inside a low-speed wind tunnel. In order to calculate the aerodynamic forces, the measured forces are modified using static test data. It was found that the effect of the folding wing on the flapping wing's total lift is small but the effect of the folding wing on the total thrust is larger than the main wing. The folding motion requires the extra use of the servo motor. Thus, the amount of the energy consumption increases when both the wings are actuated together. As the flight speed increases, the power consumption of the folding wing decreases which results in energy saving.

  • A stable power supply is very important for the maintenance and operation of the power infrastructure. Accurate power consumption prediction is therefore needed. In particular, a university campus is an institution with one of the highest power consumptions and tends to have a wide variation of electrical load depending on time and environment. For this reason, a model that can accurately predict power consumption is required for the effective operation of the power system. The disadvantage of the existing time series prediction technique is that the prediction performance is greatly degraded because the width of the prediction interval increases as the difference between the learning time and the prediction time increases. In this paper, we first classify power data with similar time series patterns considering the date, day of the week, holiday, and semester. Next, each ARIMA model is constructed based on the classified data set and a daily power consumption forecasting method of the university campus is proposed through the time series cross-validation of the predicted time. In order to evaluate the accuracy of the prediction, we confirmed the validity of the proposed method by applying performance indicators.

  • In this paper, we propose a unidirectional transmission of critical information obtained by keyboard hacking or kernel and keyboard driver hacking even though the computer is not connected to the external network. We show the hacking can be attempted in the proposed method to show the way preventing such attempts in advance. Firewalls and other various methods are used to prevent the hacking from the external network but the hacking is also attempted in various ways to detour the firewall. One of the most effective way preventing from the hacking attack is physically disconnect the internal intranet systems from the external internet and most of the government systems, military systems and big corporate systems are using this way as on one of the protection method. In this paper, we show the feasibility of transmission of security codes, etc via the short message to the external network on the assumption that a hacking program such as Trojan Horse is installed on the computer systems separated from the external network. Previous studies showed that the letters on the monitor can be hijacked by electromagnetic analysis on the computer to obtain the information even though the system is not connected ti the network. Other studies showed that the security code hint can obtained by analyzing the power consumption distribution of CPU. In this paper, the power consumption distribution of externally accessible power line is analyzed to obtain the information and the information can be transmitted to the external network. Software controlling the CPU and GPU usage is designed to control the power supply of computer. The sensors such as the Rogowski coils can be used on the external power line to collect the data of power consumption change rates. To transmit the user password by short message, due to the capacitive components and the obstacle from other power supply, A very slow protocol are used.

  • This paper presents the analysis for power consumption, mechanical vibration and acoustic noise characteristics of the Coreless and Slotless Brushless DC motor in Digital Lightening Processor(DLP) Motor with the Air-Dynamic Bearing. The Coreless BLDC motor has not the stator yoke as well as the stator slot to remove the unbalance force by the interaction between the stator yoke and Air-Dynamic Bearing clearance. The assembling tolerance and the processing error make the air-gap difference between the magnet and the stator yoke .which occurs the unbalanced electro-magnetic force in the Slotless BLDC motor. It imposes the air-dynamic bearing on the disturbance force and makes the Air-Dynamic Bearing vibrated and noised. Also, The attractive force between the magnet and the silicon steel stator yoke increases the power consumption. In this paper, the power consumption, mechanical vibration and acoustic noise of the Coreless BLDC motor and the Slotless BLDC motor with the silicon steel stator yoke are simulated, analyzed, and tested using the manufactured proto-type motors with Air-Dynamic bearing. The simulated and tested results present that the Coreless BLDC motor without the silicon steel stator yoke has the lower mechanical vibration and noise ,and lower power consumption than the Slotless BLDC motor with the silicon steel stator yoke in Digital Lightening Processor Motor with Air-Dynamic Bearing.

  • Obfuscation is known as one of the most effective methods to protect software against malicious reverse engineering transforming the software into more complicated one with still preserving the original semantic. However, obfuscating a program can increase both code size of the program and execution time compared to the original program. In mobile devices, the increases of code size and execution time incur the waste of resources including the increase of power consumption. This paper has analyzed the effectiveness of some high-level obfuscation algorithms as well as their power consumption with implementing them under an embedded board equipped with ARM processor. The analysis results show that there is (are) an efficient obfuscation method(s) in terms of execution time or power consumption according to characteristics of a given program.

  • Differential Power Analysis (DPA) is well known as one of efficient physical side-channel attack methods using leakage power consumption traces. However, since the power traces usually include the components irrelevant to the encryption, the efficiency of the DPA attack may be degraded. To enhance the performance of DPA, we introduce a pre-processing technique which extracts the encryption-related parts from the measured power consumption signals. Experimental results show that the DPA attack with the use of the proposed pre-processing method detects correct cipher keys with much smaller number of signals compared to that of the conventional DPA attack.
