  • In recent years, research on smart factory wireless mobile communication technology that wirelessly remotely controls utilities is being actively conducted. The Wi-SUN(Wireless Smart Utility Network) Alliance proposed Wi-SUN protocol structure suitable for building a platform such as a smart factory as a new wireless communication standardization standard based on EEE802.15.4g/e. It analyzes the performance of the IEEE802.15.4e CSL(Coordinated Sampled Listening) Mode MAC(Media Access Control) in terms of power consumption and looks at considerations for efficient operation. Although CSL-MAC can dramatically reduce power consumption at the receiving end in an asynchronous manner, it has been found that the transmitting end has a disadvantage in that power consumption occurs due to an excessive wake-up sequence.

  • Since air compressor, as an essential equipment used in the factory and plant operations, accounts for around 20% of the total domestic electricity consumption, a real time sensor data monitoring based analysis for electricity consumption reduction is important. In particular, flow rates and pressures of these monitored variables has a direct correlation with the power consumption. This paper proposes a method to identify if the measurement error of the flow rate sensor comes from the sensor measurement limit through bivariate classification analysis of the flow rate and power using the EM (Expectation and Maximization) Algorithm and show how to enable more accurate analysis by the correlation between the flow rate and power on the right-censored data.

  • The millennial generation, which has emerged as one of the strongest influence and consumption power, pursues happiness of the present centering on "I"; consumes luxury products for themselves. The purpose of this study was to evaluate how the narcissism and materialism of the millennial generation affect the compensatory consumption of luxury products in negative situations and the moderating effect of self-control. This study included 315 millennial males and females living in Seoul and Gyeonggi area. Frequency analysis, reliability analysis, multiple regression analysis, and hierarchical regression analysis were conducted using SPSS 25.0 statistical program. Based on our findings, narcissism and materialism had a statistically significant effect on compensatory consumption under positive situations. However, while materialism had a statistically significant effect on compensatory consumption under negative situations, narcissism did not have a statistically significant effect on compensatory consumption under negative situations. Notably, self-control had a moderating effect in the influence of materialism on compensatory consumption under negative situations; narcissism did not. This study holds academic significance as the concept of compensatory consumption and self-control can be applied to the apparel study. Moreover, this study provides practically significant ideas on compensatory consumption and therefore marketing of luxury brands, based on consumers' characteristics.

  • Nowadays, energy saving has become a hot topic and information and communication technology has become a major power consumer. In long term evolution advanced (LTE-A) networks, heterogeneous deployments of low-power nodes and conventional macrocells provide some new features, such as coverage extension, throughput enhancement, and load balancing. However, a large-scale deployment of low-power nodes brings substantial energy consumption and interference problems. In this paper, we propose a novel switching strategy (NS), which adaptively switches on or off some low-power nodes based on the instantaneous load of the system. It is compatible with the microcells' load balancing feature and can be easily implemented on the basis of existing LTE-A specifications. Moreover, we develop an analytical model for analyzing the performance of system energy consumption, block rate, throughput, and energy efficiency. The performance of NS is evaluated by comparison with existing strategies. Theoretical analysis and simulation results show that NS not only has a low block rate, but also achieves a high energy efficiency.

  • There are so many low power MAC protocols for wireless sensor network. IEEE802.15.4 among them has disadvantage of a large power consumption for synchronization. To save power consumption it use the superframe operation alternating sleep mode and awake mode. But latency is longer result from superframe operation. B-MAC can have shorter latency according to check interval. But transmitter consumes more power because of long preamble. And receiver is suffering from overhearing. In this paper, we use the adaptive check interval scheme[1] of B-MAC for enhancing the power consumption. Its maximum throughput and minimum delay is evaluated by comparing the proposed scheme with a typical single channel IEEE802.15.4.

  • This study conducted a survey and field investigation on the application of the Public Obligation System for new & renewable energy in public buildings, as well as energy consumption of each building according to their uses. The findings are as follows: (1) Since the introduction of the Public Obligation System (until June 30, 2011), there was average 1.4 new & renewable energy facilities established at 1,433 places. Preference for solar energy facilities was the highest at 57.8%. (2) The revised act sets the obligatory supply percentage of new & renewable energy for each public building: it is 9.0% for a tax office, 4.2% for a dong office, 8.2% for a public health center, and 12.6% for a fire station. All the public buildings except for fire stations failed to meet 10% expected energy consumption, a revised standard. (3) Energy consumption of each public building was 120.6TOE for a tax office, 124.3TOE for a dong office, 166.4TOE for a public health center, and 174.6TOE for a fire station. The energy consumption was comprised of 80% electric power, 18% urban gas, and 1% oil. (4) Electric power consumption per person in the room was high at a dong office, and fuel consumption per person in the room was high at a public health center. In addition, electric power consumption per unit space was high at a public health center, and fuel consumption per unit space was high at a fire station. (5) In all the four public buildings, power load had the highest basic unit percentage at average 55%, being followed by heating load (21.2%), cooling load (15%), and water heating load (7%). A tax office and fire station had 2% load due to cooking facilities.

  • With rapid industrialization, electric power consumption has been increasing every year in Korea and in other countries. The provision of additional power stations to produce more electricity is one possible response to this steady increase in consumption. Another alternative is to improve the efficiency of existing stations through timely and effective maintenance works. Since the construction of a new power plant involves a large amount of capital as well as difficulties in the selection of sites, the improvement of existing power stations' efficiencies is often a preferred solution. Therefore, this paper focuses on maintenance project management to address this issue. Among several types of maintenance works, this paper concentrates on planned outage maintenance (POM). This focus arises from the critical impact of POM on other maintenance work, as well as the entire process of electricity production. Unlike other maintenance work, POM is done on the basis of mid and long-term plans. In addition, only POM works are conducted during the outage of all power plants. To evaluate the efficiency of POM works, budget data relating to 164 POM projects between 2001 and 2008 was collected from 7 sites in South Korea. Data envelopment analysis (DEA) was selected as a methodology for evaluation. From this analysis, comparative study was used to determine the categories of projects that had performed well, and those with the most optimized budget structures. Moreover, through discussion with industry, this research develops a feasible proposed method by which to enhance the efficiency of POM projects.

  • In this study, the exergy analysis is conducted on the well known performance of already developed system and then compared with the efficiency of each equipment to propose optimum operation of the system. The system used in this study is 500 MW coal firing power plant. The efficiency of the boiler is 67% and the condenser is 99% by exergy analysis. The exergy consumption of the boiler was 32.95% at 100% load. The exergy consumption of the high pressure turbine and the low pressure turbine is 8.31% and 8.12%, respectively. Together with the concrete study on the object of performance revision of the low efficient development system proved in this study, if detailed exergy analysis on the operation condition of the equipments of the development system presently being operated is continued, then it is expected to help minimize the exergy consumption of relatively low efficient parts that are worn-out or miss-installed.
