Ceramic tiles, which are widely used as interior and exterior materials for construction, have recently been required to have pollution prevention function. In order to remove contaminants, many researches of ceramic tiles with hydrophilic surface property through $TiO_2$ coating and hydrophobic surface property by improving the flow of water droplets have been proceeded. Expecially, it is very important to develop a surface glaze having hydrophobicity through a sintering process above $1000^{\circ}C$ without an additional coating process and the degradation of mechanical properties. In this study, surface glaze with copper powder was applied to manufacture of ceramic tile. Contact angle of ceramic tile according to thickness of surface glaze layer was investigated after the conventional sintering process. The contact angle of the ceramic tile surface without the copper powder was shown to be $25.3^{\circ}$, which is close to hydrophilic surface. However, the contact angle was increased up to $109.8^{\circ}$ when the thickness of surface glaze with the copper powder was $150{\mu}m$. The excellent hydrophobic property of the surface glaze with copper powder was resulted from the cellular structure of copper particles on the glaze surface. In addition, the mechanical properties of the developed hydrophobic ceramic tiles such as bending strength, chemical resistance, abrasion resistance, and frost resistance were well maintained and meet the criteria of 'KS L 1001 Ceramic tile'.
Electrical contact property of the W-20wt%Cu contact materials manufactured by liquid phase sintering of nanocomposite W-Cu powders was investigated and discussed in terms of microstructural development during performance test. Nanocomposite powders were prepared by hydrogen reduction of ball milled W-Cu oxide mixture. They underwent complete densification and microstructural homogenization during liquid phase sintering. As a consequence, the W-Cu contacts produced from nanocomposite powders showed superior contact property of lower arc erosion and stable contact resistance. This might be mostly due to the fact that the arc erosion by evaporation of Cu liquid droplets and surface cracking remarkably became weakened. It is concluded that the improvement of anti-arc erosion of the composite specimen is basically attributed to microstructural homogeneity.

Graphite reinforced conductive polymer composites were fabricated by the compression molding technique. Graphite powder (conductive filler) was mixed with an epoxy resin to impart electrical property in composites. The ratio of graphite powder was varied to investigate electrical property of cured conductive composites. In this study, graphite filled conductive polymer composites with high filler loadings$(>60wt.\%)$ were manufactured to accomplish high electrical conductivity(> 100S/cm). Graphite powder increase electrical conductivity of composites by direct physical contact between particles. While high filler loadings are needed to attain good electrical property, the composites becomes brittle. So the ratio of filler to epoxy was varied to optimize of cured composites. The optimum molding pressure according to filler was proposed experimentally.
The p-type semiconductor $Bi_2Te_3-Sb_2Te_3$ thermoelectric materials were fabricated by melting, milling and sintering process and their thermoelectric properties were characterized. The compound materials were ball-milled with milling time and the powders were sintered by spark plasma sintering process. The ball milled powders had equiaxial shape and approedmately $1\~3{\mu}m$ in size. The figure of meritz of sintered thermoelectric materials decreased with milling time because of lowered electrical resistivity. The thermoelectric properties of $Bi_2Te_3-Sb_2Te_3$ materials have been discussed in terms of electrical property with ball mill process.
The tribological property of ceramics is very important for use in seal rings, pump parts, thread guides and mechanical seal, etc. In the present study, which RBSC/graphite composites were manufactured by adding graphite powders with different particle sizes to mixtures of SiC powder, metallic silicon, carbon black and alumina, effects on the tribological property of each RBSC/graphite composite was investigated in accordance with the particle size of the added graphite powder. The water absorption, the bending strength and the resistance for the friction and wear were measured, and the crystalline phase and the microstructure were respectively examined by using XRD and SEM. In case that the particle size of the graphite powder was fine(2${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$), the formation of $\beta$-SiC was accelerated, thereby making the increase of the bending strength and the decrease of the water absorption, but no improvement for the tribological properties. Furthermore, in case that the particle size of the graphite powder was some large(88~149${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$), the formation of $\beta$-SiC was not accelerated, to thereby make the decrease of the bending strength and the increase of the water absorption, but the improvement for the tribological property of only the composite having the graphite powder of 20 vol%. In addition, in case that the particle size distribution of the graphite powder was large (under 53 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$), there was no improvement for every properties. However, the composites, which the graphite powder with the particle size of 53~88 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ was added in 10~15 vol%, had the most increased resistance for the friction and wear which show the worn out amount of 0.4~0.6$\times$10-3 $\textrm{cm}^2$, and the value of the bending strength is 380~520 kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$.

This study investigated the microstructure and wear resistance property of HPHT(high pressure high temperature) sintered PDC(polycrystalline diamond compact) in accordance with initial molding pressure. After quantifying an identical amount of diamond powder, the powder was inserted in top of WC-Co sintered material, and molded under four different pressure conditions (50, 100, 150, $200kgf/cm^2$). The obtained diamond compact underwent sintering in high pressure, high temperature conditions. In the case of the $50kgf/cm^2$ initial molding pressure condition, cracks were formed on the surface of PDC. On the other hand, PDCs obtained from $100{\sim}200kgf/cm^2$ initial molding pressure conditions showed a meticulous structure. As molding pressure increased, low Co composition within PDC was detected. A wear resistance test was performed on the PDC, and the $200kgf/cm^2$ condition PDC showed the highest wear resistance property.
The purpose of this study is to reach silk protein added in differing amounts to Jeolpyon, Korean traditional rice cake, using rice powder as its primary material, estimation of the micro organism quality, physicochemical property, sensory evaluation and the property of storage period (20${pm} 5 ^{\circ}C$). In the physicochemical property, the content of proximate composition of rice powder was measured as 38.11% of moisture, 56.62% of total sugar, 5.11% of crude protein, 0.52% of crude lipid, 0.25% of ash. And the raw material of silk protein was measured as 6.61% of moisture, 91.22% of crude protein, 6.41% of crude lipid and 0.75% of ash. The pH of raw material for rice powder and silk protein Jeolpyon showed mild acidity as 6.41 and 6.23, respectively. In rice powder and silk protein, total free sugar contents was 0.89% and 0.02%, and total amino acids contents was 4.28% and 52.21 %, respectively. For sensory evaluation. color, taste, softness and adhesiveness were significantly acceptable in control and adding 1 % silk protein. Control and samples added 1$\sim$3% silk protein had high sensory score color in overall acceptance. In conclusion. Jeolpyon can be manufactured with nutritious Jeolpyon by adding silk protein.
Polycrystalline powder of LixNi0.85Co0.15O2 was synthesized by pyrolyzing a powder precursor obtained by the PVA-precursor method. Coin cells of lithium-ion rechargeable battery were assembled, whose the cathodes were fabricated from the crystalline powders of LixNi0.85Co0.15O2 synthesized by the method. The effect of synthetic variation on the property of the cell was tested by carrying out 100 consecutive cycles of charge-dis-charge on the cells. The property of the cell was largely influenced by the pyrolysis conditions applied for the synthesis of the LixNi0.85Co0.15O2. Depending on whether the pyrolysis was carried out in standing air or in the flow of dry air, the discharge capacity and cycle-reversibility of the cell varied in large extent. When the powder precursor was pyrolyzed in standing air, a minor phase of lithium carbonate was remained in the LixNi0.85Co0.15O2. The carbon containing powder precursor had to be pyrolyzed in the flow of dry air to eliminate the minor phase. In the flow of dry air, the lithium carbonate in the precursor was eliminated over 500-700。C without any prominent heat event. By controlling the flow of air over the precursor during its pyrolysis, particle size could also be altered. The effect of flowing dry air, during first step pyrolysis or during second step heat treatment, on the property of the cell was discussed.
Powder metallurgy applied rapid heating to sintering starting year 1900. Since 1970 the study has intensified. Now rapid sintering concepts embrace a spectrum of options ranging from dunk cycles to microwave, induction, exothermic, electric field, and spark approaches. Most of the efforts are targeting reduced microstructure coarsening during sintering, although reduced material decomposition is another common goal. The efforts are impressive for simple shapes and success metrics such a small grain size after densification. Several barriers need to be removed prior to application in powder metallurgy commercial sintering. Rapid heating research needs to focus on significant property gains, accurate product dimensions, and lower costs. So far each property gain obtained with rapid heating is matched by traditional sintering and composition changes. Several examples are cited to show the goals for the next round of innovations.
