한국인 영어 학습자의 수준별 영어 파열음 시구간 신호 지각 연구 (A Perceptual Study of the Temporal Cues for Leveled Groups of Korean English Learners)

  • This study investigates the asymmetry effect between acoustics and perception. The examined cues are closure duration, closure voicing, VOT, release, pre-vowel duration, post-vowel duration. Five native speakers of English and 30 Korean college students participated in the present study. The results showed that high level Korean English learners parallels native speakers in their responses, while mid and low level Korean learners are substantially different from natives.

기관내 삽관 후 발생한 기관식도루의 직접 봉합에 의한 수술적 치료 -3례 보고- (Direct Closure of Post-Incubation Tracheoesophageal Fistulas, -Report of 3 Cases-)

  • 기관내 상관후 발병하는 기관식도루는 희귀하고 치료하기 어려운 질환이다. 본원에서는 3명의 환자에서 4차례의 수술적 치료를 경험하였다. 인공 호흡기로부터 이탈 후 경부를 통해 접근하여 누공을 분리 후 기관 결손은 단순 봉합하고 식도 결손은 2층으로 봉합한 후 근육 피판을 두 봉합선 사이에 위치시킴으로써 재발을 방지하였다. 각각 1례의 지연성 기관협착과 재발성 기관식도루가 발생하였으나 이 또한 성공적으로 치료되었다.

Development of Database and QA Systems for Post Closure Performance Assessment on A Potential HLW Repository

  • In TSPA of long-term post closure radiological safety on permanent disposal of HLW in Korea, appropriate management of input and output data through QA is necessary. The robust QA system is developed using the T2R3 principles applicable for five major steps in R&D's. The proposed system is implemented in the web-based system so that all participants in TSPA are able to access the system. In addition, the internet based input database for TSPA is developed. Currently data from literature surveys, domestic laboratory and field experiments as well as expert elicitation are applied for TSPA.

언어별, 연령별, 수준별 집단에 의한 모음간 영어 파열음 유/무성 인지 연구 (A Perceptual Study on the Temporal Cues of English Intervocalic Plosives for Various Groups Depending on Background Language, English Listening Ability, and Age)

  • In order to understand the various groups' perceptual pattern in both VCV trochee and iambus, this study examined the identification correctness and cue robustness for the unit intervals in light of background language, age, and English listening ability. The 4 groups of Native Speakers of English, Korean College Students of High Listening Achievement, Korean College Students of Low Listening Achievement, and Korean Elementary Students took part in the experiments. Tokens of $/d{\ae}per,\;d{\ae}per,\;d{\ae}per,\;d{\ae}per,\;d{\ae}per,\;d{\ae}per$ in trochee and of $/{\eth}{\partial}\;p{\ae}d,\;{\eth}{\partial}\;b{\ae}d,\;{\eth}{\partial}\;t{\ae}d,\;{\eth}{\partial}\;d{\ae}d,\;{\eth}{\partial}\;k{\ae}d,\;{\eth}{\partial}\;g{\ae}d/$ in iambus were extracted and modified into experimental signals composed of two digits(voiced-1, voiceless-0) by following the temporal intervals, in which the signals consisted of preceding vowel, closure, VOT, and post-vowel. In the first experiment of identification correctness in VCV iambus environment, all groups showed almost 100% correctness rate, while in trochee environment all groups were different(native speaker 87%, college high 74%, college low 70%, elementary 65%). In the second experiment of cue robustness, all groups showed the similar perceptual pattern in both environments. There was the order of robustness cues in VCV trochee: pre-vowel ${\gg}$ closure ${\gg}$ VOT ${\gg}$ post-vowel, while the order in VCV iambus: VOT ${\gg}$ post-vowel ${\gg}$ closure ${\gg}$ pre-vowel. In some condition, however, we found moderately different perceptual pattern depending on language, age and listening level.

Electrical Stimulation Induces the Collagen Deposition and TGF-${\beta}$1 mRNA Expression in Skin Wound of Rat

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of electrical stimulation (ES) on the wound closure rate, collagen deposition, and TGF-${\beta}$1 mRNA expression in skin wound of rat. Methods: Twenty male Sprague-Dawley rats (222~271 g) were randomly divided into ES (n=10) and control group (n=10). The ES group received a cathodal stimulation with 50 V at 100 pps for 30 minutes for 7 days, while the control group was not given electrical stimulation. The wound closure rate, collagen density and TGF-${\beta}$1 mRNA ratio were measured. Results: The mean wound closure rates in the ES and control groups were $83.79{\pm}16.35$% and $51.57{\pm}17.76$%, respectively (p<0.001). The collagen density in the ES and control groups were $46.67{\pm}10.68$% and $25.03{\pm}13.09$%, respectively (p<0.001). The TGF-${\beta}$1 mRNA ratio in the ES and control groups were $1.35{\pm}0.60$ and $0.63{\pm}0.30$, respectively at 6 hours post-wound (p<0.01) and $1.69{\pm}0.47$ and $1.32{\pm}0.28$, respectively, at 7 days post-wound (p<0.05). Conclusions: ES accelerated the wound closure rate of skin incision wounds and was accompanied by an increase in collagen deposition in the regenerating dermis. In addition, ES increased TGF-${\beta}$1 mRNA expression during wound healing process. These findings suggest that ES may activate TGF-${\beta}$1 expression, and may increase synthesis activities of fibroblasts in regenerating skin wounds in rats.

월성원자력환경관리센터 폐쇄 후 안전평가 컴퓨터프로그램의 콘크리트 열화현상에 대한 상호비교 (Concrete Degradation Comparison of Computer Programs for Post-Closure Safety Assessment of Wolsong Low-and Intermediate-Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Facility)

  • 우리나라 중저준위 방사성폐기물 최종 처분시설인 월성원자력환경관리센터의 폐쇄 후 안전평가 컴퓨터 프로그램의 신뢰성 확보를 위해 MASCOT와 검증프로그램으로 SAFE-ROCK와 GOLDSIM을 선정하여 정상시나리오에 대하여 안전평가를 수행하였다. 각 프로그램의 장단점을 비교/분석하였으며, 각 프로그램 별 구획 간의 선량 및 누출량을 평가하였다. 그 중 방사성핵종 $^{129}I$$^3H$가 MASCOT와 SAFE-ROCK 프로그램에서는 비슷한 경향을 보여주었지만, GOLDSIM 프로그램에서는 상이한 결과를 나타냈다. 이는 각 프로그램의 근계지역 내 핵종이동방정식의 해석과정의 차이와 개별 프로그램의 한계로 인해 다른 결과값을 보여주는 것으로 분석되었다. GOLDSIM 프로그램의 경우, 선원항 구획에서 초기 핵종누출량은 time-scale에 민감하게 반응한다는 사실도 확인할 수 있었다. 안전평가 프로그램은 처분환경에서 발생하는 핵종거동 및 이동에 대한 실제현상을 예측하기 위해 모델링을 거치지만, 전산프로그램의 특성과 실제현상에 대한 데이터가 제한적이므로 결과에 차이가 발생하게 된다. 이러한 차이점은 다양한 프로그램을 이용한 결과와 상호비교를 통해 알아내며 그 원인을 지속적으로 분석하는 연구개발과정을 필요로 하고 있다.

Endovascular Treatment of Congenital Portosystemic Shunt: A Single-Center Prospective Study

  • Purpose: To design a prospective study on endovascular closure of congenital portosystemic shunts. The primary endpoint was to assess the safety of endovascular closure. The secondary endpoint was to evaluate the clinical, analytical and imaging outcomes of treatment. Methods: Fifteen patients (age range: 2 days to 21 years; 10 male) were referred to our center due to congenital portosystemic shunts. The following data were collected prior to treatment: age, sex, medical history, clinical and analytical data, urine trimethylaminuria, abdominal-US, and body-CT. The following data were collected at the time of intervention: anatomical and hemodynamic characteristics of the shunts, device used, and closure success. The following data were collected at various post-intervention time points: during hospital stay (to confirm shunt closure and detect complications) and at one year after (for clinical, analytical, and imaging purposes). Results: The treatment was successful in 12 participants, migration of the device was observed in two, while acute splanchnic thrombosis was observed in one. Off-label devices were used in attempting to close the side-to-side shunts, and success was achieved using Amplatzer™ Ductus-Occluder and Amplatzer™ Muscular-Vascular-Septal-Defect-Occluder. The main changes were: increased prothrombin activity (p=0.043); decreased AST, ALT, GGT, and bilirubin (p=0.007, p=0.056, p=0.036, p=0.013); thrombocytopenia resolution (p=0.131); expansion of portal veins (p=0.005); normalization of Doppler portal flow (100%); regression of liver nodules (p=0.001); ammonia normalization (p=0.003); and disappearance of trimethylaminuria (p=0.285). Conclusion: Endovascular closure is effective. Our results support the indication of endovascular closure for side-to-side shunts and for cases of congenital absence of portal vein.

방사성폐기물 처분장 부지감시 계획 (Site Monitoring and investigation plan for LILW disposal)

  • 부지감시 및 조사의 목적은 운영 전, 운영중 및 폐쇄 후 단계에서 변화가 예상되는 주요 부지특성을 지속적으로 감시함으로써 방사성폐기물처분장의 성능평가 및 설계에 필요한 기초자료를 제공하는 것이다. 부지감시의 단계별 주요내용은 다음과 같다. 운영전 단계에는 부지의 적합성 평가 및 처분장 건설과 운영에 필요한 주요 부지특성을 감시하며, 운영 중 단계에는 안전하고 효율적인 운영과 환경에 미치는 영향을 판단하기 위하여 주변지역을 포함하여 주요 부지특성을 감시한다. 폐쇄 후 단계에는 처분장의 방사성 물질로 인한 영향을 사전에 예방하고, 처분장의 장기적 안전성을 위하여 필요한 주요 부지특성 항목을 감시한다.
