The main purpose of this study was to clarify the validity with patient's general background of Korean Pain Measurement tool. The subjects of this study were 195 patient from the 8 Med-Surgical wards in H. University Hospital in Seoul. The study was conducted over a 40 day period from Oct. 5, 1985 to Nov. 15, 1985. All patients had pain. Korean Pain Measurement tool and simple discriptive pain scale as Graphic Rating Scale were used to measure the pain, The Pearson Correlation Coefficient test was exercised to measure the correlation between the two kinds of pain tools. To clarify the Sensitivity of Korean Pain tool was used frequency with patient's response. To compare the difference in Pain levels with patient's general background, ANOVA and t-test was employed. To compare the difference in pain levels existed due to pain area of the body used mean numbers. The outcome of the study was as follows : 1. A positive correlation did exist between two pain measurement tools. (r=.2028∼.7768, p <0.002) 2. The sensitive subclass in Korean Pain Measurement tools was 7 subclass. The 7 subclass are inflammatory repeated pain, simple stimulating, traction pressure, dull pain, cavity pain, digestion related pain, suffering. related pain. 3. The existence of levels of pain in accordance with patient's general background, the department of hospital, pain area of the body and school age was supported. Age, sex, religion, marrital status, economic status, acute or chronic status was not supported. 4. The existence of higher pain levels of the body area was anus, chest, and lower pain levels of the body area was eye, ear, nose and throat. Based on the above results, it was found that sensitive subclasses of the Korean Pain Measurement tool was 7 subclass among all of 20 subclass. Thus it can be concluded that Korean Pain Mea-surement tool when partialy used and supplemented, can be an effective tool of pain measurement for the patient in Korea.
Reducing women's bone mineral density (BMD) has close relationship to risk in osteoporosis. This study was carried out to identify bone density risk factors affecting women's BMD, and to analyze the relationship of age, between BMD and menopause, BMI, blood pressure lifestyle and dietary habits for bone health by physical measurement and questionnaires. The study subjects, 128 women living in Seoul, were divided into 4 age group; 30~39 years (17), 40~49 years (54) and 50~59 years (36) and 60~69 years (21). There were significant differences in mean height, BMI, systolic blood pressure, menache and menopause age and menopause ratio and BMD T-score among the 4 age groups. BHD was significantly decreased according to increasing age and BMI and menopause. The rate of BMD risk subjects was significantly different increasing with age and BMI. The rate of risk group were 0%, 13%, 22.2% and 71.4%, by age groups and 0%, 16.2%, 33.3% and 52.9% by BMI respectively. BMD of menopause groups was significantly decreased from 1.23 (40 years) to 1.34 (60 years). p < 0.001. Also systolic blood pressure were significantly increased from 116.5 mmHg (30 years) to 130.81 mmHg (60 years). The T-score of normal group also decreased significantly from 1.27 to 0.13 (60years) with age. There were significant negative correlation between BMD and age (r = -0.409) menopause (r = -0.346), BMI (r = -0.218) systolic blood pressure (r = -0.193), salty taste eating out (r = -0.185) (p < 0.05). There were significant positive correlation between BMD and meat fish and walking time. In conclusion, bone density decreased with age. Most of the 50 years' subjects were in risk group. BMI, menopause, systolic blood pressure, frequency alcohol consuming. To prevent osteoporosis, over 40 years needed to be educated to maintain normal weight and the improvement of eating and living habits.
This case study was conducted to determine the effects of water exercise on the foot pressure distribution (FPD) of persons who have a hemiplegia. A 43-year old female with hemiplegia acquired at the age of 3 years was selected from a local disability program. A 12-week water exercise program (60 min. per session and twice a week) focusing on gait training was developed and implemented as the intervention of this study. A recent product of the Pedar-X (Novel, Germany) was used to measure the FPD of hemiplegic gait before and after the intervention. Variables considered in this study included the average pressure (AP), contact area (CA), maximum pressure (MP), ground reaction force (GRF), and center of pressure (COP). The data collected were analyzed via the descriptive statistics and qualitative analyses on the graphical presentations of the FPD. Results revealed that the AP and CA of the hemiplegic foot was considerably increased before and after the intervention. Similar results were also found in the MP and GRF. Additionally, the graphical route of the COP related to hemiplegic foot was changed in a positive way after the intervention. It can be concluded that water exercise may be beneficial to restore hemiplegic gait. Limitations related to measurement and generalizability are further discussed.
The aim of this paper is to design and evaluate a high concentration, high penetration unipolar corona ionizer. The electrostatic characteristics in terms of voltage-current relationships of the present ionizer in the discharge zones for positive and negative coronas were discussed. Using ion current measurement, the concentration and penetration of ions were evaluated at corona voltages across the needle electrodes between 1 and 4 kV, flow rates between 1 and 5 L/min, and an operating pressure of 1 atm. In the discharge zone of the ionizer, the highest ion concentrations were found to be about $1.71{\times}10^{14}$ and $5.09{\times}10^{14}\;ions/m^3$ for positive and negative coronas, respectively. At the outlet of the ionizer, it was found that the highest ion concentration was about $1.95{\times}10^{13}$ and $1.91{\times}10^{13}\;ions/m^3$ for positive and negative coronas, respectively. The highest ion penetration for positive and negative coronas through the ionizer was found to be about 98 % and 33 %, respectively. The $N_it$ product for positive and negative coronas was also found to $1.28{\times}10^{13}$ and $7.43{\times}10^{13}\;ions/m^3s$, respectively. From the findings, this ionizer proved to be particularly useful as an aerosol charger for positive and negative charge before the detector in an electrical aerosol detector.

A great deal of research has been done in the field of characterization for piezoelectric thin films after the first report on the measurement for the piezoelectric coefficient of thin films in 1990. The main idea of this research is to provide a distinctive solution for the measurement and standardization of both the longitudinal and the transverse piezoelectric d-coefficients, d33 and d31, of ferroelectric thin films. In general, to get these two coefficients of thin films, two different measuring systems are required. Here, we propose the improved method for the evaluation of these two coefficients with single equipment and with the relatively convenient procedure. The two-step loading process of applying the both positive and the negative pressure has been introduced to acquire the piezoelectric coefficients. These results have been calibrated for both the longitudinal and 4he transverse piezoelectric d-coefficients, d33 and 431, of thin films by comparison with the virtual standard created from FEM. In this experiments, we have obtained d33 of 331pC/N and 031 of -92.2pC/N for the PZT thin films.

The main idea of this research is to provide a distinctive solution for the measurement of both the longitudinal and the transverse piezoelectric d-coefficients, d$\sub$33/ and d$\sub$3l/, of ferroelectric thin films and also thick films. In general, to get these two coefficients of thin films, two different measuring systems are required. Here, we propose the improved method for the evaluation of these two coefficients with single equipment and with the relatively convenient procedure. The two-step loading process of applying the both positive and the negative pressure has been designed to acquire the piezoelectric coefficients. These results have beer calibrated for both the longitudinal and the transverse piezoelectric d-coefficients, d$\sub$33/ and d$\sub$31/, of thin films. In the first stage of the experiments, we have obtained d$\sub$33/ of 108pC/N and d$\sub$31/ of 57pC/N for the PZT thin films.

With a diode corona charger, which is a component of ELPI(Electrical Low Pressure Impactor), aerosol particles are charged to make electrical detection possible before they are collected by the impactor. We designed and evaluated two cylindrical corona chargers, each of which had a central corona needle electrode. For the performance evaluation of each corona charger the polydisperse dioctyl sebacate(DOS) particles, with diameters of 0.1∼0.8 $\mu$m and NaCl particles, smaller than 0.1$\mu$m, were used. The particles were then led through an electrostatic classifier (TSI model 3081) to classify monodisperse aerosol with minimal size deviation. After evaluating the wall loss of the particles in the corona charger, we measured the product of penetration and number of charges, Pㆍn, to evaluate the corona charger efficiency at high positive voltages of 4, 5, 6 kV.

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between trunk control and pulmonary function and respiratory muscle strength in stroke patients. Methods: This study included 30 patients who had been clinically diagnosed with strokes, and trunk control abilities were measured using the trunk impairment scale (TIS). The subjects were classified into a group with high trunk control ability (TIS score ${\geq}20$) and a group with low trunk control ability (TIS score < 20). The patients' forced vital capacity (FVC), forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1), peak expiratory flow (PEF), maximal inspiratory pressure (MIP), and maximal expiratory pressure (MEP) were measured. To compare the pulmonary function and respiratory muscle strength between the two groups, the measurement data were analyzed using an independent T-test, and the relationship between TIS and respiratory function was analyzed using a Pearson correlation. Results: The high trunk control ability group had significantly higher pulmonary function and respiratory muscle strength than the low trunk control ability group. Significant positive correlations were found between trunk control and FVC, FEV1, PEF, MIP, and MEP. Conclusions: This study demonstrated that trunk control affects pulmonary function and respiratory muscle strength in stroke patients.

This study examines the environmental performance of firms in Vietnam and its determinants. The contribution of the paper is on both theoretical and empirical aspects. On the theoretical matter, the research proposes a new index measuring environmental management at the firm level, namely the Environmental Management Index with a clear illustration for the case of Vietnam. On the empirical matter, the study points out and estimates determinants of the corporate environmental performance of Vietnamese firms measured by the newly proposed index. Due to data availability and the impossibility of getting more updated data, the empirical analysis covers only the period from 2004-2009. However, findings are still meaningful because, on the one hand, it provides some evidence for Vietnamese policymakers; on the other hand, with the robust methodology proposed, when more recent data are available, researchers can easily replicate the estimation for more insights. Empirical results show that factors having positive impacts on the environmental performance of Vietnamese firms are profit, capital stock, and interestingly public pressure proxied by the population of the province where the firm is located. Firm ownership does also matter in explaining the corporate environmental performance of Vietnam.
The purpose of this study was to verify the effects of the developed exercise prescription program by utilizing PRECEDE(Predisposing, Reinforcing, and Enabling Causes in Educational Diagnosis and Evaluation} model on adult's knowledge related to health, attitudes, behaviors and serum lipoprotein values. This study employed 20 males(40-47 yrs) without any apparent physical defects, who did not experience such physical activities. They were divided into experimental groups and control groups, each group consisted of 10 subjects who performed Jogging. The experimental design of the study utilized “two-way ANOVA Design” conducted by the repeated measurement two time(pre and post-test). As the results of the data, the conclusions were as follows: 1. There were statistically significant effects of the health module exposed to the experimental groups on the higher means of knowledge score in the experimental groups than those in the control groups. 2. There were statistically significant effects of the module exposed to the experimental groups on the positive changes of their attitudes. 3. There were significant changes on the behaviors of the health by doing the health program. Therefore the developed health program formed the improved knowledge about the health and the desirable attitudes and behaviors. 4. There were statistically significant effects of the exercise prescription program exposed to the experimental groups on the reduction of the resting heart rate and systolic blood pressure. 5. There were statistically significant effects of the exercise prescription program exposed to the experimental groups on the positive changes of their plasma TC / HDL-C ratio and triglycerides.
