  • In the UAVs, the position error of the inertial navigation system is constantly increased when global positioning system goes wrong due to interference. It makes impossible to ensure mission and flight safety. If the data-link system provide the position of the UAV for inertial navigation system periodically, then the UAV may operate normally under malfunction of the global positioning system. In this paper, we introduce an algorithm for estimating the position of the UAV using the monopulse tracking and distance measurement of the line-of-sight data-link system. Also, we propose a method to improve the performance of position estimation. And we assured ourselves that this method can be applied in the UAVs.

  • Image Mosaicing creates a new image by composing video frames or still images that are related, and performed by arrangement, composition and redundancy analysis of images. This paper proposes a hierarchical image mosaicing system using camera and object parameters far efficient video database construction. A tree-based image mosiacing has implemented for high-speed computation time and for construction of static and dynamic image mosaic. Camera parameters are measured by using least sum of squared difference and affine model. Dynamic object detection algorithm has proposed for extracting dynamic objects. For object extraction, difference image, macro block, region splitting and 4-split detection methods are proposed and used. Also, a dynamic positioning method is used for presenting dynamic objects and a blurring method is used for creating flexible mosaic image.

  • In this paper, we propose networked airborne relay-based positioning scheme (N-ARPS) based on time division multiple access (TDMA) networks to improve the performance of relative navigation (RelNav). To integrate the ARPS into TDMA, there are three problems such as slot allocation, selection of airborne relays, and method for signal loss to be solved. A subframe of N-ARPS is designed to assign the slots for broadcast and relay of navigation signals consecutively to minimize the effect of mobility. The selection algorithm determines the optimum set of airborne relays by selecting evenly distributed nodes depending on their distances to the master station. Finally, we uses precise position location information (PPLI) messages, which are received in data transmission period, to estimate a user position when the navigation signals are missing. The simulation results indicate that N-ARPS significantly improves user accuracy over RelNav.

  • In this paper, the trend of evacuation path providing or guidance systems for safety on disaster situation is analyzed. For trend analysis, 31 papers of domestic and international, 29 patents of domestic, and the finished 9 national funded projects, which have been performed for recent 15 years are analysed. As the results of analysis, the previous researches were performed in the view of the guidance systems, but there is no study that can be used for peoples in dangerous situation until now. Also it has technical limitations in using indoor positioning technology for peoples. In this paper, therefore, we propose to use the indoor positioning technology for developing a novel evacuation guidance system for peoples in dangerous situation. It can be utilized to develop a novel evacuation guidance system which is considered indoor disaster situations.

  • It is generally important to get a precise position information for autonomous unmanned vehicle(AUV) to run safely. For getting the position of AUV, the GPS has been using to navigation in a vehicle. Though it is useful to finding a position, it is difficult to precisely control a trajectory of the AUV due to large measuring error which may reach over 10 meters. Therefore to apply AUV it needs to compensate for the error. This paper proposes a method to more precisely localize AUV using three low-cost differential global positioning systems (DGPS). The distance errors between each DGPS are minimized as using the least square method (LSM) and the Kalman filter to eliminate a Gaussian white noise. The selected DGPS is cheaper and easier to set up than the RTK-GPS. It is also more precise than the general GPS. The proposed method can compensate the relatively position error according to stationary and moving distance of the AUV. For evaluating the algorithm by simulation, the DGPS signal with the Gaussian white noise to any points is generated by the AR model and compared with the measurement signal. It is confirmed that the proposed method can effectively compensate the position error as comparing with the measurement signal. The compensated position signal can be used to localize and control the AUV in the road.

  • Automation of observation and positioning of fiducial marks is made possible with the application of image matching technique, developed through the cooperative research effort of computer vision and digital photogrammetry. The major problem in such automation effort is to minimize the computing time and to increase the positional accuracy. Except for scanning and ground control surveying, the interior orientation process was automated in this study, through the development of an algorithm which applies the image matching and image processing techniques. The developed system was applied to close-range photogrammetry and the analysis of the results showed 54% improvement in processing time. For fiducial mark observation during interior orientation, the Laplacian of Gaussian transformation and the Hough transformation were applied to determine the accurate position of the center point, and the correlation matching and the least squares matching method were then applied to improve the accuracy of automated observation of fiducial marks. Image pyramid concept was applied to reduce the computing time of automated positioning of fiducial mark.

  • With emerging technologies on wireless networks and mobile computing environment, a number of researches have been carried out for ubiquitous computing. An important functional requirement of ubiquitous computing is to handle location data with ease. With the increase of accidents in large complex buildings. move attention is being paid to indoor spaces and evacuation. However, most currently used evacuation-related applications are simulation based on hypothetical data. Also, since they use non-georeferenced CAD data, it is not easy to integrate them with indoor positioning devices. With the recent progress of indoor positioning systems, the simulators can be enhanced to real-time evacuation systems. As a preliminary stage to make such systems possible, this study proposes using a georeferenced data and evacuation simulation. This study used GIS data and Cellular Automata theory an the algorithm for the movement of the evacuee.

  • Astronomical positioning has been carried out from the past by using Sextant. The St. Hilaire method was mainly used by Nautical Almanac and Sight Reduction Tables For Marine Navigation. In modern times, it has been able to use the LOP(Line of Position) method smoothly by combining with IT technology. However, in comparison with the past method, the LOP method always shows two positions, True Position and False Position, which must be distinguished by the navigator. Therefore, in this paper, we proposed a method of using the azimuth to remove the false position generated by the LOP method. In particular, the theoretical considerations using azimuth are presented in various ways, and the validity of the theoretical considerations is confirmed. Simulations are presented to confirm that the theoretical basis of the thesis is valid.

  • GPS (global positioning system) is a popular system that provides location information by measuring arrival time difference at the receiver between several GPS satellite signals. GPS is widely used in commercial area as well as military systems. Reliable GPS signal reception is more important in the military systems. However, since the carrier frequencies of the GPS signals are well known, the GPS receivers are vulnerable to intentional jamming attacks. To remove jammers but maintain GPS signals at the received signals, a popular technique is an adaptive beam steering method based on array antenna. Among adaptive beam steering techniques, this paper considers MVDR (minimum variance distortionless response) algorithm, and proposes a new adaptive technique that preserves the received signals at desired direction, but removes the jamming signals adaptively. The performance of the proposed method is verified through computer simulation.

  • Magnetic sensors have the disadvantage that their vector values differ depending on the direction. In this paper, we propose a magnetic vector calibration method for geomagnetic-based indoor localization estimates. The fingerprinting technique used in geomagnetic-based indoor localization the position by matching the magnetic field map and the magnetic sensor value. However, since the moving direction of the current user may be different from the moving direction of the person who creates the magnetic field map at the collection time, the sampled magnetic vector may have different values from the vector values recorded in the field map. This may substantially lower the positioning accuracy. To avoid this problem, the existing studies use only the magnitude of magnetic vector, but this reduces the uniqueness of the fingerprint, which may also degrade the positioning accuracy. In this paper we propose a vector calibration algorithm which can adjust the sampled magnetic vector values to the vector direction of the magnetic field map by using the parametric equation of a circle. This can minimize the inaccuracy caused by the direction mismatch.
