자기부상 시스템을 이용한 임의의 금속구 부상을 위한 디지털제어기 설계 (Design of Digital Controller for the Levitation of Variable Steel Balls by using Magnetic Levitation System)

  • Magnetic Levitation System(MLS) levitates a steel ball to the desired position in the gravity field using electromagnetic force. MLS consists of light sensor to measure the position of steel ball and an electromagnet to control the position of the ball, that composes a feedback control system. This work does not use a steel ball with constant mass but variable mass steel balls as magnetic levitation targets. Differential equation of electric circuit for electromagnet and motion equation of the movement of steel ball are derived for modeling nonlinear system, that will be linearized at the nominal operating point. We propose a digital control that can levitate a steel ball of which weight is not known for ED-4810 system. Algorithm for estimating ball weight and feedback control are implemented in digital scheme under pentium PC equiped with A/D and D/A converter, ACL-8112, using C-language. Simulation and experimental results are given to show the usefulness of the proposed controller.

Design of Smart flap actuators for swept shock wave/turbulent boundary layer interaction control

  • Piezoelectric actuators have long been recognised for use in aerospace structures for control of structural shape. This paper looks at active control of the swept shock wave/turbulent boundary layer interaction using smart flap actuators. The actuators are manufactured by bonding piezoelectric material to an inert substrate to control the bleed/suction rate through a plenum chamber. The cavity provides communication of signals across the shock, allowing rapid thickening of the boundary layer approaching the shock, which splits into a series of weaker shocks forming a lambda shock foot, reducing wave drag. Active control allows optimum control of the interaction, as it would be capable of positioning the control region around the original shock position and unimorph tip deflection, hence mass transfer rates. The actuators are modelled using classical composite material mechanics theory, as well as a finite element-modelling program (ANSYS 5.7).

  • In general mechanical servo systems, friction deteriorates the performance of controllers by its nonlinear characteristics. Especially, friction phenomenon causes steady-state tracking errors and limit cycles in position and velocity control systems, even though gains of controllers are tuned well in linear system model. Even if sensor is used higher accuracy level, it is difficult to improve tracking performance of the position to the same level with a general control method such as PID type. Therefore, many friction models were proposed and compensation methods have been researched actively. In this paper, we consider that the variation of mover's mass is various by loading and unloading. The normal force variation occurs by it and other parameters. Therefore, the proposed control system is composed of main position controller and a friction compensator. A parameter estimator for a nonlinear friction model is designed by adaptive control law and adaptive backstopping control method.

촉각장치 구동용 고속제어기 (High Speed Controller for Haptic System)

  • In this paper We have developed the high-speed controller for haptic control. The proposed controller is based on the PCI/FPGA technology which can calculate the real position and transmit the force data to device rapidly. The haptic system is composed of 6DOF force display device high-speed controller. The developed system will be used on constructing the dynamical virtual environment. To show the efficiency of our system we designed simulation program of force-reflecting. As the result of the experiment we found that the controller has much higher resolution than some other controller It is so efficient in a 1 PC-based system with 1[kHz] haptic interrupt cycle.

  • In this paper, we propose a new approach to determination of environment forces acting on a rigid body. To estimate the output of disturbance observer due to internal torque, the disturbance observer output estimator using functional link neural network (FLANN) is designed. It is also shown by simulation results that the precise estimation of contact force is achieved for a 2-link SCARA robot performing position/force control.

  • A simple fault correction method for rotor position detection of a brushless DC(BLDC) motor with trapezoidal back EMF(electromotive force) using a Hall effect latch unit is presented. The reason why the Hall effect latch unit does not operate properly during the startup of a BLDC motor is thoroughly explained. To solve this problem, a simple code change method and its hardware implementation issues are proposed and discussed.

  • Increasing the density magnetic recording of a hard disk drive needs to improve position control of a slider. We have troubles analyzing position of a slider by nonlinear property of pivot ball bearing. Many researches analyze a hard disk drive to change pivot ball bearing part from balls to springs. Pivot ball bearing operates by rotation and movement of balls. This study considers Hertzian contact force when balls contact with outer race to analyze nonlinear movement of a ball bearing. Experiment of this study measures movement of a circular center of a pivot ball bearing. We also verify the simulation results and the experiment results.

  • The unbalance exciting force induced by HDD of lately getting higher speed is directly influenced by the rotational speed and the mechanical assembly allowance between disk and spindle motor, and which gives rise to the structure borne noise of the personal computer. The absolute unbalance mass of HDD needs to be measured and adjusted by the counter mass to control the unbalance exciting force effectively in the stage of assembling the disk and spindle motor. This study introduces the measurement methods of the magnitude of the absolute unbalance mass and the position of HDD by 2 accelerometers. The absolute unbalance mass can be obtained by the acceleration responses and the mobility of the mechanical part, while the position of the unbalance mass can e obtained by the rotation acceleration orbit.

  • This paper describes the position accuracy performance improvement of hybrid type LPM. The harmonics are included in the thrust force component of LPM, those are generated from the the nonlinearity of intrinsic magnetic saturation characteristic and mechanical construction, and so on. In this paper, the performance improvable methode is proposed for the better thrust force by the corrected exciting current injection, and precise position control is achieved.
