  • In this study, we prepared pelletized porous carbon adsorbent (PCA) according to the different pyrolysis temperature using activated carbon and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) as a binder for the removal of toluene, which is one of the representative volatile organic compounds (VOCs). We investigated physical characteristics of PCA using FE-SEM, BET, TGA and evaluated their adsorption capacity for toluene using GC. It was confirmed that the formability of pellets composed of the activated carbon, PVA and solvent of mass mixing ratio was 1 : 0.2 : 0.8 was the most outstanding. Toluene adsorption capacity was evaluated by measuring the maximum time when more than 99% of toluene adsorbed on the pellet. The specific surface area of the adsorbent pyrolyzed at $300^{\circ}C$ was measured as 4.7 times in $941.9m^2/g$ compared to that of the unpyrolyzed pellet. Micropore volume and toluene adsorption capacity of PCA increased fivefold to be 0.30 cc/g and thirteenfold to be 26 hours compared to that of the unpyrolyzed pellet, respectively. These results were attributed to the change of pore size and specific surface area due to the PVA content and the different pyrolysis temperature.

  • This paper has presented a new foaming technology of selective hybrid-structured polymer film with expanded pores. The porous structure of closed pore was firstly fabricated by applying the 355nm UV-pulsed laser to 0.1mm thick film that was uniformly mixed with PP pellets, copper powder, and CBA (Chemical Blowing Agent). In order to expand pore size of closed-cell shape, LAMO(Laser Aided Micro pore Opening) processing was conducted to heat the copper powder, and then the bigger pore size of closed-cell more than existing pore size was successfully formed because of rapid conduction of heated metal powder. From the experimental results, various process parameters such as laser fluence, intensity, scan rate, spot size and density of powder and CBA were considerably considered to reveal the correlation among the pore characteristics. In the future, a function experiment will be carried out to use the hybrid film of industrial applications.

  • In this study, physical property evaluation and physical separation of the target product were performed to investigate the possibility of using sewage sludge gasification solid residue (GSRs) as a circulating resource. Firstly, the GSRs used in this study was supplied by Sudokwon Landfill Management Corporation, and generally the GSRs was in the form of porous pellets with a particle size of several millimetres. In addition, the partially black areas were confirmed to be unburned and ungasified carbon, and the average carbon content was 5%. In addition, the content of silica, alumina and phosphorus oxide was more than 70% of the total content. It was confirmed that the metallic components of the wet grinding product were separated into individual elements. As a physical separation of metallic and non-metallic components was required, it was finally found that flotation screening was suitable. Accordingly, cationic and anionic surfactants were selected to separate metallic components in which a relatively large amount of non-metallic components were concentrated, and the separation characteristics were confirmed. As a result, it is expected that the concentration of non-metallic components such as silica, alumina and phosphorus will be easier than the separation of metallic components. Therefore, since it is possible to physically treat the gasified sludge residue, it is judged to have potential as a circular resource according to the proposed recycling method for the separated product.
