  • This study is to analyze the influence of paste flow, compaction time and compaction thickness on the fundamental properties of porous concrete. Results of this study were shown as follows; 1) As paste flow increase, compaction time according to paste flow and compaction thickness decrease. Also, though paste flow is same, as compaction thickness increase, compaction time Increase. So It must be considered that the influence of compaction time according to paste flow and compaction thickness. 2) In the range of this study, compressive strength is the highest value at paste flow 190mm. 3) Occasion of manufactured compactor in this study compaction thickness 10, 15cm is influenced heavily but compaction thickness 20cm is influenced slightly.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze void ratio, coefficient of water permeability, and strength characteristics when silica fume and carbon fibers were added in order to improve the strength of porous concrete, and when recycled aggregates were used. Comparing with the case that recycled aggregate was not used, as the replacement ratio of recycled aggregate increased, the differences in void ratios and strength characteristics were decreased. In the case that silica fume was used, the content of 10% silica fume was most effective in improving strength. In the case that carbon fibers were used, the content of 3% carbon fiber were good to achieve the highest flexural strength, and Pan-derived CF was much better than pitch-derived CF in improving these effects.

  • In order to offer the condition of plant survival, present the method to reduce pH of porous concrete. Water curing is the most suitable method for reducing pH. Water/cement ratio is lower pH in $25\%$ than $30\%$, and to reduce pH, the larger size of coarse aggregate is more proper in the same water/cement ratio, neutralization management after becoming solid than early.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate properties of porous concrete according to rheological properties of binder and compaction factor. The results of this study, the rheological property of binder is stabilized when a mixing time is over 240 seconds in case of target flow values are $175\%\;and\;200\%$. The void ratio of specimen has a very near value by target void ratio on the whole according as the rheological properties of binder and compaction energy are changed when target flow value is $200\%$, compaction energy is $75kN{\cdot}m/m^2$. The specimen has the excellent compressive strength when compaction energy and target flow value are $100kN{\cdot}m/m^2$ and $200\%$ respectively.

  • The objective of this study was to investigate the influence the influence of theoretical void ratio(T.V.R), grading of aggregate and curing method on the strength and water permeability of porous concrete, and the reduction proportion of water permeability by these factors. The results of the study showed that its strength and water permeability were greatly depended on the T.V.R and grading of aggregate, but didn't on the curing method. And, when the T.V.R and grading of aggregate were increased, the reduction proportion of water permeability was small. As the relation ship between its physical properties and non-destruction test values was very high, its use for the estimation of the physical properties will be useful.

  • The results of an experiment on the sea water purification of the porous concrete using granular artificial zoelite and its influence on the physical and mechanical properties are reported in this paper. Two different sizes of coarse aggregate of 5$\∼$13, 13$\∼$20mm, and three of void ratio(15, 20 and 30 percent) for a given size of aggregate were used. In the water permeability, an aggregate of the size of 13$\∼$20mm is much higher than that of the 13$\∼$20mm, but the water permeability is smaller in the less design void ratio. and In the compressive strength, an aggregate of the size of 5$\∼$13mm is much higher strength than that of the 13$\∼$20mm, but the compressive strength is higher in the less design void ratio.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate properties of porous concrete according to volume of binder and compaction energy. The result of this study, as compaction energy goes on increasing, the actual measured void ratio is decreased according as a change of compaction energy and volume of binder. The compaction energy has a very near value by target void ratio on the whole when it is $50kN{\cdot}m/m^2,\;50\~75kN{\cdot}m/m^2$ in case of target void ratio is $15\%\;and\;25\%$. As compaction energy goes on increasing, compressive strength of specimens picked up when target void ratio is $20\%\;and\;25\%$. Also, compressive strength of specimens bluntly picked up when compaction energy is over $50\~75kN{\cdot}m/m^2$.

  • Existing porous concrete has problems with reduction of strength due to freezing and thawing and exfoliation of aggregate at joints. In this study, a method for increasing strength and durability of porous concrete by using fine aggregate, silica-fume and high-range water-reducing agent was proposed by laboratory tests. Mixing ratio between silica-fume (10%) and fine aggregate (0%, 7%, 15%) was selected as a major test factor, and laboratory tests for compressive strength, flexural strength, permeability coefficient, porosity, freezing and thawing were conducted. Compressive strength and flexural strength were increased as the mixing ratio of fine aggregate was increased. However, permeability and freezing-thawing resistance were decreased due to reduction of porosity. Therefore, the ratio of fine aggregate should be limited to increase strength and durability of the porous concrete, while the mixing ratio of silica-fume should be over 10%.

  • In this paper, a series of laboratory chamber tests were carried out to evaluate the applicability of a porous concrete pile fabricated with recycled aggregates (RAPP) for the soft ground improvement. While performing the laboratory chamber tests for the RAPP, the surface settlement, excess pore pressure and vertical stress distribution with time were compared with those of SCP provided by You (2003) under the same experimental condition. In addition, the experimental results were compared with the numerical simulation using ABAQUS in this study. The results show that the settlement reduction is significantly enhanced due to the stress-sharing mechanism between the RAPP and soil formation by stress concentration on the RAPP. Furthermore, the comparison of consolidation rate shows that the RAPP can accelerate consolidation as well, which behaves as a vertical drain.
