저가 탄소섬유를 이용한 악취제거 기술 개발 (The Preparation of Low Cost Activated Carbon Fibers for Removal of Volatile Organic Chemicals and Odor)

  • 본 연구에서는 PAN계 안정화섬유를 원료로 하여 수증기를 이용한 물리적 활성화에 의해 여러 등급의 활성탄소섬유를 제조하고, 비표면적, 요오드 흡착량, 미세구조, 세공구조 등을 측정하여 제조조건에 따른 그 특성변화를 고찰하였다. 수증기를 이용한 물리적 활성화에서 기존의 탄화과정과 활성화과정의 2단계를 이용한 공정과, 탄화공정과 활성화 공정을 동시에 수행하는 1단계 활성화과정을 비교함으로써 저가로 활성탄소섬유를 제조할 수 있는 제조방법을 연구하였다. 2단계 법에서는 안정화 섬유를 $900^{\circ}C$에서 탄화한 후 이를 다시 $900^{\circ}C$에서 활성화하는 방법으로 $1019m^2/g$의 비표면적을 갖는 활성탄소섬유를 얻었으나 1단계 방법에서는 $900^{\circ}C$에서 $1636m^2/g$의 비표면적을 갖는 활성탄소섬유를 제조하였다. 이들 활성탄소섬유 사이에는 비표면적, 요오드 흡착력, 기공분포 등이 서로 차이가 있음에도 불구하고, Brunauer-Deming-Deming-Teller(BDDT)에 의한 분류에서는 제I형을 나타내는 공통점도 가지고 있었다.

olaFlow 모델에 의한 규칙파작용 하 혼성방파제-해저지반의 상호작용에 관한 수치시뮬레이션 (Numerical Simulation of Interaction between Composite Breakwater and Seabed under Regular Wave Action by olaFlow Model)

  • 해안 항만구조물을 대표하는 혼성방파제의 설계에서 파랑하중에 의한 사석마운드 및 해저지반의 내부에서 과잉간극수압의 거동과 그에 따른 구조물의 파괴가 논의되어 왔고, 이를 수치시뮬레이션기법으로 규명하려는 시도가 있어왔다. 수치시뮬레이션에 관한 대부분의 연구에서는 선형 및 비선형의 해석법이 적용되었지만, 난류모델를 고려한 강비선형해석법이 적용된 사례는 거의 없었다. 본 연구에서는 VOF 법에 의한 쇄파현상과 LES 법에 의한 난류모델을 고려하는 고정도의 혼상류해석법인 olaFlow 모델을 적용하였으며, 규칙파-해저지반 및 규칙파-혼성방파제-해저지반의 상호작용해석에 관한 기존의 수치해석해 및 실험치와의 비교로부터 olaFlow 모델의 타당성을 입증하였다. 이로부터 혼성방파제의 케이슨과 사석마운드에서뿐만 아니라 해저지반의 내부에서 규칙파랑하중에 의한 수평파압, 과잉간극수압의 공간분포, 평균유속, 평균와도의 공간분포에 관한 특성 및 와도 크기의 평균분포와 평균난류 운동에너지와의 관계를 검토하였으며, 나아가 혼성방파제의 안정성을 논의하였다.

가혹 조건에서 양생된 콘크리트의 염화물 확산과 공극 특성의 상관관계 비교 (Comparison of Correlation between Chloride Diffusion and Pores Characteristics in Concrete Cured under Extreme Condition )

  • 본 논문은 가혹 조건을 고려하여 양생시킨 콘크리트를 대상으로 양생 조건이 콘크리트의 공극과 염화물 확산에 미치는 영향을 분석하고자 재령 28일에서의 압축강도, 공극 특성 및 염화물 확산계수를 각각 측정하였다. 연구 결과에 따르면, 상대습도가 증가함에 따라 압축강도가 개선되었으며, 양생 온도 35 ℃에서 가장 큰 압축강도를 보이나, 45 ℃에서 양생을 실시한 경우, 오히려 강도가 감소하였다. 이와 달리, 염화물 확산계수는 온도 및 상대습도가 증가할수록 감소하므로 압축강도의 경향과 차이를 보였다. 한편, 수중양생을 실시할 경우, 압축강도-염화물 확산계수와 공극률-염화물 확산계수의 상관성은 우수하였으나, 가혹 조건에서 양생한 경우, 수중 양생을 실시한 경우와 비교하여 크게 감소하였다. 이에 비해, 양생 조건과 관계없이 평균 공극 직경과 염화물 확산계수는 상관관계가 크지 않은 것으로 나타났다.

A Molecular Phylogenetic Study on Korean Alexandrium catenella and A. tamarense Isolates (Dinophyceae) Based on the Partial LSD rDNA Sequence Data

  • Sequences of the large subunit ribosomal (LSD) rDNA D1-D2 region of Alexandrium catenella(=A. sp. cf. catenella) and A. tamarense isolates, which were collected along the Korea coasts, were analyzed to understand their phylogenetic relationships and geographical distributions. All A. catenella and A. tamarense isolates belonged to the A. tamarense/catenella/fundyense complex and were grouped with the North American and temperate Asian ribotypes, respectively, regardless of the presence or absence of a ventral pore in the first apical plate. A consistent and peculiar characteristic that differentiated the Alexandrium isolates was amplification of a second PCR product with a lower molecular weight in addition to the predicted one; ten A. catenella isolates belonging to the temperate Asian ribotype yielded this additional PCR product. Sequence alignment revealed that the shorter PCR product resulted from an unusual large deletion of 87 bp in the LSD rDNA D1 domain. The North American and temperate Asian ribotypes were prevalent along the Korean coasts without geographical separation. Given the high genetic homogeneity among widely distributed Alexandrium populations, each ribotype appeared to be pandemic rather than to constitute a distinct regional population.

Modeling of damage in cement paste subject to external sulfate attack

  • This study aimed to develop models of sulfate diffusion and ettringite content profile in cement paste for the predication of the damage behavior in cement paste subject to external sulfate. In the models, multiphase reaction equilibrium between ions in pore solution and solid calcium aluminates phases and the microstructure changes in different positions of cement paste were taken into account. The distributions of expansive volume strain and expansion stress in cement paste were calculated based on the ettringite content profile model. In addition, more sulfate diffusion tests and SEM analyses were determined to verify the reliability and veracity of the models. As the results shown, there was a good correlation between the numerical simulation results and experimental evidences. The results indicated that the water to cement ratio (w/c) had a significant influence on the diffusion of sulfate ions, ettringite concentration profile and expansion properties in cement paste specimens. The cracking points caused by ettringite growth in cement paste specimens were predicted through numerical methods. According to the simulation results, the fracture of cement paste would be accelerated when the specimens were prepared with higher w/c or when they were exposed to sulfate solution with higher concentration.

Experimental study on vacuum preloading with flocculation for solid-liquid separation in waste slurry

  • This vacuum preloading combined with polyacrylamide (PAM) flocculation was proposed to separating solid-liquid in waste slurry and to improving bearing capacity of soft soil ground. By using waste slurry taken from drilled shaft construction site in Shanghai, China, a series of settling column tests with four typical flocculants and one normal for waste slurry were carried out for comparative analysis. The optimal amounts for each flocculant were obtained from the column tests. Then, model tests on vacuum preloading with anionic polyacrylamide (APAM) flocculation and without flocculants were carried out. The out of water and the settlement of slurry surface ground were monitored during the model tests, and the changes in water content, particle-size and pore-size distributions in different positions after the model tests were measured and discussed. It is found that water content of the waste slurry without APAM flocculation changed from 204 to 195% by 24 hours standing and 15 hours vacuum preloading, while the water content of the waste slurry with APAM flocculation was declined from 163 to 96% by 24 hours standing, and was further reduced into 37% by 136 hours vacuum preloading, which shows that the combined method is feasible and effective.

배수재의 직경과 형상변화가 수평진공배수에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Size and Shape of Drain on Horizontal Vacuum Drain)

  • This paper is experimental results of investigating the efficiency of horizontal vacuum drainage system. Effects of size and shape of drain on horizontal vacuum drainage were studied. Model tests in the laboratory with soft marine clay were carried out with drain pipe of having three different diameters and PBD (Plastic Board Drain) of strip shape so that consolidation settlement of soft clay due to applied vacuum pressure, amount of discharge, ground settlement and distributions of pore pressure and undrained shear strength were measured during testing. From results of model test, amount of discharge due to vacuum pressure was increased with the diameter of pipe drain whereas the drain efficiency of pipe in per unit area of drain surface was decreased with diameter of pipe. The rate of discharge per unit time was reduced very fast with diameter of pipe. Settlement of ground surface with time was increased with diameter of pipe as a result of increase of discharge to drain pipe.

광대역유도분극 탐사에 기초한 유체투과도 예측기법들 (Techniques to Estimate Permeability Based on Spectral Induced Polarization Survey)

  • Permeability-analyzing methods commonly involve small-scale drilling, such as pumping or slug test, but it is difficult to identify overall distribution of permeability of the entire target sites due to high cost and time requirement. Spectral induced polarization (SIP) method is known to be capable of providing distributions of both the porosity and the pore size, the two major parameters determining permeability of the porous medium. The relationship between SIP variables and permeability has been studied to identify the hydrological characteristics of target sites. Kozeny-Carman formula has been improved through many experiments to better predict fluid permeability with electrical properties. In this work, the permeability prediction techniques based on SIP data were presented in accordance with the hydrogeological and electrical characteristics of a porous medium. Following the summary of the techniques, various models and related laboratory experiments were analyzed and examined. In addition, the field applicability of the prediction model was evaluated by field case analysis.

Experimental study on treatment of waste slurry by vacuum preloading with different conditioning agents

  • In China, serious environmental problems are induced by the extremely soft construction waste slurries in many urban areas, and there is no appropriate method to treat it presently. In this paper, four model tests were conducted to investigate the efficiency of waste slurry treatment by combining three conditioning agents which can change characteristics of the slurries with a traditional vacuum preloading method. The tests of size analysis of particle aggregate were conducted to investigate the influence of different conditioning agents on the size distributions of particle aggregate. During the model test, the discharged water volumes were monitored. The pore-size distribution and void ratio of the waste slurries after the vacuum preloading were measured by mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP). It is found that 1) During the natural precipitation, volume of water out of the organic agent is higher than that of the mixed agent, but it is smaller than that of the mixed agent in the vacuum preloading stage; 2) the mixed agent has a higher total volume of water out than the organic agent and the inorganic agent after test, while the organic agent and the inorganic agent have little difference with respect to the drainage effect. The results demonstrate that the combination of mixed conditioning agent and vacuum preloading for the solid-liquid separation in waste slurry has a satisfactory effect and can be applied in engineering practice.

Open face 터널시공으로 인한 단독말뚝의 거동 (The response of a single pile to open face tunnelling)

  • 본 연구에서는 3차원 유한요소해석을 실시하여 견고한 점토에 기시공되어 있는 단독말뚝의 하부에서 실시된 open face 터널굴착에 의한 말뚝의 거동을 분석하였다. 수치해석에서는 터널굴착으로 인한 말뚝의 거동을 규명하기 위하여 지반, 말뚝의 침하 및 전단응력전이 메커니즘을 심도 있게 분석하였다. 터널굴착으로 인해 Greenfield 조건의 지표면의 침하를 크게 초과하는 말뚝침하가 발생하였으며, 말뚝과 인접지반 사이 경계면에서의 전단응력전이현상으로 인해 말뚝에 작용하는 축력의 분포가 매우 크게 변화하였다. 말뚝침하의 증가로 인하여 말뚝의 겉보기지지력(apparent pile capacity)이 약 30% 감소하는 것으로 분석되었다. 터널굴착에 따른 지중응력 및 변형에 의해 말뚝의 마찰력이 증가하는 현상이 발생하고 이에 따라 말뚝의 축력이 터널의 굴착에 따라 지속적으로 감소하였다. 순수하게 터널굴착에 의하여 단독말뚝에는 설계하중의 최대 21%에 상응하는 인장력이 유발되는 것으로 분석되었다. 말뚝은 터널의 시공이 말뚝의 중심에서 종방향으로 ${\pm}1$-2D (D: 터널직경)에서 실시될 때 가장 큰 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다. 말뚝선단 인근에서는 (-)의 과잉간극수압이 발생하였으며, 말뚝상부 부근에서는 (+)의 과잉간극수압이 발현하였다. 터널굴착에 의한 말뚝의 사용성은 축력변화에 비해서는 말뚝의 침하에 의해 큰 영향을 받는 것으로 분석되었다.
