Population and development are concentrated by urbanization. Consequently, the usage of underground area and the riverside area have been increased. By increasing impermeable layer, the urban basin drainage is depending on level of sewer. Flood damage is occurred by shortage of sewer capacity and poor interior drainage at river stage. Many of researches about flood stress the unavailability of connection at the river stage with the internal inundation organically. In this study, flood calculated considering rainfall and combined inland-river. Also, using urban runoff model analyze the overflow of sewer. By using results of SWMM model, using flood inundation analysis model analyzed internal drainage efficiency of drainage system. Applying SWMM model, which results to flood inundation analysis model, analyzes internal drainage efficiency of drainage system under localized heavy rain in a basin of the city. The results of SWMM model show the smoothness of internal drainage can be impossible to achieve because of the influence of the river level and sewer overflow appearing. The main manholes were selected as the manhole of a lot of overflow volume. Overflow reduction scenarios were selected for expansion of sewer conduit and instruction retention pond. Overflow volume reduces to 45% and 33~64% by retention pond instruction and sewer conduit expansion. In addition, the results of simulating of flood inundation analysis model show the flood occurrence by road runoff moving along the road slope. Flooded area reduces to 19.6%, 60.5% in sewer conduit expansion scenarios.

In this study this writer carried out survey and analysis on paving materials of children's playground for 40 apartment buildings with each of such apartment containing 100 households or more and which were built within last 15 years in Jeonju. As a result of analysis of such questionnaires this author could draw following conclusion. In the second half of 1990s pavement materials which were used mainly were sand and during first half of 2000s they were mixture of sand and rubber block and around 2010 they were rubber block or rubber chip pavements. Such change seemed to be a result of consideration of convenience for management and safety rather than in deference to diversity of children's outing places. Survey on the current status of pavement materials revealed need for directives by the main entity for management and their firm resolve for its implementation. And there was need for their coping with problems such as pressure of treading or lack of it or poor condition of drainage in case of sand and phenomena of pitting or dipping down, discoloring and poor drainage in case of rubber chips and rubber blocks and loosening of gaps between rubber blocks etc. Result of analysing status of usage disclosed that 50.4% of the respondents to questionnaires stated that they had experience of accidents. With regard to cause of such accident it was found that 47.5% of accidents were attributable to play facilities and 19.5% were due to paving (floor) materials thus it was disclosed that not only play facilities but also pavement materials had impact on safety for the children. Result of analysing level of satisfaction with pavement materials showed that pavement by rubber chips and blocks had higher level of satisfaction which was reflection of fear on cleanness of sand. In terms of preference rubber chip and rubber block pavements were highest and the next one was sand. Reason for such preference was based on concern with safety.
An experiment was carried out to study the effects of Zn application on the rice plant of IR-667 and Jinheung varieties grown under the conditions of poor drainage and low available Zn. The results obtained were an follows; 1. The poor drained condition of the paddy field was more favorable for Zn utilization by the rice plants than the well drained condition. Also Zn application in the form of Zinc chloride $(ZnCl_2)$ seemed to significantly increased the rice yield of both IR-667 and Jinheung. 2. Zn content of IR-667 was much higher than that of Jinheung. The concentration of Zn in IR-667 rice plant treated by Zn fertilizer was about 200 ppm while that of control plot (not received Zn fertilizer) only 30 ppm. This result suggests that Zn application might improve the yield under the condition of poor drained soil when Zn concentration of IR-667 rice plant is around 30 ppm. 3. Absorption of Zn-65 by the rice plant was greater in the plants grown without Zn fertilizer than those with Zn fertilizer application, At harvest, the higher amount of Zn-65 was accumulated in the gram than in the straw. 4. Zn fertilization increased the grain yield in the soil of Paju, Dalsung, Chilg ok and Chungwon with low available Zn.

Background : Long abscess is an accumulation of pus within a destroyed portion of the lung. Antibiotic therapy and postural drainge has proven to be an effective method of treatment for the majority of patients with pyogenic lung abscess. When medical therapy fails, thoracotomy and pulmonary resection are the current therapies. empyema is pus in the pleural space, and this term is deserved for effusions on which the Gram stain of the pleural fluid is positive. Initially, such collection may be drained via chest tribe. Recently, in patients who are judged to be unsuitable for surgery are in poor condition, percutaneous drainage using pig-tail catheter has been performed. We report out experience with 10 cases of lung abscess and 23 cases of empyema who were treated by percutaneous pit-tail catheter drainage. Subjects and Methods : Our study included 10 patients with lung abscess and 23 patients with empyema who were treated by percutaneous pig-tail catheter drainage, from January, 1990, to May, 1996, at Hanyang University then a pig-tail catheter was inserted into the abscess or the site of empyema under fluoroscopic and ultrasonograpic guidance. Following aspiration, the catheter was sutured into the skin, and connected to the suction tip. Catheter drainage was discontinued when the abscess of empyema was resolved in radiologically and clinically. Results : There were 2 cases of lung abscess caused by Staphylococcus aureus and Klebsiella pneumoniae and 14 cases of empyema caused by M. tuberculosis. The others were unknown. The duration of drainage was 1-2 weeks in 7 cases of lung abscess and 14 cases of empyema. In the 29 of 33 patients, percutaneous drainage were carried out successfully 20 of the 29 Gases rapidly improved. Conclusion : Percutaneous drainge is effective and relatively saute for management of lung abscess or empyema refractory to medical therapy or poor candidates for surgical treatment.

The Deokjin Pond is one of the places representing Jeonju City's history but has the poor water quality. The pond has a storage of $88,741m^3$ and a drainage area of $3.77km^2$. It has been maintained only by the groundwater pumped from the upstream wells and the direct rainfalls on the water surface since the old streams replenishing the pond were turned into a part of the sewer system due to indiscreet urbanization. The lack of replenishing water as well as the organic-rich bottom sediment were suggested as two main causes deteriorating the water-ecosystem. In this study, possible measures obtaining waters for restoration of Deokjin Pond ecosystem are discussed. It is estimated that the present pond can be replenished about 32 times a year by the runoff when the drainage system in the watershed is recovered to a state before urbanization. To support this, the drainage system is compared with that of nearby Osong Pond, which shows relatively better water-ecosystem. Even though Osong Pond has a drainage area one-seventh of that of Deokjin Pond, its storage is more than the half of it. It is because its watershed has a near natural drainage system where the rain mostly infiltrates into soil and slowly discharges into the pond. Therefore, it is believed that the low impact development (LID), which is known as a technique restoring the water circulating system to a condition before development, would be helpful in obtaining waters required for Deokjin Pond ecosystem management.

Esophagectomy and esophageal reconstruction are commonly chosen as surgical options for esophageal cancer. However, prolonged untreated chyle leakage is associated with a poor prognosis. We report the case of a patient with refractory chylous ascites. To limit the ongoing fluid loss, we utilized the chylous ascites as an additional fluid source in a renal replacement therapy system. A continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) drainage system was modified to drain both the chylous ascites and venous blood. The ascites drainage rate was determined empirically and regulated by a dial-flow extension set. The CRRT mode was set to continuous venovenous hemodiafiltration and maintained for 7 days. After the patient was weaned from CRRT, ascites did not reaccumulate, and the patient's general condition improved dramatically. No infections related to the system occurred. This procedure temporarily alleviates symptoms and provides more time for alternative treatment strategies.

Lime has been used for the neutralization of acidic waste because it is cheap and available in large quantities. The resulting sludge often contains a considerable amount of unreacted lime due to alkali overdosing, even during automatic neutralization processes, which mainly arises from the poor solubility of lime. The sludge cake from lime neutralization of Ilkwang Mine also contained high percentages of calcium and magnesium. The elemental content of the sludge cake was compared with those obtained from a simulation of the lime neutralization facility installed at Ilkwang Mine. A Goldsim® model estimated the degree of lime overdosing to be 19.1% based on the fractions of ferrous oxide. The analysis suggests that resolubilization of aluminum hydroxide could occur in the settling basin, in which pH exceeded 10 due to the continued dissolution of the overdosed lime. The present study demonstrated that chemical analysis of sludge combined with process simulation could provide a reasonable estimate of mass balance and chemistry in a neutralization facility for acid mine drainage.
Lymph node metastasis from bladder cancer mainly involves the external/internal iliac and obturator nodes as the primary lymphatic drainage sites of the bladder, and common iliac sites as the secondary drainage. Lymph node involvement above the diaphragm is rare. Metastasis to the head and neck region is associated with poor prognosis and low survival rate. Herein, we report a case of cervical cutaneous and lymph node metastases in a patient with bladder cancer. This is a rare case of advanced urothelial carcinoma presenting as an aggressive inflammatory process with extensive lymph node involvement, without bony or visceral metastasis.
USGA green specification is currently accepted in construction method of Korea. This study was carried out to find the factors influencing growth of turfgrass associated with soil physical properties of soil root-zone on golf green constructed with USGA method. Three putting greens in poor turfgrass and one in good turfgrass condition were selected for investigation on one golf course site at mid-South Korean peninsula. Soil hardness, moisture content, root length, and turf density were measured on-site greens, and soil physical properties and soil chemical properties also analyzed in laboratory. As a result of on-site surveys and soil physical tests in laboratory, soil physical properties were most important factors which influenced on turfgrass growth at tested greens. The results of soil particle analysis on green No. 2, in good turf condition, matched USGA sand particle recommendations. But those greens such as Nos. 1, 11 and 16, in poor putting greens, showed high soil compaction and improper soil particle distribution. Those factors created low leaf density, poor root depth, and higher moisture content compared with lower part of topsoil. Such phenomena caused inadequate turfgrass growth with soil hardening associated with poor drainage. Therefore, declines of soil physical properties associated with improper particle distribution caused a major factor influencing on turfgrass growth in golf green. Adequate test of soil particle analysis by USGA specification and proper construction method followed by adequate turf maintenance should be performed to obtain optimal turf quality on putting green.
Background: The Mae Kha Canal is one of Chiang Mai's most important waterways. It supports local agriculture, irrigation, and transportation as well as provides stormwater drainage to prevent floods. Due to the unregulated rapid urbanization of the city and lack of efficient waste and wastewater management systems over the past few decades, the canal has become heavily polluted. This study aimed to evaluate the water quality of Mae Kha canal through assessment of the physico-chemical water quality and coliform bacteria. Moreover, benthic macroinvertebrates were samples and assessed using the Biological Monitoring Working Party (BMWPThai) and Average Score Per Taxon (ASPTThai) as biological indices. Results: The physico-chemical showed low dissolved oxygen levels, high levels of ammonia and phosphates, and elevated levels of biochemical oxygen demand, indicating that the water quality had significantly deteriorated. The canal was found to be heavily polluted, with most sites falling into the polluted to very heavily polluted. Coliform bacteria analysis revealed alarmingly high levels of total coliform bacteria and fecal coliform bacteria in the canal. The BMWPThai and ASPTThai scores indicated poor to very poor water quality. Conclusions: The physico-chemical and coliform bacteria indicated that the water quality of the Mae Kha canal had significantly deteriorated. The biological indices also indicated the poor to very poor water quality. This study underscores the urgent need for comprehensive remediation efforts, emphasizing strategic planning, investment, and community engagement to revive the canal's ecological health and water quality.
