Polymeric suspended insulators for subway and electrical track line had been designed and manufactured. The main elements to design polymeric insulators were the insulation ability and the optimal structure. To get the insulation ability, electrical and mechanical tests according to standards had done on housing rubbers and FRP cores and selected the sample with best properties as a insulator. The insulator shape and fitting parts with minimum electrical stress was simulated by FEM electrical field analysis program. The manufactured insulator set had been tested and estimated the electrical and mechanical according to ES and KS, and showed good characteristics in these tests.

Because they have superior insulating properties and lower in price than their ceramic equivalents, polymeric insulators have been used in outdoor insulators. But polymeric insulators mainly using in an heavy contamination area of outdoor could be easily attached to contaminants such as salt and by-products of industrial processes. To understand its effect on contaminants adhered to these insulators, we dismounted polymeric insulators adhered contaminant in the field, and evaluated its electrical characteristics, CA, and ESDD. We also manufactured slurry mixed by some kaolin and salt for the artificial contamination test and measured the degree of contaminant, AC leakage current for these contaminated samples. Consequently, the adhered contaminants to its surface is likely to be affected the performance of insulation.

Advanced polymeric binders with unique functions such as improvements in the electronic conduction network, mechanical adhesion, and mechanical durability during cycling have recently gained an increasing amount of attention as a promising means of creating high-performance silicon (Si) anodes in lithium-ion batteries with high energy density levels. In this review, we describe the key challenges of Si anodes, particularly highlighting the recent progress in the area of polymeric binders for Si anodes in cells.

Two-photon absorption coefficient of a series of dyes in polymer thin films was determined by measuring the femtosecond laser ablation threshold. The threshold value of polymeric thin films decreased gradually when the dopant increased. The two-photon absorption coefficient of the dye molecules dispersed in the polymer film was estimated by using the theoretical relationship between the ablation threshold of the blended polymeric thin films and the dye concentration. The relative values of two-photon absorption cross-section are in good agreement with those measured in solution. On the other hand, the absolute values are smaller than the latter.

New polymeric hydrogels based on vinyl ethers have been synthesized by the ${\gamma}$-initiated polymerization method. Their physical chemistry and physical mechanical properities have been studied. It has been shown that structure and swelling behavior of the hydrogels can be regulated by the changing of synthesis conditions nature of monomers. Novel stimuli-sensitive polymers have been synthesized by the varying of macrochains hydrophilic-hydrophobic balance. The some biomedical aspects of application of hydrogels in capacity of drain aging polymeric materials in ophthalmology surgery, implants in plastic surgery as well as drug delivery systems have been investigated.
We have fabricated a polymeric waveguide by using a hot embossing technique and have investigated its propagation loss. The replication of waveguide channels through the use of a hot embossing technique is of interest as a single-step process that could deliver surface roughnesses far smaller than the wavelength. We have evaluated experimentally that the sidewall roughness has a dominant effect on insertion losses of the multimode polymeric waveguide. The propagation loss of the waveguide decreased dramatically upon decreasing the sidewall roughness of the channel. We have confirmed that the preparation of waveguides having nanometer-scale sidewall roughness and 0.1 dB/cm propagation loss is possible when using the hot embossing technique.
We present simple, low-cost methods for the fabrication of polymeric waveguides that have large core sizes for use as optical interconnects. We have used both hot embossing and micro-contact printing techniques for the fabrication of multimode waveguides using the same materials. Rectangular and large-core (60${\times}$60 $\mu\textrm{m}$$^2$) channels were readily prepared when using these methods. The dimensions of the embossed and printed channels were the same as those of the pattern on the original master. The polymeric waveguides that we fabricated with large core sizes exhibited a low propagation loss of 0.1 dB/cm at 850 nm, which indicates that hot embossing and micro-contact printing are suitable techniques for the fabrication of optical waveguides having large-core.
Poly[(R)-3-hydroxy butyrate] (PHB) and methoxy poly(ethylene glycol) (mPEG) were conjugated by the transesterification reaction with tin(II)-ethylhexanoate (Sn(Oct)-II) as a catalyst. Hydrophobic PHB and hydrophilic mPEG formed an amphiphilic block copolymer which was formed with the self-assembled polymeric micelle in aqueous solution. In this study, we tried to determine the optimum ratio of hydrophobic/hydrophilic segments for controlled drug delivery. The particle size and shape of the polymeric micelle were measured by atomic force microscopy (AFM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Their size were 61-102 nm with various block ratios. Griseofulvin was loaded in the polymeric micelle as a hydrophobic model drug. The loading efficiency and release profile were measured by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The model drug in our system was constantly released for 48 h.

Transfer molding methods have a problem that weak adhesion between nanostructures and substrates. It is important to make various nano scale applications, also the stability of nanostructure on substrate is related with device performance. We studied an effect of poly 4-vinylphenol (PVP) as the polymeric adhesion layer between organic nanowires and a Si substrate when the nanowires are transferred by liquid-bridge-mediated nanotransfer molding method (LB-nTM). Their structural stability was examined by optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy as multiple transfer molding and washing process. Field-effect transistors were fabricated with organic semiconductor nanowires on a polymeric adhesion layer and their electrical properties showed no significant difference as the one without the adhesion layer. As a result, adhesion layer can be used in the washing process and making multi-layer nano-scale patterns.
Electrical properties of a fluorinated carbon black (CB)-filled high-density polyethylene (HDPE) polymeric switch were investigated as a function of fluorination pressure at 0.1 ~ 0.4 MPa. From the FT-IR results, the absorption spectra of the fluorinated CB show an absorption band at 1400 ~ 1000 $cm^{-1}\;for\;{\nu}_{C-F}$ and the peak intensity increased with increasing fluorination pressure. Also, the analysis of XPS spectra of the fluorinated CB indicated that fluorine content increased with increasing fluorination pressure. Meanwhile, the surface free energy of the fluorinated CB decreased with increasing fluorination pressure. Consequently, the increase of fluorine contents of CB made a disappearance of negative temperature coefficient (NTC) behavior of the polymeric switch, which was probably due to the reduction of CB reaggregation after melting point of the HDPE, resulted from the decreasing of London dispersive component of the surface free energy for CB particles.
