  • The effects of polymer-binder ratio and ceramic powder content on the drying shringage and strength of polymer-modified pastes using redispersible polymer powders and ceramic powder are examined. As a result, the drying shrinkage of the polymer-modified pastes using redispersible polymer powders tend to decrease with increasing polymer-binder ratio and ceramic powder content. Regardless of the type of polymer powder, the tensile strength and adhesion in tension of the polymer-modified pastes with ceramic powder tend to increase with increasing polymer-binder ratio and ceramic powder content.

  • In an Additive Manufacturing (AM) system emplying the Powder Bed Fusion (PBF) system, polyamide-12 powder is currently recognized as the general material used. The Polyamide-12 powder's properties include an average particle size of 58 $58{\mu}m$, a density of 0.59 g/cm3, and melting point of $184^{\circ}C$, and can also be to used coat materials for metal powder. For this reason, the sintering process is similar to the polymer powder and polymer coated metal powder process, except during the post-process. The polyamide-12 powder has some disadvantages such as its high cost and the fact that it can only be used for the provided equipment from the maker. Therefore, this study aims to perform the applicability of new material, polymer and polymer coated metal, to the PBF system.

  • This study was performed to evaluate the compressive strength and acid-resistant of polymer concrete using redispersible polymer powder(RPP) and blast furnace slag powder(BSP). Material used were ordinary portlant cement, recycled coarse aggregate, natural fine aggregate, redispersible polymer powder and blast furnace slag powder. The main experimental variables were the substitution ratio of redispersible polymer powder and blast furnace slag powder, when the substitution ratios of RPP were 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6%, and those of BSP were 10%. The compressive strength and acid-resistant of polymer concrete using RPP and BSP were compared with those of ordinary concrete(Basis). When the substitution ratio of RPP was 1%, at age of 28 days, the compressive strength were more higher than those of Basis by 24%, and it was decreased with increasing the RPP content, respectively. Also, the water absorption ratio was decreased with increasing the RPP content. But, the acid-resistant was improved with increasing the RPP content.

As a result the setting time of the polymer-modified pastes with alumina powder tended to delay with increasing binder content. Irrespective of the type of polymer, the drying shrinkage of the polymer-modified pastes with alumina powder tended to decrease with increasing binder content and alumina powder content. Regardless of the type of polymer, the tensile and adhesion strengths of the polymer-modified pastes with alumina powder tended to increase with increasing binder content and alumina powder content. Irrespective of the type of polymer, the durability factors of the polymer-modified pastes with alumina powder tended to increase with increasing alumina content. Irrespective of the type of polymer, the water absorptions of the polymer-modified pastes with alumina powder tended to decrease with increasing binder content and alumina content.

  • The effects of polymer-cement ratio and shrinkage-reducing agent content on the durability characteristics of ultrarapid-hardening polymer-modified mortars using redispersible polymer powder are examined. As a result, the flexural and tensile strengths of the ultrarapid-hardening polymer-modified mortars using redispersible polymer powder tend to increase with increasing polymer-cement ratio, and tend to decrease with increasing shrinkage-reducing agent content. However, the compressive strength of the ultrarapid-hardening polymer-modified mortars using redispersible polymer powder decrease with increasing polymer-cement ratio and shrinkage-reducing agent content. And, water absorption and mass change of chemicals resistance of ultrarapid-hardening polymer-modified mortars using redispersible polymer powder tend to decrease with increasing polymer-cement ratio.

  • The effects of polymer-cement ratio and antifoamer content on the setting time and durability of high-fluidity polymer-modified mortars using redispersible polymer powder are examined. As a result, the setting time of the polymer-modified mortars using redispersible polymer powder tend to delayed with increasing polymer-cement ratio, regardless of the antifoamer content. The water absorption and chloride ion penetration depth of the high-fluidity polymer-modified mortars using redispersible polymer powder decrease with increasing polymer-cement ratio and antifoamer content. The water absorption and chloride ion penetration improvement is attributed to the improved bond between cement hydrates and aggregates because of the incorporation of redispersible polymer powder.

  • In general, the drying shrinkage of polymer-modified mortars using redispersible polymer powders is much higher than that of unmodified mortar. The purpose of this study is to reduce the drying shringkage of polymer-modified mortars using a redispersible poly(ethylene-vinyl acetate) (EVA) powder, which is widely used for the manufacture of prepackaged-type polymer-modified mortar products at present. Polymer-modified mortars using the redispersible EVA powder with powdered shrinkage-reducing agent were prepared with various polymer-cement ratios and shrinkage-reducing agent contents, and tested for drying shrinkage and strength. From the test results, the drying shrinkage of the redispersible EVA powder-modified mortars with a powdered shrinkage agent is remarkably reduced with increasing shrinkage-reducing agent content, and becomes approximately a half of that of the redispersible EVA powder-modified mortars with the same polymer-cement ratios and without the shrinkage-reducing agent at a shrinkage-reducing agent content of 6%.

  • The purpose of this study is to ascertain the strength properties of water-permeable polymer concretes with SBR latex and redispersible polymer powder. The water-permeable polymer concretes using SBR latex and redispersible polymer powder with water-binder ratio of 29%, polymer-cement ratios of 0, 5, 10, 15 and 20% are prepared, and tested for compressive strength, tensile strength, flexural strength, water permeability. From the test results, improvements in the strength properties of the water-permeable polymer concretes due to the addition of the SBR latex and redispersible polymer powder are discussed.
