This study was undertaken to examine the feasibility of recycling waste concrete fine aggregate to prepare polymer-modified mortars. The specimens of polymer-modified mortars were prepared by using styrene-butadiene rubber(SBR) latex and polyacrylic ester(PAE) emulsion as a polymer modifier. The formulations for specimens were prepared with various replacing ratios of waste concrete fine aggregates as parts of standard sand and various polymer cement ratios. For the evaluation of the performance of polymer-modified mortars, various physical properties were investigated. As a results, water cement ratio of polymer-modified fresh mortars increased with an increase of recycled fine aggregate, but decreased with an increase of polymer modifiers. The compressive and flexural strengths of polymer-modified mortars decreased with an increase of recycled fine aggregate, but flexural strengths increased with an increase of polymer modifiers.

This study investigated to predict the compressive strength of unsaturated polyester resin based polymer concrete using the maturity method. The test results show that the development of the compressive strength increased exponentially until an age of 24 hours. After 24 hours, the development of the compressive strength just increased gradually. This test result shows that the strength of unsaturated polyester resin based polymer concrete was developed mainly at the early age. Estimated datum temperature of unsaturated polyester resin based polymer concrete was $-20.67^{\circ}C$ which was much lower than of datum temperature ($-10^{\circ}C$) of Portland cement concrete. Also, this study result shows that the existing maturity index associated with Portland cement concrete was not applicable for polymer concrete because curing time of Portland cement concrete is different clearly with curing time of polymer concrete. The cause of different curing time was that there were different curing mechanisms between Portland cement concrete and polymer concrete. In order to best apply the experimental data to a model, CurveExpert Professional, the commercial software, was used to determine the predictive model regarding the compressive strength of unsaturated polyester resin based polymer concrete. As a result, Gompertz Relation or Weibull Model was an appropriate model as a predictive model. The proposed model can be used to predict the compressive strength, especially, it is more useful when the maturity is in the range between $40^{\circ}C{\cdot}h^{0.4}$ and $900^{\circ}C{\cdot}h^{0.4}$.

The effects of polymer-cement ratio, antifoamer agent content and shrinkage-reducing agent content on the drying shrinkage of polymer-modified mortars using redispersible polymer powder are examined. As a result, irrespective of the antifoamer content, the drying shrinkage of the polymer-modified mortars using redispersible polymer powder tend to decrease with increasing polymer-cement ratio and shrinkage-reducing agent content. Such a drying shrinkage development is due to the effect of reducing water from incorporation of EVA redispersible polymer powder and antifoamer agent.
In this research the physical properties of polymer modified mortar containing pulverized FRP(Fiber-Reinforced Plastics) wastes fine powder as a part of fine aggregate were investigated. Styrene-butadiene rubber(SBR) latex, polyacrylic ester(PAE) emulsion and ethylene-vinyl acetate(EVA) emulsion were used as Polymer modifier. Polymer modified mortars containing FRP wastes fine powder were prepared with various FRP wastes fine powder replacement(5∼30 wt%) for fine aggregate and polymer-cement ratios(5∼20 wt%). The water-cement ratio, water absorption rates and hot water immersion test, compressive and flexural strengths of polymer modified mortars were tested and the results compared to those of ordinary portland cement mortar. As the results, compressive and flexural strengths of polymer modified mortar containing FRP wastes fine powder depend on the contents of FRP wastes fine powder, type and additional amounts of polymer modifier. Some of them showed higher compressive and flexural strengths than those of ordinary portland cement mortar. Especially, SBR-modified mortar showed the highest strengths properties among three types of polymer modifier. Also water absorption rates, compressive and flexural strengths of SBR-modified mortar were more superior than those of PAE or EVA-modified mortar. The optimum mix proportions of SBR-modified mortar was 20 wt% of polymer-cement ratio and 20 wt% of FRP wastes fine powder replacement. Otherwise heat cured polymer modified mortar accelerated the improvement of early compressive and flexural strengths.

Several materials using polymer-portland-cement concrete have developed to have not only strength of attachment with body, but also waterproof function and strong anti-sodium chloride properties. Especially, in case of railway, unlike other public transportation, it is very difficult to doing the repair and reinforcement work of structure during service time. Therefore, the development and study of materials having characteristics of structural strength, unification behavior with body, and resistance of crack are very important. Accordingly, the characteristic of material of polymer based concrete is indicated compared with the experiment and analysis through this study, and suggested application to railway tunnel, bridge, and concrete track structure.

This study investigated the strength of concrete to improve construction material with polymer cement mortar. Some mixtures composed of Styrene-Butadiene Rubber(SBR) and Ethylene Vinyl Acetate(EVA) Poly Vinyl Alcohol(PVA) were studied. The three mixtures carried out the physical, mechanical test to determine its properties which a include : compressive, flexural, bond strength test. The test results show that the compressive strength was increased at long-term age when compared to early ages for increasing polymer contents. It was found that flexural strength and bond strength became larger as polymer to cement ratio became higher.

The organic insulation material has excellent thermal insulation property, but it is difficult to expect fire stability, and semi inorganic insulation only delays combustible hour but it is difficult to expect fire stability. In this study, thermal insulation property of cement-based non-combustible inorganic insulation using cement and non combustible materials and redispersible polymer powder was studied. As a result of the experiment, the thermal insulation property decreased as the use of redispersible polymer powder increased, but the heat insulation property improved when using the appropriate amount.

In general, the drying shrinkage of polymer-modified mortars using redispersible polymer powders is much higher than that of unmodified mortar. The purpose of this study is to reduce the drying shringkage of polymer-modified mortars using a redispersible poly(ethylene-vinyl acetate) (EVA) powder, which is widely used for the manufacture of prepackaged-type polymer-modified mortar products at present. Polymer-modified mortars using the redispersible EVA powder with powdered shrinkage-reducing agent were prepared with various polymer-cement ratios and shrinkage-reducing agent contents, and tested for drying shrinkage and strength. From the test results, the drying shrinkage of the redispersible EVA powder-modified mortars with a powdered shrinkage agent is remarkably reduced with increasing shrinkage-reducing agent content, and becomes approximately a half of that of the redispersible EVA powder-modified mortars with the same polymer-cement ratios and without the shrinkage-reducing agent at a shrinkage-reducing agent content of 6%.
