The micro domain structures and crystallization behavior of the binary blends of poly(methyl methacrylate)-b-poly(pentafluorostyrene)-b-poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA-PPFS-PMMA) triblock copolymer with a low molecular weight poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) were investigated by small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS), small-angle light scattering (SALS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), optical microscopy, and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). A symmetric, PMMA-PPFS-PMMA triblock copolymer with a PPFS weight fraction of 33% was blended with PVDF in N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMAc). In the wide range of PVDF concentration between 10.0 and 30.0 wt%, PVDF was completely incorporated within the PMMA micro domains of PMMA-PPFS-PMMA without further phase separation on a micrometer scale. The addition of PVDF altered the phase morphology of PMMA-PPFS-PMMA from well-defined lamellar to disordered. The crystallization of PVDF significantly disturbed the domain structure of PMMA-PPFS-PMMA in the blends, resulting in a poorly-ordered morphology. PVDF displayed unique crystallization behavior as a result of the space constraints imposed by the domain structure of PMMA-PPFS-PMMA. The pre-existing microdomain structures restricted the lamellar orientation and favored a random arrangement of lamellar crystallites.
제조된 공중합체인 poly(vinyl acetate-co-methyl methacrylate)(PVAc/PMMA), poly(vinyl acetate-co-ethyl methacrylate)(PVAc/PEMA)를 수분 측정기를 사용하여 100, 130, 150, 180, $200^{\circ}C$에서 등온건조 시키고, 그 건조 특성을 고찰하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다.
막은poly(methyl methacrylate)(PMMA), poly(ethyl methacrylate)(PEMA), poly(butyl methacrylate)(PBMA), poly(isobutyl, methacrylate)(PIBMA) 및 이들의 블렌드를 사용하여 습식 상 역전 방법으로 제조하였다.
Effects of sliding speed, applied load, counterpart radius and thickness of PMMA (Poly Methyl Methacrylate) coating layers on their dry sliding frictional and wear behavior were investigated. Sliding wear tests were carried out using a pin-on-disk wear tester. The PMMA layer was coated on Si wafer by a sol-gel technique with two different thicknesses, $1.5{\mu}m\;and\;0.8{\mu}m$. AISI 52100 bearing steel balls were used as a counterpart of the PMMA coating during the wear. Normal applied load and sliding speed were varied. Wear mechanisms were investigated by examining worn surfaces by an SEM. Under most of sliding test conditions, the thicker layer with the thickness of $1.5{\mu}m$ showed lower fiction coefficient than the thinner layer. Effects of sliding speed and counterpart's radius on the frictional behavior were varied depending on the thickness of the coating layer.
Multilayer Poly methyl methacrylate (PMMA)/ Poly vinyl alcohol (PVA) bone plates were fabricated using electrospinning and in vitro investigations were carried out for pre-clinical biocompatibility studies. The initial cellular cytotoxicity of the methacrylate (PMMA)/ Poly vinyl alcohol (PVA) bone plates was measured by MTT (3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide) assay using fibroblast-like L-929 cells. Cellular adhesion and differentiation studies were carried out using osteoblast-like MG-63 cells. As simulated body fluid (SBF) contains the same ionic concentration of body fluid and any bioactive material tends to deposit bone-like apatite on the samples surfaces into the SBF, in vitro bioactivity of the multilayer bone plates were investigated using SBF. We also studied the internal organization and tensile strength of the multilayer PMMA/PVA bone plates using micro-computed topography (${\mu}$-CT) and universal testing instrument (UTI, Korea) respectively. The cellular cytotoxicity study with MTT confirmed that the cellular viability was 78 to 90% which indicates good cyto-compatibility. Scanning electron microscopic findings revealed a good attachment and adhesion phenomenon of MG-63 cells onto the surfaces of the samples. Cellular differentiation studies also showed that osteogenic differentiation was switched on in a timely manner and affirmed along with that of the control group. Bone-like apatite formation on the surfaces was confirmed within 14 days of SBF incubation. Initial organizations of the multilayer PMMA/PVA bone plates were characterized as dense and uniform. The tensile strength of the post-pressing electronspun mat was higher than that of the pre-electronspun mat. These results suggest that a multilayer PMMA/PVA bone plate system is biocompatible, bioactive and a very good alternative bone plate system.
In order to prepare high molecular weight poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA)/silver nanocomposite microspheres, methyl methacrylate was suspension-polymerized in the presence of silver nanoparticles at low temperature with 2,2'-azobis(2,4-dimethylvaleronitrile) as an initiator. The rate of conversion was increased by increasing the initiator concentration. When silver nanoparticles were added, the rate of polymerization decreased slightly. High monomer conversion (about $85\%$) was obtained in spite of low polymerization temperature of $30^{\circ}C$. Under controlled conditions, PMMA/silver microspheres with various number-average degrees of polymerization (6,000-37,000) were prepared. Morphology studies revealed that except for normal suspension microspheres with a smooth surface, a golf ball-like appearance of the microspheres was observed, due to the migration and aggregation of the hydrophilic silver nanoparticles at the sublayer beneath the microsphere's surface.
To obtain high molecular weight (HMW) poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) with high conversion, methyl methacrylate (MMA) was polymerized in suspension using a room temperature initiator, 2,2'-azobis(2,4-dimethylvaleronitrile) (ADMVN), and the effects of polymerization conditions on the polymerization behavior of MMA and the molecular parameters of PMMA were investigated. On the whole, the experimental results well corresponded to the theoretically predicted tendencies. These effects could be explained by a kinetic order of ADMVN concentration calculated by an initial rate method and an activation energy difference of polymerization obtained from the Arrhenius plot. Suspension polymerization at 25℃ by adopting ADMVN proved to be successful in obtaining PMMA of HMW (number-average degree of polymerization (P/sub n/): 30,900-36,100) and of high yield (ultimate conversion of MMA into PMMA: 83-93 %) with diminishing heat generated during polymerization. The P/sub n/ and lightness were higher and polydispersity index was lower with PMMA polymerized at lower temperatures.
Using glycidyl methacrylate-linked poly(dimethylsiloxane), methyl methacrylate was polymerized in supercritical $CO_2$. The effects of $CO_2$ pressure, reaction time, and mixing on the yield, molecular weight, and molecular weight distribution (MWD) of the poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) products were investigated. The shape, number average particle diameter, and particle size distribution (PSD) of the PMMA were characterized. Between 69 and 483 bar, the yield and molar mass of the PMMA products showed a trend of increasing with increasing $CO_2$ pressure. However, the yield leveled off at around 345 bar and the particle diameter of the PMMA increased until the pressure reached 345 bar and decreased thereafter. With increasing pressure, MWD became more uniform while PSD was unaffected. As the reaction time was extended at 207 bar, the particle diameter of PMMA decreased at $0.48{\pm}0.03%$ AIBN, but increased at 0.25% AIBN. Mixing the reactant mixture increased the PMMA yield by 18.6% and 9.3% at 138 and 207 bar, respectively.
