솔-젤법을 이용한 aminoalkoxysilane 산소차단필름의 제조 (The Preparation of Sol-Gel Derived Aminoalkoxysilane Films and its Application for Oxygen Barrier)

  • The oxygen barrier films were formed on poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) substrate by a sol-gel process using aminoalkoxysilanes. The coating layers were characterized by FT-IR and SEM. The oxygen permeability coefficients of coating films were measured by variable volume method, and then the influences of solvent ratio in sol and film drying temperature on the oxygen barrier properties were investigated. The aminoalkoxysilane coating films exhibited much higher oxygen barrier properties than PET film. The oxygen permeability coefficient of the film coated with each of APTEOS and APTMOS was measured to be $2.96{\times}10^{-6}$ and $3.05{\times}10^{-5}\;GPU$, respectively, while that of PET film was $1.16{\times}10^{-4}\;GPU$.

  • We have studied commercialization and process optimization of protective film on transparent conductive coated substrate, nano silver on flexible PET (poly ethylene terephthalate), by means of roll-to-roll micro-gravure coater. Nanosilver on flexible PET substrate is potential materials to replace ITO (indium tin oxide). Protective film is most important to maintain unique silver pattern on top of transparent PET. PSA pressure sensitive adhesives) was developed solely for nano silver on PET and protective film was successfully laminated. We have optimized all process conditions such as coating thickness, line speed and aging time & temperature via experimental design. Transparent conductive film and its protective film developed in this research are commercially available at this moment.

  • Poly(ethylene terephthalate)(PET) filaments of regular(monodenier 2.08d) and ultramicrofiber (monodenier 0.05d) were treated with dimethylformamide(DMF) to observe the structure change of the PET such as shrinkage, density, X-ray diffraction of the UMF treated with DMF were measured. Also, dyeing experiments were performed to see the effects of DMF. The dyeability was improved by DMF treatments, and the equilibrium dye uptake increased in spite of the increase in the density and birefringence and crystallinity. The heat shrinkage appeared in PET UMF treated PET UMF treated with DMF at $80^\circ{C}$ by TMA, DSC, and Reovibron analysis and $T_m$ peak was shown by DSC analysis.

  • In order to investigate the fine structural changes of poly (ethylene terephthalate) film by hydrazinolysis, PET was treated with hydrazine hydrate in methanol at $30^{\circ}C$ for various times. Initially apparent crystallite size and degree of orientation are increased and then, gradually decreased with hydrazinolysis. According to thermoluminescence measurement, trap site decreased by dissolution and then gradually increased with growth of defect in structure. Maximum peak temperature of tan and dynamic loss modulus E" upon hydrazinolysis shifted to the lower temperature in the progress of hydrazinolysis.ysis.

Poly(ethylene terephthalate) filament의 후처리 조건이 염색성에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Aftertreatment Conditions on the Dyeability of PET Filament)

  • The crystallinity and dyeability of PET filament were studied when the conditions of drawing and heat-setting were varied. The crystaltinity of PET filament was increased as the drawing ratio and heatsetting temperature were increased. The dye uptake and dyeing rate of PET filament were decreased as the drawing ratio was increased. With increasing the heat-setting temperature, however, the dye uptake and dyeing rate were decreased at an early stage, showing the minimum at $160^{\circ}C-180^{\circ}C$ and then increased above that temperature. The thermal shrinkage of PET filament was decreased as the drawing ratio was increased, while increasing as the heat-setting temperature was increased.

  • The oxygen barrier films were formed on poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) substrate by a sol-gel process using 3-aminoproprytrimethoxysilane (APTMOS). The effects of solvent type, coating times and incorporation of fumed silica on oxygen permeability coefficient were investigated. The APTMOS coating film prepared from methanol as a solvent exhibited higher oxygen barrier properties than that using THF. The oxygen permeability coefficient of coated film with APTMOS/methanol by coating 7 times was measured to be $2.28{\times}10^{-6}$, while that of PET film was $1.16{\times}10^{-4}$ GPU. The addition of fumed silica does not affect the oxygen barrier properties. It may be explained that silica particles disrupt chain packing, which leads to an increase in free volume for permeation.

  • Electrical and optical characteristics of indium tin oxide (ITO) and indium zinc oxide (IZO) films without and with $(SiO_2)_3(ZnO)_7$ at.% (SZO) film deposited on poly(ethylene naphthalate) (PEN) and poly(ethylene terephthalate (PET) substrates as a gas barrier layer for flexible display were studied. The ITO and IZO films with SZO gas barrier layer showed the improved properties which were both the high transmittance of average 80% in the visible light range and the decreased sheet resistance as compared to those of ITO and IZO films without SZO layer. Particularly, the PEN substrate with only SZO gas barrier layer had a low water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) of $\sim10^{-3}g/m^2$/day. Thus, we suggest that the SZO film with protection ability against the water vapor permeation can be applied to gas barrier layer for flexible display.

  • Inorganic salts have negative or positive effects on the rates of many chemical reactions and also the rates of acidic and alkaline hydrolysis of carboxylic esters. The direction of salt effects on the hydrolysis of ester depends on the charge of esters. It is expected that the rate of the alkaline hydrolysis of Poly(ethylene terephthalte)(PET), polymeric solid carboxytic polyester with carboxyl end group at the polymer end, is also influenced by inorganic salts. In the present work, to clarify the effect of divalent cations on the alkaline hydrolysis of PET, many salts with divalent cations like $MgCl_{2},CaCl_{2},SrCl_{2},BaCl_{2},$ were added to the aqueous alkaline solutions. Then PET was hydrolyzed with aqueous NaOH solution having many salts under various conditions. Some conclusions obtained from the experimental results were summarized as follows. Many salts with various divalent cations increased or decreased the reaction rate of alkaline hydrolysis of PET depending on their electrophilicity, hydration property, ability of ion pair formation, solubility, and the degree of interactions between divalent cations and anions, etc. The hydrolysis was interrupted in the order of $Ca^{+2} and was generally accelerated in the order of $Ba^{+2}. It was inferred from the increase in ΔS$^*$and the decrease in the ΔG$^*$that the divalent cations $Sr^{+2}$ and $Ba^{+2}$attracted by PET increased the collision frequency between carbonyl carbon and $OH^{-}$ion and then accelerated the reaction rate. $Mg^{+2}$and $Ca^{+2}$decreased the reaction rate because of their strong interaction with $OH^{-}$.

  • PET/PEN 블렌딩에 의하여 발현되는 형태학적 변화가 PET/PEN 블렌드 유연기관 특성에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. PET와 PEN의 용융 블렌딩에 따른 two phase 형태학적 변화는 블렌드의 유연기관으로서의 치수안정성을 증가시킴을 알 수 있었다. PET/PEN 필름의 가공조건에 따른 상호에스테르 교환반응은 블렌드의 two phase 형태와 결정화도를 변화시키며 이러한 거시적 형태학적 변화는 유연기관으로서의 PET/PEN 필름의 치수안정성에 영향을 미침을 확인하였다. 결정화도가 높을수록 상호에스테르 교환반응이 낮을수록 PET/PEN 블렌드 필름의 치수안정성이 우수해짐을 알 수 있었다.

  • 폴리에스테르 유연기판 제조를 위하여 PET-PEN 공중합체를 합성하고 이들의 형태학적 변화가 유연기판 특성에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 합성된 PET-PEN 공중합체는 DMT/NDC의 조성비에 따라 공중합체 block sequence가 달라짐을 확인하였다. 공중합체에 PET-PEN과 PEN의 block sequence가 증가할수록 유리전이온도가 증가하며 이에 따라 유연기판의 치수안정성이 증가됨을 확인하였으며 DMT/NDC의 조성비가 50/50인 경우, 열팽창계수(CTE)가 최소가 됨을 확인하였다. 합성된 PET-PEN 공중합체는 광투과 특성이 80% 이상을 유지하며 1시간 동안 $280^{\circ}C$에서의 열안정성도 0.4 wt% 이내를 유지하여 유연기판으로 적용이 가능함을 알 수 있었다.
