A Method of Extracting Features of Sensor-only Facilities for Autonomous Cooperative Driving

  • In this paper, we propose a method to extract the features of five sensor-only facilities built as infrastructure for autonomous cooperative driving, which are from point cloud data acquired by LiDAR. In the case of image acquisition sensors installed in autonomous vehicles, the acquisition data is inconsistent due to the climatic environment and camera characteristics, so LiDAR sensor was applied to replace them. In addition, high-intensity reflectors were designed and attached to each facility to make it easier to distinguish it from other existing facilities with LiDAR. From the five sensor-only facilities developed and the point cloud data acquired by the data acquisition system, feature points were extracted based on the average reflective intensity of the high-intensity reflective paper attached to the facility, clustered by the DBSCAN method, and changed to two-dimensional coordinates by a projection method. The features of the facility at each distance consist of three-dimensional point coordinates, two-dimensional projected coordinates, and reflection intensity, and will be used as training data for a model for facility recognition to be developed in the future.

  • This paper presents design for error correcting algorithm of the time of flight (ToF) detection value in the light detection and ranging (LIDAR) system sensor. The walk error of ToF value is generated by change of the received signal power depending on distance between the LIDAR sensor and object. The proposed method efficiently compensates the ToF value error by the independent ToF value calculation from the received signal using both rising point and falling point. A constant error of ~0.05 m is obtained after the walk error correction while an increasing error up to ~1 m is obtained with conventional method.

  • In this paper, measuring system of 5 DOF motion errors are proposed using two capacitive type sensor, a straight edge and a laser interfoerometer. Yawing error and pitching error are measured using the laser interferometer, and rolling error is measured by the reversal method using a capacitive type sensor. Linear motion errors of horizontal and vertical direction are measured using the sequential two point method. In this case, influence of angular motion errors is compensated using the previously measured angular motion errors. In the horizontal direction, measuring accuracy is within 0.05 $\mu$m and 0.27 arcsec, and in the vertical direction, it is within 0.15 $\mu$m and 0.5 arcsec. From these results, it is confirmed that the proposed measureing system is very effective to the measurement of 5 DOF motion errors in the ultra precision feed tables.

  • In this paper, we present a robust and fast method that enables real-time computing of axial motion component of different points of a scene from a stereo images sequence. The aim of our method is to establish axial motion maps by computing a range of disparity maps. We propose a solution in two steps. In the first step we estimate motion with a low level computing for an image point by a detection estimation-structure. In the second step, we use the neighbourhood information of the image point with morphology operation. The motion maps are established with a constant computation time without spatio-temporal matching.

  • It was well known that thermopile was quiet a competent sensor using to probe the temperature of "hot point" where the temperature can be off the temperature-limitation for normal operation of the main electrical power equipment. In the present work, we aimed for developing new Ge-thermopile materials which can be using a non-contact temperature sensors at various hot-point of the power equipment and evaluation of its output property. As a results of the present works, a new thermopile which were composed Ga-poded p-type and Sb-doped n-type in Ge-semiconductor were designed and manufactured by MBE(Molecular Beam Epitaxy) process and showed superior sensitivity at room temperature.

  • In this paper, using a wide-band AE sensor with the frequency range from 100[kHz], the frequency spectra of AE signals generated from the corona discharges of the needle-plane electrode was analyzed to determine the proper ultrasonic sensor. We also examined the relationship between the magnitude of corona discharge and the magnitude of AE signals in peak-to-peak value under the application of 60[Hz] AC high-voltage in oil. From these results, the main frequency spectra of AE signals emitted from the corona discharges of the needle-plane gap were found to be 130[kHz] by the fast fourier transform. The magnitude of AE signals was proportional to the magnitude of corona discharge and discharge current pulse with increasing the applied voltages. Also the detection of corona discharge point location by AE signals was found to be possible by using two sensors.

  • This paper described about the ultra-precision profile measurement of aspheric surfaces using contact probing technique. A contact probe has been designed as a sensing device to obtain measuring resolutions in nanometer regime utilizing a leaf spring mechanism and a capacitive-type sensor. The contact probe is attached on the z-axis during measurement while aspheric objects are supported on the single point diamond turning machine(SPDTM). The machine xz-axis motions are monitored by a set of two orthogonal plane mirror type laser interferometers. Experimental results show that the contact probing technique developed of On-machine Measurement System in this investigation is capable of providing a repeatability of 20 nanometers with a $\pm$20 uncertainty of 300 nanometers.

  • In this paper, we propose the localization algorithm for the cooperative behavior of the swarm robots based on WSN (Wireless Sensor Network). The proposed method is as follows: First, we measure positions of the L-bot (Leader robot) and F-bots (Follower robots) by using the APIT (Approximate Point In Triangle) and the RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indication). Second, we measure relative positions of the F-bots against the pre-measured position of the L-bot by using trilateration. Then, to revise a position error caused by noise of the wireless signal, we use the particle filter. Finally, we show the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method though some simulations.

  • In this paper, the Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) based on ZigBee technology was devised and developed. Wireless communication was applied to petrochemical domain, like other industries. And sensor network of IEEE 802.15.4 protocol stack diagram was described. Then, by analyzing the protocol, the software systems included the communication Protocol and point-to-point network were implemented with Freescale Semiconductor's product MC13192-SARD DSK board. After that, the performance of this design system was evaluated, and finally, by using PC Graphic User Interface (GUI) and IDE CW08 V3.1 programming tool, the real time communication data and the curve function were displayed.
