수중폭발에 의한 해중터널의 동적거동 (Dynamic Behavior of Submerged Floating Tunnel by Underwater Explosion)

  • 본 논문에서는 수중폭발(UE: underwater explosion)에 의한 해중터널(SFT: submerged floating tunnel)의 동적거동을 양해법(explicit)를 이용하는 LS-DYNA에 의한 유한요소해석을 통하여 분석하였다. SFT의 유한요소모델은 원형단면의 강재 라이너에 콘크리트가 채워진 복합재 원형단면으로 고려되었다. 해중터널 시스템의 중앙부 100m 구간은 탄소성재료를 고려한 솔리드(solid)요소로 상세하게 모델링하였으며, 양측 방향으로 각각 1km 구간에 대해서는 탄성재료를 고려하여 빔(beam) 요소로 이상화하여 모델링하였다. 사선계류시스템은 케이블(cable)요소를 적용하였으며, 수중폭발에 의한 동적거동시 수리동적질량의 영향을 고려하기 위하여 원형단면에 대한 추가질량을 고려하였다. 또한 부력과 같은 상시하중을 초기조건으로 고려하기 위하여 동적완화해석(dynamic relaxation analysis)를 수행하였다. UE는 부력비(B/W)와 폭발지점으로부터 거리의 변화에 대해서 고려하였으며, 폭발의 규모는 천안함 합동조사보고서(2010)를 참조하여 TNT 360kg로 결정하였다. 수중폭발 해석결과, 폭발지점으로부터 SFT까지 거리는 관입량, 충격압력의 크기와 반비례 관계에 있고, 부력비(B/W)가 커질수록 계류장력도 커짐을 확인하였다. 그러나 사선계류라인의 계류각 변화는 SFT의 수평거동, 관입량, 계류력, 충격압력과의 연관성을 찾을 수가 없었다.

연속보의 동적 최적설계에 관한 연구 (Dynamic Optimal Design of Continuous Beams)

  • 이 논문은 연속보의 동적 최적설계에 관한 연구이다. 본 연구에서는 연속보의 근사적인 최적제원을 결정하기 위하여 컴퓨터 프로그램의 실행결과를 이용한 기법을 이용하였다. 경간길이, 질량 및 휨강성이 변화하는 연속보의 자유진동해석과 이동 집중하중이 작용하는 경우 동적응답해석을 실행할 수 있는 컴퓨터 프로그램을 개발하였다. 모형실험 결과와 이론적인 해석결과가 잘 일치하여 해석결과의 타당성을 검증할 수 있었다. 설계효율을 나타내기 위하여 최대 동적응력, 경간사이의 응력차이, 이동 집중하중이 작용하는 점에서의 rms 처짐 및 전체지간의 총질량 등 4가지의 무차원 변수들의 선형결합으로 이루어지는 최적함수를 정의하였다. 3경간 연속보에 대한 해석결과 개략적인 최적제원을 갖는 연속보로 설계하는 경우 등간격의 등단면 연속보에 비해 설계효율을 개선할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.

활성탄소섬유 흡착bed에서의 톨루엔 흡착특성 (Adsorption Characteristics of Toluene in the Adsorption Bed Packed with Activated Carbon Fiber)

  • Toluene adsorption characteristics in the adsorption bed packed with activated carbon fiber (ACF) were studied. Experimental apparatus is composed of VOC generation equipment, adsorption bed, and analytical instrument. Breakthrough characteristics were investigated with length of the adsorption bed which consisted of 3 or 5 sheets of the ACF and flow rate when toluene concentration are 400 ppm and 800 ppm respectively. When mass transfer zone (MTZ) comes out of the adsorption bed, toluene concentration is increased sharply and reached plateau region by saturation. Experimental results are compared with semi-empirical gas adsorption model proposed by Yoon and Nelson. In order to investigate the movement of the MTZ with adsorption time in the adsorption bed packed with ACFs, weight increment of each ACF was measured with the location of ACF at each run. When the weight increment of ACF by toluene adsorption which located at the exit of the bed reaches about 20%, toluene started to be detected.

Development of Main Steam Line Break Mass and Energy Release Analysis with RETRAN-3D Code

  • An estimation methodology of the mass and energy (M/E) release due to the main steam line break (MSLB) has been developed with the RETRAN-3D code. In the case of equipment qualification (EQ), the over-estimated temperature would exceed the design limits of some cables or valves. In order to have a more flexible EQ profiles from the MSLB M/E release, the methodology with the best-estimated code was used. The major conditions affecting the MSLB M/E were found to be the initial SG level, heat transfer between primary and secondary sides, power level, operable protection system, main or auxiliary feedwater availability, and break conditions. The RETRAN-3D models were developed for the Kori unit 1 (KRN-1) which is typical two loop Westinghouse (WH) designed plant. Particularly, a detailed model of the steam generators was developed to estimate a more realistic two-phase heat transfer effect of the steam flow. After the modeling, the methodology has been developed through the sensitivity analyses. The M/E release data generated from the analyses have been used as the input to the inside containment pressure and temperature (P/T) analysis. According to the results at the point of view containment P/T, the Kori unit 1 can have more margin of 5∼15 ㎪ in pressure and 8∼15$^{\circ}C$ in temperature.

수직면에서 작동하는 탄성 매니퓰레이터의 효율적인 제어에 관한 연구 (A Study on the efficient control of an elastic manipulator moving in a vertical plane)

  • This paper presents a technique to control a robot which has a flexible manipulator moving in a vertical plane. The flexible manipulator is modeled as an Euler-Bernoulli beam. Elastic deformation is represented using the assumed modes method. A comparison function which satisfies all geometric and natural boundary conditions of a cantilever beam with an end mass is used as an assumed mode shape. Lagrange's equation is utilized for the development of a discretized model. A control algorithm is developed using a simple PID control technique. The proportional, integral and derivative control gains are determined based on the dominant pole placement method and tuned to show no overshoot and having a short settling time. The effectiveness of the developed control scheme is showed experimentally. In the position control experiment, three different end masses are used. The experimental results shows little overshoot, no steady state error, and less than 2.5 second settling time in case of having an end mass which is equivalent to 45% of the total system weight. Also the residual vibration of the end point is effectively controlled.

Discrete-time Survival Analysis of Risk Factors for Early Menarche in Korean Schoolgirls

  • Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of body weight status and sleep duration on the discrete-time hazard of menarche in Korean schoolgirls using multiple-point prospective panel data. Methods: The study included 914 girls in the 2010 Korean Children and Youth Panel Study who were in the elementary first-grader panel from 2010 until 2016. We used a Gompertz regression model to estimate the effects of weight status based on age-specific and sex-specific body mass index (BMI) percentile and sleep duration on an early schoolchild's conditional probability of menarche during a given time interval using general health condition and annual household income as covariates. Results: Gompertz regression of time to menarche data collected from the Korean Children and Youth Panel Study 2010 suggested that being overweight or sleeping less than the recommended duration was related to an increased hazard of menarche compared to being average weight and sleeping 9 hours to 11 hours, by 1.63 times and 1.38 times, respectively, while other covariates were fixed. In contrast, being underweight was associated with a 66% lower discrete-time hazard of menarche. Conclusions: Weight status based on BMI percentiles and sleep duration in the early school years affect the hazard of menarche.

Aerodynamic design and optimization of a multi-stage axial flow turbine using a one-dimensional method

  • In order to improve aerodynamic performance of multi-stage axial flow turbines used in aircraft engines, a one-dimensional aerodynamic design and optimization framework is constructed. In the method, flow path is generated by solving mass continuation and energy conservation with loss computed by the Craig & Cox model; Also real gas properties has been taken into consideration. To obtain an optimal result, a multi-objective genetic algorithm is used to optimize the efficiencies and determine values of various design variables; Final design can be selected from obtained Pareto optimal solution sets. A three-stage axial turbine is used to verify the effectiveness of the developed optimization framework, and designs are checked by three-dimensional CFD simulation. Results show that the aerodynamic performance of the optimized turbine has been significantly improved at design point, with the total-to-total efficiency increased by 1.17% and the total-to-static efficiency increased by 1.48%. As for the off-design performance, the optimized one is improved at all working points except those at small mass flow.

Gender-specific cephalometric features related to obesity in sleep apnea patients: trilogy of soft palate-mandible-hyoid bone

  • Background: The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between gender-specific and obesity-related airway anatomy in patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) by using cephalometric analyses. Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 206 patients with suspected OSA undergoing polysomnography and anthropometric measurements such as body mass index, neck circumference, and waist-hip ratio. We checked lateral cephalometry to measure tissue landmarks including angle from A point to nasion to B point (ANB), soft palate length (SPL), soft palate thickness (SPT), retropalatal space (RPS), retrolingual space (RLS), and mandibular plane to hyoid (MPH). Results: Male with OSA showed significantly increased SPL (P = .006) compared with controls. SPL and MPH had significant correlation with apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) and central obesity. Female with OSA showed significantly increased ANB (P = .013) and SPT (P = .004) compared with controls. The receiver operating characteristic curves revealed that SPT in male and ANB and SPT in female were significant in model 1 (AHI ≥ 5) and model 2 (AHI ≥ 15). MPH was also significant for male in model 2. Conclusion: Male and female with OSA had distinct anatomic features of the upper airway and different interactions among soft palate, mandible, and hyoid bone.

다양한 현장조건을 고려한 병설터널 필라의 안정성평가 (Stability Estimation of the Pillar between Twin Tunnels Considering Various Site Conditions)

  • 다양한 현장조건을 고려하기 위하여 필라 폭, 암반등급, 측압계수를 달리한 각종 병설터널을 모델링하고, 수치해석과 모형실험을 통해 필라의 안정성을 알아보았다. 수치해석을 통해 얻어진 필라 중앙부의 응력, 필라 전체의 평균응력, 필라 좌우단부의 응력을 각각 적용하여 필라의 강도/응력비를 구하였다. 이중 필라 좌우단부의 응력을 적용하였을 때의 강도/응력비는 가장 보수적인 값을 나타내었고, 분할굴착과 지보체계를 고려한 시공단계해석에서도 굴착 시점과 부합한 실제적인 값을 보였다. 또한, 병설터널의 모형실험에서 필라의 파괴균열은 필라 좌우단부로부터 필라 중앙부를 향해 점진적으로 발생하였다. 따라서 필라의 국부적 손상을 방지하고 터널 안정성을 보수적으로 평가하기 위해서는 필라 좌우단부의 응력을 적용하여 필라의 강도/응력비를 구하는 방법이 적합한 것으로 판단된다.

GIS를 이용한 지하수오염 예측에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Prediction of Groundwater Contamination using GIS)

  • 본 연구에서는 기존 DRASTIC 모델에 구조선밀도, 토지이용 인자 등을 추가한 수정 DRASTIC 모델을 설정하여 경기도 화남2지구의 지하수오염 가능성을 예측하고자 하였다. 2가지 인자를 추가로 설정한 이유는 우리나라의 수리 지질학적 환경에서 대수층은 대부분 암반 대수층인 점을 고려할 때, 구조선밀도는 지하수 및 오염물질 유동에 직접적인 영향을 미치고, 토지이용은 점오염원 및 비점오염원의 영향을 간접적으로 반영할 수 있기 때문이다. 통계분석을 위하여 각 인자별 격자 레이어를 생성하고, 상관계수를 분석함으로서 신뢰도를 판단하였다. 최종 결과물인 지하수오염가능예측도는 '수정 DRASTIC 취약성'과 오염원의 발생 부하량 값을 논리적으로 비교함으로서 수리지질학적인 측면에서의 오염가능성 지역과 수질측면에서의 오염가능성 지역을 예측할 수 있는 방안을 제시할 수 있었다.
