  • Saltation occurs in horizontal flow of solid and gas when the carrier gas velocity is small enough to permit enough to settling of the solid particles within the transport line. So we should examine the pneumatic flow system to lessen the unbured carbon in the power plant. In this paper the saltation velocity was studied on the various solid flow rate in the constant pipe diameter and on the various temperatures of the flow gas. The air velocity in the power plant transport lines was also surveyed in order to compare with the saltation velocity. As the solid flow rate increased in the constant diameter, saltation velocity increased and as the temperater of the flow gas inereased in the transport line, saltation velocity also increased.

  • A significant amount of labor hour is being spent for clean up spent abrasives after blasting. So, for improving the efficiency of abrasive(grit) recovery process which acts as the neck of a battle in preceding coating stage, it was established the theoretical background for pneumatic transport technology in the abrasive recovery system as well as experimentally evaluated the effect of design parameters such as flow pattern, saltation velocity and pressure drop on the efficiency of the abrasive recovery system. And, by optimizing the operating parameter such as the length and diameter of suction hose, specification of recovery device, recovery mouth and hose connection method, a method which can dramatical1y increase the efficiency of abrasive recovery system, is derived.

  • In this paper, to improve the efficiency of pressurized pneumatic grit conveying for ship block open blasting process. Pressurized pneumatic grit conveying is defined as the transportation of grit(abrasive) in a compressed air flow. Total Pressure loss in flexible hose for pneumatic conveying is sum of pressure losses due to gas and grit and needle type pressure transmitter for measured pressure loss. haracteristics of grit open blasting by pneumatic conveying were studied experimentally. Studies variables were blasting nozzle ID, length and ID of flexible hose, grit flow rate, flow rate and pressure of transport air. It was experimentally proved that optimal open blasting condition and cost effective operation regarding grit blasting, obtaining a high qulity surface preparation(Sa $2^{\frac{1}{2}}$).

  • Recent trends in transport system for carrying heavy freight are that demands of a high efficiency, economic efficiency, convenience and safety are increased. Conventional transport systems were poor in transport efficiency and economic efficiency. And Safety problems can be caused to products and workers. In order to overcome these problems, an air cushion transport device with a high-pressure air is required. The air cushion transporter is a device for reducing the frictional force of floor surface and lifting the heavy freight by spraying the high-pressure air to the floor. Technology to float and transfer freight using high-pressure air is very convenient and initial cost can be reduced. In this paper, the study on the levitation performance and transport efficiency of air cushion transport system is conducted and verified that air cushion transporter has a significantly higher transport efficiency than conventional heavy handling systems.

  • The present problems concerning the control of generation, storage, collection, transfer and transport, processing and disposal of the municipal waste are serious. And the transportation of the municipal waste is recently a important part of solid waste treatment and disposal. The waste pneumatic transportation system is expected to be an effective method for use in solving that problems. In this study, pneumatic transportation system was applied to 2,000-5,000 households of public/group housing for economic and technical analysis on the basis of data for working and operation. The proper equipment must be selected through economic and technical analysis for generation and properties of waste because the equipment in facilities of system is various. And the efficient operation method should be studied on the basis of information on the record of oeration. As the wet food waste clogs the pipeline, it is necessary to examine under the actual condition. The maximum unit waste generation rate based on the assumption that each household is comprised of 3.20 people is determined $2,340g/household{\cdot}day$, and it is included the 50% increase of seasonal and daily change.

Dynamic analysis of three adjacent bodies in twin-barge floatover installation

  • Floatover technology has been widely used in offshore installation, which has many substantial advantages compared with the traditional derrick barge. During the topside offloading of a twin-barge floatover installation, the transport barge is side by side moored between two floatover barges. In this paper, the twin-barge model with the connecting hawsers and pneumatic fenders is established. Coupled dynamic analysis is carried out to investigate the motions of the barges under wind, wave and current environments. Particular attention is paid to the effects on system responses with different frictional performance of fender, axial stiffness of the hawsers and environmental conditions. The research results can be used for optimizing the parameters of the system and reducing the risk of topside offloading.

복합복원기술 개발을 위한 설계안 : 중금속 오염토양을 위한 토양세척과 토양파쇄의 통합 사례 연구 (Design Scheme to Develop Integrated Remediation Technology: Case Study of Integration of Soil Flushing and Pneumatic Fracturing for Metal Contaminated Soil)

  • 중금속으로 오염된 농경지 토양을 효과적으로 보권하기 위해서는 토양 매체내에서 반응과정을 거치는 중금속의 동태와 이동성에 따라 한 가지 이상의 복원기술이 선택되어야 한다. 오염토양 복원 시 중요한 토양의 물질적 수리적 요인은 투수성, 공극성, 토성과 토양조직, 오염물질의 형태와 농도, 오염물질의 동태와 이동특성이다. 따라서 중금속으로 오염된 농경지 토양에 적용할 수 있는 복합복원기술 개발 방법을 기존의 사용하고 있는 적용 가능한 화학적 기술과 물리적 기술을 중심으로 검토하여 보았다. 심층토내 중금속을 제거하는 화학적 기술로서 토양세척이 있으나 이러한 단일 기술로는 효과적 복원이 어렵다. 따라서 토양세척기술이 가지고 있는 단점을 보완하기 위한 물리적 기술로 토양파쇄 기술이 있다. 그러나 토양세척과 토양파쇄 기술은 혼용하여 오염토양에 적용할 지라도 오염물질제거율은 높은 이류 흐름 지역에서는 확산유동에 의해 비율제한적으로 된다. 그러므로 선택된 두 가지 기술을 현장에서 효과적으로 적용하기 위해서는 오염토양 복원 시 공정별로 각각의 기술이 가지는 장단점을 파악하기 위해서는 기존 현장에서 기술 적용 시 발견된 문제점과 요인들을 검토하여야 한다. 또한 복원의 효율을 예측하기 위해서는 오염물질의 역학적 탈착, 유동과 이동을 포함하는 예상수학모형을 통해 오염토양의 이질성과 복합 반응에 의한 실질 심층토내에서의 유동 경로 정확한 특성을 파악하여야 한다.

  • The Objective of advanced EMU Project is development of new technologies, that can resolve the system problems of conventional EMU, for reducing vehicle maintenance, improving passenger's service using IT and providing environmental friendly. As a concept of advanced EMU, We will develop the DDM with individual driving wheel for reducing of maintenance cost and full-electric braking system without pneumatic braking, and a new bogie for loadable DDM, and pre-diagnosis system which informs possible system error, and decentralization of vehicle control. To improve transport reliability, and energy storage system for saving energy, and fallen passenger detection system for improving passenger's safety at the platform.

Experimental studies on stabilization techniques for ground over abandoned subsurface excavations

  • Blind hydraulic backfilling is a commonly used technique for subsidence control of the strata over unapproachable waterlogged underground excavations. In this investigation model studies on all the three variants of this technique, namely, hydro-pneumatic or air-assisted gravity backfilling, pumped-slurry backfilling and simple gravity backfilling, have been carried out in fully transparent models of the underground excavations. On examination of the filling process, it was revealed that in all the three cases, the basic process of filling occurs by sand transport along one or more meandering channels. The relative influence of sand, water and air flow rates on the area of filling from a single inlet point and the hydraulic pressure loss per unit length were studied in details. In hydro-pneumatic backfilling process, the air bubbles while moving upward through the meandering channels provide an additional buoyant force over and above the available hydraulic head. In this way the area of filling from a single borehole may be quite large even at small flow rates of water. During actual field implementation the injected air, if not released completely from the rise side holes, may cause troubles by way of creating potholes on the surface. The pumped-slurry technique has shown its capability of filling a relatively larger area at faster rate, especially when high-volume, low-pressure method was selected. But simple gravity filling was also found to be equally effective method as slurry pumping, especially when flow rates were high. In the second and third method discussed above, examination of variations of injection pressure was also done and its relation with physical phenomenon was also attempted. Some empirical relationships were also developed using multivariate regression with a view to help the practicing engineers.
