  • In this study, we are to analyze the life and the main failure mode of flexible tubes fitting for pneumatic that are usually applied in the factory automation line. Flexible tubes fitting for pneumatic have complicated failure cause because they are organized as a complex of various elements. Therefore, in this paper, we analyzed the main failure mode of flexible tubes fitting for pneumatic, and then performed life test and performance test according to the international standards. On the basis of these processes, we estimate shape parameter that is the main factor for the calculation of test time for the reliability of flexible tubes fitting for pneumatic and their data analysis of life distribution.

  • The stress concentration of lock-claws, which are one of the important parts for pneumatic fitting for a flexible tube connection, was investigated by finite element simulation. In this study, the generation of the local plastic deformation was predicted when the tube was hooked up to a pneumatic fitting in order to disperse the stress concentration, and design optimization was carried out using the Taguchi method. For the optimization, the outer width, bending angle, and inner radius of the lock-claws are used as main variables. As a result, their respective contribution ratios are revealed as 81.3%, 10.9%, and 1.5%. The ratio of the total stress distribution was improved by 4% compared with the initial design of the lock-claws.

  • This study conducted a comparative analysis of the contraction pattern of trunk and lower limbs muscles of handicapped children with brain lesions during the use of foam pad and air pad for fixing a standing table to the body for pediatric patients with brain lesions using a standing table product applied with a pneumatic air fitting system. There was a difference in the measurement of muscle strength activity by muscle in accordance with pad type (foam pad vs. air pad). A large difference was found with big movements (movements of eating), while a small difference was discovered with small movements (writing and reading movements). This was found to furnish a little more comfort to users compared with the existing foam pad during the use of a standing table product applied with a pneumatic air fitting system.

  • One-touch fittings are important components that can make a quick and tight connection between pneumatic pipe systems. In this study, the stress analyses with various working pressures on these one-touch fittings are carried out using finite element method. Material properties, to use the stress analyses, are measured by the universal tester and digital Vickers hardness tester. The stress analyses on the circular shell spring forced by various pressures(100, 150, 200, 250kpa) and on the main body due to the fluid-structural interaction are investigated. Results show that the stresses of one-touch fitting are concentrated to supported part of main body and the soundness of a circular shell spring with maximum pressure 250kpa was confirmed.
